Is money that bad, or a bad night? (WV)
Last night was my first night back to dancing in 2 years. Looked great, felt great and did great...considering.
It was dead. There were so few customers. This area of WV (Martinsburg) has A LOT of clubs, so I'm not sure if that's the problem or if the economy is a problem in general or if it was a fluke thing. Many girls and the manager mentioned that it's pretty hit or miss. I can't recall a night when I worked before being so dull. That, however, was before the recession.
Don't get me wrong, I made OK money. Better than what I'd make at my day job, but certainly not what I expected for a Saturday night.
There are nicer clubs to work at, and maybe they're busier, BUT this club is under new management and he's doing things right. He's getting ride of drama queens and trouble makers, taking care of his dancers and taking care of rude and disorderly customers. In fact, for once I feel like there's a person out there running a club right. He worked his way up the system over the last 8 years to get to this spot, is married to a former dancer and has seen the ins and outs, frustrations etc. of dancers. He actually seems to get it.
He's transformed it from a thug crowd to more blue collar, middle-aged men coming in. I really like the atmosphere and the way the place is run, but if clientele is that low all the time I'll need to move on.
Next week I'm going to check out some Baltimore County Clubs. I'm not sure about DC clubs yet. I don't think I'm at that level yet. In a few months I think I will be, but not yet.

a new club opens in dc today, i believe.
anyway, it could just be that your first day back was a bit lackluster. sometimes, people just stay home for whatever reason and you wind up with a really really dead night. i would give it a week before i blamed it on the economy.

This weekend was pretty bad in my club. I worked Fri & Sat night, and I didn't consider either to be "good." They were OK, but the crowd was very lame both nights.
I'm hoping it was just a fluke weekend.
The crowd will be much different than it was 2 years ago though. Apparently there is a difference in the crowd compared to only one year ago. Money can still be made, it's just harder and you actually have to work for it.

I'm not opposed to working...LOL. I hustle my ass off. Not once did I "give up" last night. It didn't matter that there were few people in there. They were all getting hustled by me at some point!
I think there were a total of 6 privates sold at the club last night. 3 of those being mine. There was just no one there!
I'm not going to call it quits, I'm just wondering if it's like this everywhere lately.

Is it the Stadium Club? I didn't see a club show up that opens today when I googled it.

http://www.stadiumclubdc.com Link to the new DC club. I'll be back home in that area this weekend to check it out if its open. I'm curious to see it!

in most areas of the country, rising state and local taxes, rising food prices, rising energy prices, rising insurance costs, zero pay raises etc. = less money available for spending on non-essential items. And lap dances definitely fall in the non-essential category.

compared to a usual weekend, my club was slow too. combine the fact that it was the last weekend of the month plus the fact that a bunch of guys partied a little too hard paddys day and the weekend after it, i think a lot of clubs probably were. plus your club probably still has its reputation against it.
i'm a bit torn on whether you should leave or not. it's being run right, and all it needs is to have good dancers so that customer counts will build up. maybe work some shifts at another club if you need the money, but don't abandon this one yet. it's got potential to be really good.
