Burlesque/Lounge Themed music
So I am forming my burlesque alter ego. She is a classic pinup glamour tease. I wanted some good lounge music I can take it off to and sing too (yup I sing to). However, I am brain dead. I am thinking things along the lines of fever and diamonds are a girls best friend, Bitter:Sweet things like that. Any help is appreciated.
Re: Burlesque/Lounge Themed music
Look up artists like Eartha Kitt & Peggy Lee. If you get on Amazon look up Devil Doll, who is a newer artist that has some fun music, and Amazon will recommed other similar artists.
I would give you specifics, but my friend's internet connection is bad and I'm on her computer.
Re: Burlesque/Lounge Themed music
I would recommend the Soho Dolls (featured in a Burlesque dancing scene on Gossip Girl) and always give a thumbs up to the Scissor Sisters "Filthy."
Re: Burlesque/Lounge Themed music
Good thing I happend by here. First off Google is your friend. Type in burlesque and see who played the music back then. You also have to ask yourself, from with burlesque era are you pulling. Burlesque had it's primary heyday from 1930 to 1950. In that time span the music changed a lot. But people I like are:
Richard Cheese and Lounge against the machine.
Andrew sisters.
I myself am more into Neo burlesque and Urban burlesque, and don't too much do the old stuff unless it's the theme for the show.
Also if you go to amazon.com and type in burlesque there are like 6 cd's full of oldschool strip tease standards.
I'm sorry if any of this is not spelled right, but I'm on my way to bed, and said fuck spell check.
I'm easy enough to reach if you have any questions.

One song comes to mind you might like (the group has a lot of great music too, if you don't already know who they are!) - it's "Wicked Little Girrrls" by Esthero. :)
Re: Burlesque/Lounge Themed music
You cant go wrong with "Take it Off! Striptease classics" (David Rose and his Orchestra)
No lyrics though but the most classic of all
Cab Calloway and his Orchestra

These Boots are made for walkin'
The "you be good to mama" song on Chicago soundtrack
and I once performed to Patsy Cline, walkin after midnight.
Good luck!

Re: Burlesque/Lounge Themed music
I have totally danced to Peggy Lee before at the peepshow I worked at. "Hey Big Spender" is kinda fun!
Someone also made a jukebox with "I Feel Pretty" on it, but that pissed almost everyone off and us feel awkward dancing to it.
