Pre-prep for Audition! LONDON- UK
Hello Everyone! :)
I'm going to go an audition soon-ish and ive got a few questions about what to wear....
At the moment i have'nt got any shoes...just basic underwear being thongs etc... and normal heels and a few bits with i think might be okay,
I'm looking to buy some shoes asap...like dancer ones to dance in but im thinking..would it be okay to just turn up in normal heels...??? just for the audition and then buy some dancer ones after only being taken on? as the last thing i wanna do is go is fork out say £30 + for a pair of shoes and then not be taken on resulting that being a wasted investment!:'( as im short of money as it is!
but then again on the other hand i want to look good at the audition to insure being taken on and not be rejected due to being unprepared...so i'm not sure what to do.....:-\
on top of this ..what are the best clothes to wear to an audition??......like any general recommendations?/:O
anyone know of anywhere you can rent certain items in london?.....
any advice?
Thanks;)

Re: Pre-prep for Audition! LONDON- UK
I would think maybe a lot of places would want you to have the shoes already, so that they can see how you do in stage at the audition etc. Also, I'm not sure about London, but a lot of the clubs in my area start you immediately after the audition. If you didn't have the heels that might not work out, but on the other hand, maybe you don't want to start immediately anyway?
If you went to the audition in regular heels and got hired, could you get the shoes within a few day? If you have a store nearby that would be great, but it would suck to get hired and then have to wait weeks for them to get shipped to you!
:)
Re: Pre-prep for Audition! LONDON- UK
Yay Another UK dancer! When i started i had a working audition (which my club has since stopped doing, so i definetly started at the right time!) And i turned up with a pair of heels that were abt 5.5 inches (low by a lot of standards, but they worked for a few weeks, a lot of girls in my club dont wear the massive platofrms neway so i didnt stand out as a newbie) As long as u have a pair of killer heels that u can walk in u will probaby be ok, but maybe go to the club, sit inside, beginning of the night is probably best coz it won't be busy and the girls will be more likely to be willing to have a chat with you if there isn't much custom. Ask them what they wore when they started, check out what they're wearing and get a feel for the club etc. Ask if you can talk to the house Mum etc. So you can have ur questions ready and answered by the people who know, you can also get a feel for the atmosphere and how it's run then too.
www.exoticdancewear.co.uk is a good website for dance shoes etc and their shipping is super fast, cheap and the branded things ie the shoes (pleasers/nitelife brand) are good quality and there's always a sale section. I get a lot of my stuff on there. PM me if u want to kno nething else, Not been dancing long (bowt 5/6 months) but u pick it up quick enough lol xx

Hey
Where abouts are you working in the UK?
Me and HoneyBronze are going to audition this week.. fingers crossed it does well! Not sure what clubs are like in London at the moment, hopefully there is money to be made.
How is dancing working out for you as you say you have only been dancing about 5-6 months? Would be great to get some insider info on what its like dancing in UK. x
Re: Pre-prep for Audition! LONDON- UK
Head up to Camden, loads of good shops there to buy shoes from and you could probably heckle the price down a bit. Lingerie from Primark and Peacocks is good if you're on a budget, some clubs you have to wear long gowns in which case I suggest eBay, just type in "club wear" and narrow it down gowns/long dresses then to things in your price range (you can usually find something good for under £30) and UK only (so it arrives in a couple of days).
If you need something straight away Ann Summers usually stock one or two types of long gown but can be a bit pricey, you can always try other sex shops as well, maybe look up where a few are in Camden and check them out when you're there if you get your shoes from there.
Hopefully you'll find a good club and pay off these things in a night, I spent so much time and money trying to find clothes and shoes when I first started, wish I had of known about SW back then!

Heya, Personally, i love it! Its up and down in terms of what i make but it's like that for all the girls in my club at the minute. There's always money to be made as long as there's men willing to spend! Hehe! January was fairly dead especially after how good it was over Christmas! It's starting to pick up slightly now :D It's all about the hustle for the most part, talking to fat, bald, old, smelly knobheads and laughing at their jokes is wierd at the start, but once u get over it and see people in terms of how much they're gonna spend, u stop caring! lol, :D x

How much time have you got? Clothes have been covered by the others here - but you could look on EBay UK for shoes. There's a lot of bargain dancer's heels (used one's I mean) which you could pick up for around a 'fiver' which would do for an audition.
