Make Love, Not Porn
No, this isn't an anti-porn thread.
I watched a video os a sexual advocate today talking about how we live in such a double standard, puritanical society that hard core porn has become, as she said "de facto sex education" because it is so accessible.
You can watch the video here:
So in lieu of this, she has created an AWESOME sexual education website called Make Love Not Porn which you can see here:
I think this is a brilliant idea, and thought I would share it with my fellow SWers and see how you felt about it!

Re: Make Love, Not Porn
I think that the makelovenotporn website is a good way to show teens what is and is not ok, especially to introduce the idea that most sex is INDIVIDUAL CHOICE. It reiterates sometimes to the point of absurdity that SOME WOMEN LIKE THINGS AND SOME DO NOT.
you would think this is common sense, but in reality some people need it pounded into their heads.

Re: Make Love, Not Porn
Its definitely a great website. Especially for younger girls and boys.

Re: Make Love, Not Porn
Oh my gosh, I'm so pleased someone else here reads sociological images! It's one of my favourite blogs ever.
And I was delighted at the site. I think it's well handled.

Re: Make Love, Not Porn
OMG, I can't even imagine what a monster I would be if I had access to some of the hard porn that's out there today. The only porn I saw as a teenager was some old Scandinavian scratchy VHS tape.
Now..well, what has been seen cannot be unseen. I worry about today's youth. Great site, thanks med!

Re: Make Love, Not Porn
Yeah I can just imagine how tough it would be to keep the smarter 13-15 year old boys off the internet porn sites. When I was 13 it was all I thought about, and I would have been a kid in a candy store. Probably not the best way to learn about sexuality.

Re: Make Love, Not Porn
THIS.
My mother's put me in charge of my little brother's sex ed (he's 13 next month) because she's so incredibly naive and knows I'm not. IT'S SO AWKWARD AHAHA. Ha. Someone shoot me.
She sat me down looking fretful one day and told me "He's looking at porn! He's seen women naked on the internet! WHAT DO I DO, HE MIGHT BE TOUCHING HIMSELF!"
^ The make love not porn thing helped a lot when I found it. I annoy him but he knows he can come to me to talk about this stuff and I cannot tell you the amount of times I've heard "Do women really DO that?" or " That does NOT look like fun, is he hurting her?" and just wanted to facepalm.
I'm not going to freak out and be like oh noes, he has access to teh pornz, because really - he'd stop talking to me about it if I told him it was baaaaad, and keep watching it over at his friends' houses. And those little assholes don't know shit. I mean I'd rather he was still that cute little 6 year old that had "I love you MORE" arguments with me before I went to school, but what are you going to do? Send him to an Amish boarding school? He'd still probably find porn.
All I can do is explain that porn and the relations he's likely to have are so far apart they're barely the same thing. I make it funny and I don't judge. I should probably stop looking him dead in the eye and telling him his first time is going to be awful and messy and end awkwardly but the brat needs to be prepared. ;D
People say we in the UK are really prudish when it comes to sex, but I found my sex ed in school was fantastic. We spent a decent chunk of each weekly lesson being glared at and told old wive's tales and why they are lies, finished by explanations of the pros and cons of about 10 kinds of contraception. No one ever bothered to tell us to wait. We weren't warned about how we'd burn in hell, just about the dangers of having sex for the wrong reasons. My brother goes to a special needs school so I dunno how decent his sex ed is going to be - but I'm sure as hell not letting the internet do it for him.
My mother on the other hand would probably benefit from the internet; I had to explain to her what jailbait was last week. And a femme fatale, now I think about it. My mother's so dumb, for a smart woman.
Hahaha wow this was totally off topic in every way possible.

What stunt fucking is not the rule any more?
Back to the seventies themed grooves now.
