What do you look for in a cam site
I am putting together a new article for camgirlhandbook.com
and Ia m wonder what does a new girl to camming look for before they decide to join wiht a cam site.
because when I started cam I originally started with an agency so I wasn't able to explore camming I just took what was giving to me.
but now as I build this site I want to make sure everyone gets the right information.
So girls when you go to a cam site what are you looking for before you join and what makes you want to try it and what questions do you have before you get them answered and join the site.
Re: What do you look for in a cam site
-Is there free chat and is it mandatory?
-Are the people who come into free chat MEMBERS or can it be just anyone who randomly stumbles onto the site (this one is huge for me and its something I love about streamate and HATED about girltime)
- the ability to set your own rate and what my cut will be
-whether or not they record your shows and sell them as porn vids and whether or not, if they do this, I get any of the money (something I DONT like about streamate and did like about girltime)
-traffic. if i have to sit there for 10 hours and only get one pvt show because no one is on the site, I'm gone. I'm fine with it taking awhile to get regulars and make decent money, but I at least always expect for there to be guys in my room.
Ummmmm. Thats all I can think of for now. Will be back when I think of something else.
Re: What do you look for in a cam site
-traffic
-% of my cut and other opportunities to make $
-ability to block cities/states/countries is a +
Re: What do you look for in a cam site
I am considering camming, and have dabbled a bit but haven't gotten serious about it yet. I gave it a try back in the late 90's, but it was a little bit different back then. I had my own website and a T1 connection, but mostly the customers only had 56k modem connections, so only got image updates every 15 seconds or so. Occasionally I'd have a customer with highspeed, but most people online used dial-up back then.
Lately I've been goofing around with TokBox and Yahoo! IM just to see what kind of response I would get. I'm about ready to go pro, which I know is going to be much different than just chatting for free.
1st thing I'd look for in a cam site would be qualified membership. Meaning a customer base that is there to spend money. Of course I understand that there needs to be a free chat option, but like in a strip club, if there is a cover charge there would be a better chance of selling dances to the customers than if the club had no cover charge. If the customers have an account that automatically bills their credit card or other linked account (like paypal) this would make the site more appealing to me.
Reliability. I don't want to work for a site that has frequent crashes or loses connections somehow.
Reasonable pay scale. I think the minimum for private chat would be somewhere around $1 a minute. Also make sure that payments to models are made in a timely and reliable fashion.
A method for promoting yourself outside of the cam website. Something like a personal profile with a url I can link to my social networking sites.
Bonus would be other ways to earn money when not on cam, for instance any new customers that follow my link and sign up with the cam site, I'd get a commission even if they didn't hire me for a private show. Maybe selling videos of previous private shows when I'm not online for a reduced rate of the live performance private shows etc.
I'd also like to include searchable categories such as "Big Boobs" or "Spanish Language Models", so that customers don't waste their time wading through all the profiles in search of what they want. But that is really low on my priority list.
Re: What do you look for in a cam site
Accepts Australian "Hosts" is a big one as there are a few US/CANADA only sites I miss out on big time because of being "international".
Accepts ePassporte as a payment method (due to being international).
Quality consistent traffic. Bitch about IML all you like, at least it has traffic all the time.
Only registered members can chat with me in free chat.
Whilst I would love to be able to haggle my percentage... it's not a deal breaker as I more factor in other opportunities to make money.... ESPECIALLY when I'm not online.
Payment is reliable.
Re: What do you look for in a cam site
I look for:
Great traffic
Good domain name
Clean, nice look to the site
Ability to block states/areas
High pay rate/affiliate program/ways to earn extra money
Re: What do you look for in a cam site
So, company names? Thanks!
Btw, as newb, I would look for an easy to use site, but once I got going, I'd look for more/better stuff as mentioned above. Thanks!
Re: What do you look for in a cam site
I think the best and biggest cam sites are:
*Cams.com (doesn't allow you to block any areas)
*LiveJasmine.com (doesn't allow you to block any areas but you can record videos and make money every time a guy watches them and allow earn $ from referrals plus traffic kicks ass)
*Webcams.com (has a kick ass affiliate program and good traffic, pay is kind of slow if by check)
Big but not great are
*Streamate.com is big but sells your videos to tube sites
*MyFreeCams.com has tons of traffic but all the guys are beggars and you pretty much have to do hardcore shows in free chat for tips (I Hate that)
*Flirt4Free.com is big and traffic is ok but too many rules and too much begging for free shows/no privates
This is my opinion after extensive research and some experience. :)
Re: What do you look for in a cam site
oh, i would look for a place that didn't sell my videos to other sites. so streamate is a definite no.
