None. ;)
Dating sites match you up randomly with people who fit your preferences. Not always a good thing.
I had no luck whatsoever with paid dating sites. Here's an example of an ad I'd place: "professional SWF, never married, no kids, seeks same between 35-45". Must like concerts, animals, height/weight proportion. Pretty simple, right? Well, I'd get guys too old (I can deal with guys a few years from the ages listed, but not 75 years olds or 18 year olds). I'd get extremely obese men, and guys with kids. I'd get a few married guys as well. I'd also get guys looking for a housewife, though I made it clear in the ads that I am not interested in that. I got guys who didn't have jobs (I understand in this economy that will come up, but if you haven't had a job in 10 years that's your fault).
I had a membership with Match.com, and the few I met were disappointments. They either lied about something (looks, age, kids, etc) or were looking for a sexual experience (which I won't provide).
thanks kelly for the feedback, yea i had the same pointview as you, I was actually about to join match.com but i heistated from it. so right now i am using myspace and having a higher success rate with it i just sort out the fakes from the real
eharmony has worked for a few of my friends, I would never have believed it if I didn't meet their "mates." Fab people and seem to be really enjoying their relationships with my friends.
I've never used eHarmony, but have heard they are more marriage minded people. I've heard that they screen out a lot of people (which is good in a way, but I've heard bad things about this too).
A friend recently married someone he met on match.com. He did have to go through a lot of people to find her though.
hey just want to say thanks everyone for all the feedback on this, i might actually look into eharmony, i am looking for a longterm relationship and as well as an intimate relationship, those are 2 main categories
The only paid site I've had luck with is alt.com. But I was looking for a few very specific sexual proclivities, and that site made them easy to find.
Other than that, I like Plentyoffish.com, its free, and you can prevent people from contacting you that are outside of your scope.
Three sites mentioned here that I would have said too.
'PlentyofFish' is very good at 'filtering' your preferences..and 'Match.com' is the same with a wider database.
If you're after 'fun and games'...'Alt.com' is the place.
Outside these, you're in the same boat as everyone else....
Match/yahoo personals are pretty good IMO...as is Chemistry.com.
