Instead of my real name...
A-HA! I just had a great hustle idea and I needed to post it here before I forget.
Like many dancers, I am repeatedly asked for my real name during the night. I find this incredibly rude as I have worked hard to get my mojo up, wear a hot outfit, do my elaborate makeup and I even WEAR A WIG to further disguise myself. It reall takes the wind out of my sails and reminds me that I'm an intelligent student with a boyfriend and all this shit is make-believe. I found that almost everyone will be upset with me if I refuse to tell them this special little bit of info. So what point is there in upsetting people just to teach them a lesson? I'm probably losing money.
SO- also like many other dancers- I started lying and using fake-good-girl-real-names like Kate or Allison BUT it comes off rather insincere, and I always have to do a double take like "You want my real name?" as I hide my disgust at the tackiness of the question. And usually I forget what I said and act shocked when they refer to me by that name.
So from now on, my new hustle mind-game is to pretend I'm PLEASED that they asked me because all these other jerks never care about the real me! *sniff sniff*
For example, "Really? No one ever asks me that :)" or "Oh my god! Thats so sweet!" or "Wow, how refreshing! An honest straight forward person!"
I have at times offered the fake real name before it's asked but that doesn't imply that they are getting a special connection with me, it seems like everyone knows my name and the stage name is irrelevant.
So yeah, thats my hustle, turning a situation that used to unnerve me into one where I can get excited to share this special little piece of who I really am! (not)

Re: Instead of my real name...
that seems like a good idea, although it wouldnt work too well with my persona because part of my hustle is acting super excited to be at work and like i absolutely love my job. Just make sure that when you do that hustle you dont do it in a way that makes them think you have ill will towards your job. Making them feel special is a great idea though! especially if you can pull it off right.
I always jokingly say "i forgot it" with a wink and a laugh. Usually it makes them laugh too. If they keep pressing it, i have my back up fake real name. If they are the type of person who really wants to get to 'know the real me' as you mentioned, then i will try to push them to spend one on one time with me in the private rooms and divulge things like that and give them my fake real name. I have no idea why people care so goddamn much about names though.

Re: Instead of my real name...
Oh I didn't mean to imply that I would act like I don't like anything about the club, I have the same super-stoked attitude you're talking about and this just makes me almost MORE happy/easy going.
It's basically like I used behavioral cognitive therapy on myself to avoid becoming jaded, I ACTUALLY CHANGED MY OWN MIND about how I'm going to react to the question. Before I would feel put off, be coy, and yes, try and get to the root of why they're even asking. But it is just soooo much easier to make up your mind to be pleasantly pleased and flattered Ya know?
Still- I briefly got a time-waster tonight who gave me the full barrage of questions in like 20 seconds: name, location, hobbies, pets, family , ending in my relationship status, sorry bub! I'm taken! obviously he immediately became a bad potential to get lap dances from. He iddn't want to play the fantasy game and was looking for a date. A lot of times, guys who want the real name (and other info) are not trying to spend any money so now I can just gloss right over that fact and get to the bottom of things....rather than waste any more time playing games, making them feel Not-so-special because they don't get the all-precious info. OR even worse- falling for the trap of I-tell-you-my-life-story-because-you-think-all-women-want-a-guy-to-do-is-let-them-talk-about-themselves. HA
bleh! and now I've talked the subject to death! I wish stripping was a major, I'd write a big-ass dissertation.

Lol, amen to that! Plus we could get hired at other places based on our awesome sales skills and ability to read people and adaptability.

Re: Instead of my real name...
Usually I turn this question around on them. I tell them that they need a nickname/stage name for the night and ask them what I should call them. If they can't come up with anything, I give them a silly nickname like "Sex Robot" or "Big Daddy". I use their nickname to build rapport and get them in the lapdance room!
Also, I'm terrible with names. It's easier for me to remember a cute nickname instead of their real name.

Re: Instead of my real name...
just the other night i told a guy my real name was Helga. thinking he'd obviously realize i'm joking. Helga? seriously? instead he's all like "helga's a beautiful name! what's wrong with helga??" and wouldn't let it go for awhile. def not the reaction i was expecting.
i'll have to think of some worse names to tell guys i don't give a fuck about.
i usually tell most guys that i can't go around telling every guy my real name, but if we spend some time together ($$) then maybe i'll let him be special.
also i have my stage name tattooed on me, for a different reasons so when a guy says that's not my name i show him the tattoo and i'm like "oh its not?" and he's like "oh wow, i guess it is" and that's when i'm like "nah its really not, the tattoo is for celebrity x!"
celebrity x's name changed to conceal my identity. 8)

Re: Instead of my real name...
that's a good idea Peach! And if the guy is a real jerk about it, you can just pour on the sarcasm so he gets the idea
I like to give them a cute little pout and say, "what? You've never met a girl named Dusty before?" and act like it really is legitimate or I'll give them a fake, little slap and say, "whooooa there boss, why don't you buy me a drink first" and give them a wink.
The Sex Robot idea is genius though

Re: Instead of my real name...
It's a great idea! I used to just tell them another fake name just to get off the subject lol.
-
Re: Instead of my real name...
I have a reasonably common name for a stage name so I don't often get asked what my real name is but when I do I usually tell them it's "Sparkles" or "Fluffy" they usually laugh so much or spin off into creating humorous scenarios about how someone could end up giving their kid a stripper name that they forget about asking me again.

Re: Instead of my real name...
I tell them I don't use a stage name. That Kennedy is my real name. When the don't believe me, I give them a business card.
For some reason, it works. Silly boys must not realise you can print business cards for 8 bucks online. Lol.

Re: Instead of my real name...
^^haha no kidding.
I used to give them the same fake-real name, some of them bought it, some of them told me that was not my real name. Then why the [email protected]#% did you ask? Since you already seem to know the answer...
I like the, "You care about me?" approach. I also like designating a stage name for them to side step around it. I guess it all depends on the guy :)

Re: Instead of my real name...
When they're adiment I'm giving a fake name, I tend to pull the sarcastic card.
"Really? My names not Kennedy? Damn. And all this time.... (confused look) What is my name?" =D

Why did I burst out laughing when I read that? ;)

Re: Instead of my real name...
this idea is great. Three guys asked me this the other day, i don't know why. But I got all flustered and pissed off- lost my cool- not cool. The mind set and attitude change can make all the difference :)

Re: Instead of my real name...
I'm with Kennedy up there - I insist that Catherine is my real name i I am asked, which is pretty infrequent.
What really annoys me is the bartender, several girls and several customers who INSIST on calling me Cat. I hate that nickname. I tell them this everyday. It does not cease and desist.
Le sigh.

I've nicknamed one of my friends CTG (Catherine the Great) b/c Cat doesn't really work for her.

Re: Instead of my real name...
I just always use my old stage name I couldn't have at my club because another girl has it... I'm so used to saying it it comes off pretty natural and I don't give a fuck if anyone knows it... and I actually like it more than the one I have now. :)

Re: Instead of my real name...
I never give anyone my real name. If I was asked, " what is your real name" I gave them a fake name all the time and I used that same name for every guy that asked me that. So they all would think it's my real name which it wasn't! I don't understand why guys ask girls that question when they know they won't find out the true answer. But some girls do give out their real and personal information which they shouldn't because people can find out info with your name and bday. That's not cool!:)

This is very very true. This happened to me recently, not with my real name or birthday, but with something I thought was harmless and it really scared me.
PLEASE be careful ladies.

Re: Instead of my real name...
I like that idea. I usually lower my voice a little and look them dead in the eye and whisper " you cant tell anyone I told you because I might get in trouble. But since youve been so sweet/nice/etc I will tell you but you have to promise to keep it a secret." I look at them wide eyed and say my real name is....(pause for dramatic effect) Kate. Now remember not to tell anyone okay? Itll be our secret
-
Re: Instead of my real name...
If someone asks me what my real name is I'll say something like Peter or Henry to scare them off. }:D
-
Re: Instead of my real name...
I like to say a name, like Michelle. Then pause and avert my eyes like I'm thinking really hard and say, or was it Kristen?.......Stacy! um... I think... lol they just look so confused

I used Maurdrid once, try that :)

Re: Instead of my real name...
I've frequently told guys my real name is Princess Consuela Bananahammock. They usually laugh and dont ask again
