Do you have to mix your own songs when you work at a club? If so, how do you do that? lol. I'm kind of clueless, sorry.

No, you can go with whatever the DJ plays. If you are nice to the DJ at tip out, he is more likely to play music you "like". If you want certain songs or styles bring them in on a CD (burn one) that the DJ can keep.
Expect if the music is slow or really girly it probably won't be played, same goes for hard core rap and death metal. If it puts the custies to sleep or makes them want to fight it won't get played.
Don't expect to dance to the music you listen to at home.
PS welcome to SW.
Do you know for a fact that the club you'll be going to has a dj?
I worked at a club (very very small) that hade a cd player, and the girls played their own music. On the strip in Baltimore I only saw two clubs that had dj's. The other clubs used a juke box. ::)
When I worked at the cd player club, most girls just burned music and put the songs in sets of threes because you had to do a three song set so my cd looked like this:
1.classic rock
2.classic rock
3. classic rock
4.rap or r&b
5. rap or r&b
6.rap or r&b
7. pop
8.pop
9.pop
10.misc song that sound
11.misc song that sounds good
12.misc song that sounds good
Or sometimes I'd put in like Kid rock, and just play 3 of his songs in a row. The cd player club is not the norm. I wish it was. I got to play whatever the fuck I felt like. 8)
