Possible first party
I never done a private party before, but I just got a text from a regular ((high paying regular)) saying he is having a party and he wants me to dance. Should I just wear what I wear at the club and dance as if I'm at the club? I am going to enforce the no touching rule. I dont know, maybe im too uptight? It is going to be a 2-3 hour gig, how much should I charge? Any tips or warnings? thanks!!

Re: Possible first party
1.) Take security
2.) Take outfits that you don't care if they get beer etc. spilled on... because inevitably they will
3.) Look in the private party section for some games just in case
4.) Take security (seriously - don't even think about going without)
5.) Charge a base rate plus tips. Your base rate should be about what you'd make in your club on a decent night and then you'll need to decide how long you want to be there for. If you aren't sure what to charge call some of the local agencies to see what they are charging. Remember though that you will need to pay your security person out of pocket.
Also, make sure that you don't need any sort of license to do private parties in the area you will be in... better safe than sorry.

Re: Possible first party
Depending on your location, the rate should be around $100-200 an hour before tips.
I agree with Kylea that you should take security. Even if the customers are not at all dangerous, drunk guys will try pulling stuff like not paying or recycling the tips from your tip jar.
1. Have some games/ props to keep the party moving.
2. Bring your own music. Some parties have a guy that acts as the DJ but they usually flake out at some point during the show.
3. Call the customer the day before to confirm. Tell him that you don't have any change so that he has a chance to get to the bank to get cash for tipping.
4. Get the address and make sure you know how to get there. I recommend a GPS unit or use google maps.
5. Confirm again what time you are to arrive and how long the performance is going to last. If you have booked the show for 3 hours and the guys just want to hang out with you (they've stopped tipping) after an hour, you really should stay for the full 3 hours. This is the #1 customer complaint with private party dancers, leaving early.
6. Wear something more unique than you would wear at the club. Just a bikini or tube dress is great in the club, but at a private party they expect a little more show.
7. Set your limits for photos/ video before beginning the show. Tell your bouncer if you see someone breaking the rules.
8. Have your bouncer collect the fee before beginning the show. After collecting the fee, he should sit down the whole group and tell them the rules (No touching, the better the tip the better the show, no photos etc.)
And most importantly: If you feel that things are getting out of hand, get out of there quickly before things escalate. I had one party turn into a brawl (I snuck out but my bouncer was stuck in the fray).

I was ready to write like the wind when I saw your post, but it looks like Paris pretty much summed it up.

Re: Possible first party
I agree with everything. The security is a big one with me. Most of the time the guys were great and the security guy really did nothing (because he didn't have to). However, the few times I thought I didn't need security is when I had problems. Also, as strange as this sounds, sometimes I stayed later if the money was still flowing. There was a few times that I made so much more money that it made sense to stay an extra half hour or so.

Re: Possible first party
I've done PP's, overall it was a good experience. Of course you decide on time and price and collect upfront! I charge 350 + tips for 3 hrs
1. Security is a great idea. If you can't get security and still feel comfortable w/o, make sure you let people know where you are, and let your custie know you've done so! I've even brought a friend along.
2. Set rules and limits and stick by them!
3. I bring plenty of 1's to sell/exchange...The guys may not bring enough for everyone!
4. Don't drink/overdrink! In a protected club setting you may be able to get away with it but in a PP setting you have to mind your P's and Q's!!!
Have fun and enjoy!
