Re: White Knight Syndrome
Life is full of contradictions and many people live their entire lives as hypocrites. The fact it occurs in a strip club setting should not be surprising to anyone.

I hear what you are saying but this seems like an extreme form of hypocrisy to me.
Exactly where does one derive the moral authority to criticize a stripper for her career choice when he is hanging out in strip clubs and taking services (whatever those may be) from her?
Truly mind boggling to me, but then again I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed :O
Re: White Knight Syndrome
To be perfectly honest, I would rather corrupt a dancer.

Re: White Knight Syndrome
I would surmise that the white knights themselves are harboring guilt for patronizing strip clubs in the first place. The only way for them to cope with these guilty feelings is to shift the entire weight of society's disdain to the dancers. They then convince themselves that they are still pure, innocent and morally good by trying to save the less moral dancer from the seedy underworld of the strip club industry.
White knights may truly believe they are doing strippers a favor. However, in reality it's a backhanded insult towards dancers IMO.
Re: White Knight Syndrome
If you are irritated by it try being a dancer who actually likes dancing... it becomes super annoying!
Re: White Knight Syndrome
just like everything else in the strip club, its a fantasy.
Re: White Knight Syndrome
the knight syndrome is a fairly common theme in psychology
you have the paladin complex, the black knight complex and of course my personal favorite the monty python knight of the round table complex which involves lots of singing and dancing
personally though I think most of the white knights I see and hear about in the clubs are just looking for a sugar baby but they dont make enough money

Kudos to that.
The hypocrisy of paying a girl to get you excited, then telling her that she shouldn't have gotten you excited, is just plain stupid.
Re: White Knight Syndrome
Rick, I have corrupted a few but made a chump by many more in spite of the wisdom here. Go figure.

Is any one of us that takes this up as a hobby truly wise?
To steal a quote from someone who has been doing this for far longer than I:
"If a guy willingly chooses to enter the lioness' den with full knowledge of the sharpness of her teeth he shouldn't complain if she enjoys gnawing on his limbs finding them quite tasty and profitable."

I can imagine - I would be interested to know how often dancers run across this.
Re: White Knight Syndrome
^^^ I would say a few times a week, if not once a night.
Re: White Knight Syndrome
i dont get it that much, but then again i am pretty good at putting a subject down when i dont want it discussed. and i rarely want to discuss how a customer can save me.... unless i see it leading to some biggg moneh.

Kylea, how do you respond to someone that starts spouting this stuff?
Re: White Knight Syndrome
^^^ Tell them that I really love what I do and the only time in my life when I was truly miserable was when I stopped dancing for a bit for a guy.

Rick has made a very good point. While we have disagreed on other threads and I have been quite frustrated with his posts, I agree completely with his thoughts on this topic.

But guys do this all the time. I try not to laugh in their face..
They say what a bad place this is, what happened in your life to bring you here and make you become a stripper, did you come from a bad family, were you abused, ect. And then they say something along the lines of meeting them for dinner, letting them help me get a new job or tell me how I should get in school (they assume I am not already). Sometimes before or after a dance.. Which is quite funny.
I think they love it when it suits them, they want to get dances and enjoy the women, and then when they feel guilty for their "shameful acts" they decide to try and "save" us to make themselves feel better.
Maybe it is also a defense mechanism, they know we won't date them so they write us off as a "lost soul" to help their egos. We are too damaged to get out of our awful lives and join them for a pure life of happiness and bliss.
I'm just guessing here..

I would agree with that!
I already have multiple degrees, so the whole "going back to school" thing really doesn't interest me.
Nor does the idea of sitting in an office pushing around paper, dealing with people via phone/email and getting fat... which inevitably happens when I work office jobs.
Re: White Knight Syndrome
^^I despise office jobs and even the more active jobs as well... they are so effing boring with no pay! I'd rather be a "sinner" in need of "saving" in the strip club than be a lame-ass behind a desk!!

Bound to happen sometime, but I am sure that I will post something highly disagreeable in another thread sooner or later ;)

I have come to believe that it is a defense mechanism, but in a slightly different way. He needs to be special, better than just another customer in a strip joint. More importantly, he needs the girl to believe that he is something special too, the savior that he wants to appear to be.
Re: White Knight Syndrome
I get it all the time. When I say I do it because I love it and so that I can pay my tuition so I can become a doctor... it shuts them up pretty fast. Cause ya, 9x out of 10 its the dumb ones that say this and then they get all intimidated when they realise I'm smarter than them. :P

You're so cute in thinking that most strippers aren't already far more corrupt than you, sir. :P
Its so easy to feign innocence.
Re: White Knight Syndrome
Ugh, hated the white knights.
My answer, "it paid for my university now its paying for a business I am starting up. I do not need to get into debt for a business loan, which is incredibly hard for small start ups. Besides, I take no issue with nudity or my sexuality, and enjoy the job, so why should you try and make me feel guilty about something that I know in my heart is not wrong for me?"
That always shut them up.
Re: White Knight Syndrome
The WK's fall into two categories for me. They are either closet misogynists or they just want to fuck you and think that "saving" you is a back door route to your endless love and affection...actually, the misogynists want to get laid too...
