Discount Dancers Messing up Business
How do you deal with it? In my club (and I assume most clubs?), dance prices are not negotiable (well, we can certainly charge MORE lol), I could lose my job if a manager finds out I'm lowering my prices. But there are girls who do it all day long every day! Its hard to compete when the normal dance price is $40 and I start talking to a customer who wants a dance, but when I tell him the price he tells me, "$40?!?! So-and-so said its only $25!"
example: The other day (on a very slow day mind you) I had a girl come up to me, ask if she could buy a dance from me for her friend. She handed me $40 and I let her know that there's a $5 wrist band that needs to be purchased to get into the private area, did she want to pay for it, or should her friend? She told me the girl who danced for her boyfriend only charged $35 for the dance. I know its only $5, but why should I eat $5 for a wristband just because the other girl is? Maybe if I knew I would get many dances out of a guy, but for one dance it doesn't seem worth it. But then there's the possibility of not closing the sale on that one dance because I'm not willing to lose $5. I get so aggravted with this kind of stuff. Sorry for going off on a tangent with it, I guess the point I'm getting at is...
How do you deal with it? Are there cute or convincing lines you use to let them know that getting a full priced dance with you is better than a discounted dance with so-and-so?

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
I dunno. That's what happened in South Fla, so that's why bj's are only $10 here. I really don't know what to tellyou because a $5 hit is one thing, but then it's $10 AND then $20.

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
Girls shouldnt be undercutting you like that. If it keeps happening, I would talk to the manager. Also, if names were named, i would tell the manager specifically. Tattling is not generally a good thing, but if selling discount dances is becoming a staple at your club, then management needs to step in. Its not fair to the other girls.
It is shitty when stuff like that happens. One time on a slow night I was about to close a sale on a 5 for 100 private dance deal (not the best, but at the time they were some of the only customers). The guy went out for a smoke break, and when he came back he asked if he could go upstairs for 40$ (mind you for a 5 for 100 deal, 20$ goes to the house) when i obviously disagreed with him, he informed me that girl B was willing to do this, and if i wasnt then he was going up with her. So yep, he went upstairs with her. At the time I was relatively new and I had no idea waht to do about it. In hindsight I would have told management, because this girl made a habit of doing things like this.

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
This kind of thing really annoys me too! Loads of them do it though, on my last shift one girl was doing 3 for 50 (instead of 60) and someone else was offering 2 for 1's!

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
I hate when customers look at YOU like you're trying to rip them off because you charge the ACTUAL prices. I'd tell management and if they didn't do shit about it I'd leave. Sure, these girls make money off those customers THAT night, but those guys will NEVER EVER pay then any more than that price. If anything, they probably get more & more stingy, which is kinda funny (well, maybe not for the price-slashers, lol), who end up having to do more & more for less & less (gee, I thought you went to work to MAKE money, not give it away!).
I always upsell my dances - ALWAYS. The guys who want bargain-basement company can bounce. The ones who prefer quality over quantity know where to find me. ;)

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
I try to find people that haven't been spoiled by this yet. If it's too slow and all the people in there "know" they can get super cheap dances from girl A, B, or C and I can only get dances from this price I'll usually just do it depending on the damange and then find new people when it gets busier. It's one thing about regulars, they're all so spoiled because they know too many of the girls and how to get cheap deals. Lol.
I had one guy once that always get's four for ones from his normal girl. (four songs for 20$ when they're supposed to be 20$ a piece). I got him down to a two for one with me. Sometimes it just depends on what you're willing to eat when it's slow and everybody's a spoiled reg.
I always be looking for new people, travelers, people that just "wonder in". Because they don't know all that bull.
They always wonder why I don't want to sit with them when it's busier though, lmao.

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
theres no way id lower my prices, and i get real upset and pretty insulted if a customer even asked for a discount...it's just not respectful..the only time ive done a discount dance was i was in a 3 song booth which is set to be 75 dollars and this poor kid had emptied all his pockets onto the table and could only come up with 65..it was a one time thing and he acutally came bac the next week and only saw me because i was so nice about it :)

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
This has been happening at my club recently too. Many girls offering 3 for 50 (usually they are 20 each) and even two-for-ones, and stuff like that. I don't do "discount dances" and it's really annoying when I lose sales because they say another girl will do X for a certain price.
I try to say something lighthearted and sell them anyways. It only works sometimes. Lines like "Oh, you don't think I'm worth full price?" followed by a little pout. Also, "Sorry I'm not on sale, I have no discount dances only quality dances, wanna see what you were missing?" followed by a big smile. Just be confident that you are worth the full price, plus tip!

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
I smile, tell them I have regulars who pay me TRIPLE just to spend time with me, but to TOTALLY enjoy his dance from the other girl. Sometimes their curiosity gets the best of them & they wanna see me instead... but I won't let them unless they whip out triple for offending me. ;)

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
I used to do that, actually... but there was a reason WHY.
I moved from a club that charged us for each song we did... but offered the occasional 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 special...
Then I switched clubs to a place that didn't charge for each song... but didn't run specials [dances were the same price]... so since most of my customers followed me to this new club... I'd still do 3 for 2 specials for some of the guys who just wouldn't get dances otherwise... or who would only do ONE dance instead of giving me $200. The songs there were SUPER SHORT too. So dancing for three songs instead of two... was still dancing for the same amount of time as 2 normal songs at my old club.

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
The only time I ever lower the price for a dance is when a customer says he's done dancing.
I never go below the posted price and this is after I've already been doing the up sells.
I would much rather raise my prices so there is wiggle room for negotiation (and a couple of other tactics too) and work my way down to get that last dance out of them.
No freebies. No two for ones. Nothing below base price.
The other day a customer told me he only does two for $30. I said that's nice. I asked his friend if he would like a dance and he said he only had $20 which I said was fine since there were two dances left. And what does he say?:
"Well I want a really good dance for $20. A REALLY good one."
Oh you mean a $30 for $20?
That is the worst!

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
I got accused of doing this at my club recently. :(
And I never did it....I don't know why they thought I did, but I nearly cried!

This is exactly why I love Deja Vu clubs even though so many people complain about them. Many clubs won't allow you to upsell... I LOVE clubs that let you upsell... its less work for more money.

Same. I'm so lost when I'm working at a non-Deja Vu club... I'm like "But how do I get them to commit to more than one dance if there's no CR?" Lulz.

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
^^^ Which is exactly where this thread comes in. The fact is that many guys prefer variety, but when there is a price break they are sometimes willing to forget variety.

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
I've been trying to figure out VIP in my club. The 2nd floor is for VIP members only. Of course, VIP members come in and just want to go upstairs because they can get their dances in a private booth.
So... I've made more money just chaining it out as dances than I do fighting them tooth and nail to pay me at the end for the hour. If I stop them at $100 and have them pay up, then keep wiggling my butt around, get them at the next $100, I can get $400+ an hour. If I don't talk about money and then at the end of the hour go "pay up!" they whine about how expensive it is. If I bring up the hourly rate before we even start, they just freak out and bolt! It's so weird and irritating.

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
That sux for the type of club you're in. Here I do it all the time because none of the girls talk to the patrons anyway. I know why they don't talk to them. We have the worse patrons out of any club I have ever worked in ever!!!!!!! I would never do that at a club with set rules. If you know who's doing it can you rat them out?

I wish I could. But the only one whose name I knew only took a $5 hit to pay for a wristband, which is apparently allowed.
The other times customers have told me that another girl will dance for X amount, they either don't remember the dancers name or never got the name in the first place.
I'm honestly not sure management would do much about it anyway, considering it is only hearsay.

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
I know there are girls that are underselling at my club but it's honestly never effected me. I charge double for my dances (unless you want a really bad basic price dance) and I never get complains of "oh well she let me do this for lower."

Girl, this is the one weird things about working in Dallas. I'll tell a guy 3 or 4 an hour OR 30$ dances. If he opts for dances, you better believe I'll be dancing my ass off that whole hour, confirming with him every few dances, "Ok, this is number 5, right?" Because what if he only has limited cash on him and he wants to get dance dollars at the end? Yes, you run the risk of an asshole guy not paying up, but that happens rarely. I can usually weed these ones out too, it's just not the norm in Dallas. It helps tremendously to work with certain waitresses that will help you get the money also.

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
@J.D.
The managers at my club really stick up for the girls, and are very fair. If a dancer is in the wrong they will make the call.
They know we upsell and there are times when they can only collect the base price given the circumstances but they usually get the full amount.
It is very rare that a customer hasn't paid in the end even if the figure comes to $500 or more.
The only a-holes who have never paid me are the ones who have this aire of entitled strip club patron. You know the cheap ones that have lots of money and don't feel they have to "pay for it". I've only run into two customers like this and I've been dancing a lot of years.
Funny how we never forget the jerks who stiffed us for 60 or 80 bucks years later. :)
I check in frequently and guys don't seem to mind saying "hang on let me see how much cash I have" to continue. Usually the next question is "Do you take credit cards?"
Some guys honestly don't know. Which brings something to mind on the topic of discount dancers. Maybe they are not forward enough to collect all the money they are owed. If they come up short I tell them about debit and credit cards. The second option is to borrow it from a friend. Third option is to go to a cash machine OTC. Fourth option is have them come back to the club and drop it off. Next is getting their info and meeting outside the club to collect and last is taking a check. I took a check for $500 and it was legit.
Honestly some girls might be afraid to collect.

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
I dealt with that before. I just msiled a sweet smile and said "I'm sorry sweetie but I have to follow the rules. That is the clubs price not mine." And they should be lucky it is on the clubs price because I would charge a little more simply because of the high house fees we had and the paying for each vip dance. I hate loosing money.

Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
so i just started doing this...if a guy just wants the one dance and it's slow, i'll give him his discount, take the money upfront, and give him the same air dance he would've gotten on the floor for the same amount. yep.
is that bad?
-
Re: Discount Dancers Messing up Business
At my club dances are only $10, & this girl got fired from charging 20

I think I'm being really stupid here- if he WANTS one dance why is he getting a discount? He wants it so he's prepared to pay full price for it, right?
