Has anyone tried this yet?
Hi,
I searched the treads and saw nothing like this soooo here it is....I saw a website the other day called affiliatescout.com (I'm sure there are a ton just like it) that offers affiliate programs for every product you can imagine...We're talking from lipstick to bacon to car parts LOL! all kinds of crap...BUT there are good companies/products on there and they pay anywhere from 5-50% of a sale made through your banner. I was thinking about picking a select few cool/classy looking sites and putting them on my blog to make extra $. I haven't done it yet, as I just found the site last night...Anyone?

I'm not familiar with that site. Do you know how it works? Is it pay-per-click or an actual percentage of the sale?
If you are looking for pay-per-click I'd look at some of the big names that relate to our industry such as:
www.tossoffmedia.com
www.adbrite.com
You should also try asking over at www.ynot.com

Thanks Kylea, I will check those out too. I think some companies are pay per click but a lot are a % of the purchase. From what I can tell (so far) you don't charge you anything. Obviously if you have to pay up front it's a scam...I was thinking, for people who have sites of their own (Icantellyouwanna and myself, among others) picking companies or products that appeal to the audience of you blog/site (like cuff links, and tie clips and fleshlights for a indie cam blog that get a male audience) I don't know, but it would be nice to make extra money for nothing ;) From what I can tell the affiliatescout site is just directory of companies that offer affiliate programs. So, with this and google adsence (anyone try adsence yet?) I wonder if you can make a free blog generate $$.....
