Older girls hatin on Young girls
Im 20 but started at my club when I turned 18. I have alot of girlsfriends there, but most of them are around my age and at my hustle level.
but then theres these older girls are very passive and bitchy looking towards us.. i dont know if its because they are 30 year old strippers and the botox is starting to wear off or if they just hate me because Im young, fun, beautiful, and make alot of money?!?!?!?!
Have any girls delt with this situation before? and any pointers on how i can stay calm and not let it consume my mind at work??

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
The newer dancers in a club have a tendency to be more "extras" friendly than the established dancers. Age isn't the issue experience is. I remember a club I worked at with a new girl who was 43 years old that was going way over the line in the private dances.
So there is a distrust of any new dancer, regardless of age, because she has the potential to disrupt the equilibrium of the club dynamics.
I should also add that an older dancer may not have the patience for the drama that goes along with young adulthood. Been there, done that. You aren't there to make friends, you are there to make money. Passive hatred is very easily ignored, so just ignore it. Always remember, no matter how friendly you are with the other girls, they aren't your friends, they are your business competition. The career dancers know this all too well and have the battle scars to prove it.

well if your feelings towards them are as described in bold, that probably answers your own question.
im personally a younger dancer (21) but i keep to myself usually and just watch interactions in the dressing room from afar. it seems like a lot of the other younger girls treat it a bit more like a party and less like a business... and they are also very social, chatty, giggly, loud, yelling, drunk, crying.... and basically annoying. the older dancers are often veterans of the business (hence why they have enough money for the botox) and take the job seriously... so i think the giggly party sorority girl attitutde of the younger girls might bother them.
i disagree with the younger girls being more likely to do extras though.... i worked at a club whee the mean dancer age was probably 27...i think a lot of the dancers over 30 were just as guilty of prostitution as the younger ones.... and the older dancers who did extras were more cut throat about it because they were serious about making the money to feed their kids.

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
OMG, 30 is old now? Lol. Really, just ignore it. Put it out of your mind completely. Whatever you do to keep yourself from being miserable about all of the other bad things on earth, whatever faith or discipline you use, apply it here.

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
I'm not very friendly with anybody, no matter what their age. Until you've worked with me a while and seem cool to me, I'll pretty much ignore you. There are only a handful of girls I consider my 'work buddies.' Not everyone is going to like you, so why care and let it bother you? As long as they aren't saying things to customers to try to get them not to buy from you, or throwing change at you onstage then they can only affect your hustle if you let them affect your hustle. If they are as "old and bitter" as you say, then there is nothing you can do about it anyway, and just keep work - work.

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
I agree with Paris and Athena. I'm 20 years old and friends with a lot of the "older" dancers at my club. I actually prefer them to the younger girls because they are less about the drama and more about the money. A lot of them feel like my older sisters because they took me under their wing and taught me a lot of my hustling skills, how to do my hair and make up, and a lot of basic life skills (like how credit works, renting an apartment, saving my money, ect). You're missing a lot of wisedom by writing anyone over 30 off.
And honestly, if your post is any indication of your general attitude, your age is not what's making you disliked.

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
I know some 30-35 year olds who look damn good and better than younger dancers, because they've had a longer time to get themselves together! (And none from what i've seen need botox at all!)
But again, I'd say it's not age. I VERY VERY VERY HIGHLY DOUBT that they treat you this way because they're jealous of your youth (You can see other customer conversations that many men prefer a veteran dancer who's been workin' a while.). I think it's just, as others have said, the fact you're a new girl and still gotta learn the game and not treat this like a party!

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
Yeah,a lil bit of respect would be good...

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
i started dancing when i was 18 (and sucked at it, but that's neither here nor there...) and i'm the type of person who tries to be nice to everyone, and could not for the life of me figure out why the older girls would not be nice in turn. well, fast forward six years later, and i get it. this industry takes a toll on you, especially on "career strippers". it can make you err on the side of cynical. think about how dancing has shaped your attitude on men and other dancers just in 2 years, now multiply that by 5 or 6. holy crap! i'm amazed i haven't heard on the news about some disgruntled stripper just opening fire in a club and taking everyone out! maybe some of these women have been through some rough shit in their life. i've learned that underneath every bitch is really just another hurt girl. and no matter what, unless a girl punches you in the face, ALWAYS treat someone the way you want to be treated. just a thought.

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
Frankly, I'm a tad insulted that I'm 36 and you think I would need botox six years ago.
But whatever, don't judge until you've walked in our six inch heels.

oy. ::)

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
Honestly, I danced till I was around 31 and yes, I disliked 90% of young girls. Not because of their age or beauty (snickers ,cause some of the most beautiful women I've seen have been older than myself) however, it was because they were annoying drunks most of the time...and well frankly, more than a few talked shit on me because I made more than them. One was so ridiculous that she decided to tell my regs that I was FORTY...when I was really 29, but to her there was no diff. Luckily it just made him think she was a headcase.
Even when I was a newbie dancer I always got along better with the vets, and always recognized that they made more money. The teenagers thinking they are better/hotter dancers seems to be a fairly recent trend. Even the older pervs who say they like young girls seemed to like me more once I was 27-28...of course they thought I was younger. ;)

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
The attitude you display in your first post is why the older ones don't like you.
Hell, I'm only 25, but I've been doing this since I was 19 and you sound like exactly the sort of dancer I couldn't stand.
Its not your looks or age that get them. It's the attitude.
That said, I think we all have to admit we have all known a few older/vetern dancers who were just bitches. I know i worked with one at my first club, she was a know it all drunk.
I go to work to make money, not friends. Hell, I work at my club so rarely that I only know 4-5 girls names and I talk to even fewer. I find the younger girls drink, bitch, and get obnoxious. I keep to myself. I'm sure some of the girls think I am a bitch, but honestly, I generally just want to be left alone at work.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm only 25, but I was like, oh. shit.

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
Was that a dig at me ? I don't work in your club, but I did work in SF ( when I was 29 ) and I'm 30 now. I wasn't rude to anyone though. I minded my own business. That's really all you can do!
-
Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
Yes I would say its your attitude young lady hahaha. I am 27 and I look a hell of a lot younger and hotter than a lot of the 18-22 year olds I've worked with. No botox here and probably not for quite some time. I don't really care what age girls are, I am friendly to everyone. Note friendly... not "friends". I would say I sometimes get annoyed with younger dancers due to their naivety ... but as long as it doesn't effect my $$$ than I don't care what anyone does really.

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
1st off why would they be hatin "cuz they're 30 yr old strippers".
Like its bad to strip at 30 but not at 20?!
I bet your ignorant attitude is why they don't like you.
I'm around 30 danced for 12 yrs and the only thing that irritates me about newbies is when they *think* they make lotsa $ but don't even know what really good $ is.
1-200 is not banking. I don't hate on newbies but I ignore them. I have $ to make.
-
Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
^ Same. I generally ignore them. These days, we get so many newbies that I hardly even notice them.

Re: Older girls hatin on Young girls
I once worked with a dancer who was 18 and thought anyone over 25 was "too old" to dance. Yet the biggest money maker was a 45 year old woman (who looked 25 naturally) and the girl with an attitude often didn't make house. She'd complain the dancers didn't like her because she was young, but it was because she was a snot nosed party girl who was only there to find boyfriends. I hated working with many of the younger girls because of this attitude. No, not all were like this, butmany were. Personally you are as old as you feel. I actually don't know any women who are 30 who have had botox. I am 39 and have no wrinkles.

Actually, somebody sent me an article about a dancer recently (last few months) who went a bit crazy w/ a stun gun. (My friend thought it might be me, but it was in Texas;)
