How do I know if stripping is right for me
Hi! :)
I hope I'm introducing myself in the right place. I'm Samantha, but I go by Sammie or Sam. I've danced pretty much my whole life, and I love it. I've always wanted to try stripping but I'm kind of scared. I've taken some pole dancing classes but only ever stripped for boyfriends and a few fwb's.
Most of my friends are guys, and I'm not sure how or even if I want to bring this up with girls I dance with at the studio. Of course all my guy friends totally say I should do it. ::) They even volunteered to watch me practice so I don't get nervous. ;D
How do I know if it's the right thing for me or what to expect? Is it better to start with private parties or to start with a club? I feel like private parties would be less intimidating. How do you get started with private parties? Do you just put an ad on craigslist or just start with friends' parties and let word of mouth spread? What are some good things to do?
Sorry to ask so many questions
Re: How do I know if stripping is right for me
Welcome to SW!
First, I wouldn't mention dancing to the other women at the studio... you never know how they'll take it. Many women do venture into dancing after taking classes but some studios look down on women that do this professionally, and if you've been training there for awhile I'd hate to have you encounter attitude.
Second, it's usually best to start at a club. The disadvantage of starting at a club is that sometimes dancers harass the new girls at their club, but the advantage is that there's always security and many people around. At private parties things can get out of hand, and especially as a new dancer, if you don't know how to control the situation, you could feel outnumbered - even with a security person.
If you do decide to go with private parties first, work for a reputable agency who is licensed in your state. They'll keep you on the up and up, so you don't have to worry so much about potentially getting a ticket. In other words, if you need to get licensed they can help direct you on that and teach you what is legal and what isn't.
Best of luck!

To reiterate Kylea the club is a better place to start. This way, you'll see what it is all about and know better how to feel out your party customers and how to help deal with pushy men.
Depending on where you live, you may need a license to strip and/or do private shows. It's better to get with an agency who can direct you what you will need to do.
Don't tell your studio friends right away, if ever. There is too much judgement that goes around. Depending on your relationship with your guy friends, you could let them watch you practice. But don't be surprised if they start acting a little more freely sexually with you. Things can definetly get wierd once guys find out you are a stripper-they seem to think it gives them license to act rude.
Have fun, whatever you decide!

I agree with Papillonluvr you would want to start at a club. Working at this type of establishment if you don't like it you can just not go back. If you go into private parties you definitely want to work with an agency.
I also agree with the others that telling friends at the studio could be a bad idea since a lot of people are judgmental about this kind of thing.
Good luck!
