Damn, then you can do the guitar solo portions of songs as your break songs! I'm jealous of your gig now haha ::imagining the Raining Blood solo as break music::
I throw in Metallica's Orion every once in a while...
I usually have a mixed crowd, so my nights are like: hip hop song, techno break, rock/metal song, reggaeton break, house song, rock break, reggaeton song, drum n bass break, etc. It's like a buffet for your ears haha...

Yeah, I could do that for the right song, but I always go with the beginning with the exception of some techno. I try to play songs that establish themselves early cuz all I'm really looking for is a great riff. In fact, that's what it basically is:
Dancer doing Nickelback-killer riff to get everyone riled up for the next :45-Dancer doing Lady Gaga-back to a killer riff so that everyone can keep their man card-and so on.
Pantera has been doing me good lately.

You can have all the professional dancers who really keep the customers in the club happy as can be and tipping hell out of you. Beware the one or two whackos that will freak out and run crying and whining to the manager and/or owners if they don't get every little thing they want--despite being the worst tippers and the least talented strippers, and constantly asking for what they cannot have.
It's a delicate balance. You can't win every time. If you are too accommodating they will run all over you, and you look bad to the owners. If you are a hardass and piss off the whining bitches, you look bad to the owners. Trying both will stress you the hell right out.
See, I have been lucky enough NEVER to have this issue. The owners and managers back me totally even if they are involved. If a dancer has a issue with me, they tell her to take it up with me they dont want to be bothered. Its my department and they let me run it my way, its nice to not have to deal with the pre-madona types :)

"pre-madona types"
/facepalm
seriously though your lucky if youve never had to deal with them
and I still wonder if the OPs gig was at the titty twister or something (yay movie reference)
