Can I whine for a minute? Just a minute?
WHHAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I know I'm just being a big baby. Life could be a lot worse; I could have a baby to care for, I could be in an abusive relationship, I could be broke. But I just want to complain for one minute.
Moved to a new city, and I"m staying in a hotel above the club I'm working at. It's in a ghetto area, so I can't go out at night. Last night I wobbled in my shoes at work, a kinda tripped/fell over and sprained my foot. Got back to my room to realize I had a sore throat; major bummer. :'(
It really wasn't safe to run out last night to get supplies, so just now I hobbled to a corner store to get me some medicine, a tensor band and some ice. It sucks when you're in a new city and you don't have any close friends/boyfriends to do that sorta thing for you.
I have a full on cold (might be a flu, I have a temp of 101.7) with congestion, body aches etc and I have a foot that won't fit into my shoe (otherwise I'd probably tough it out and go to work). I was so looking forward to working this weekend and making some cash to get my own apt, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it now. Weekends are the money maker here, so I'll probably be sticking around this hotel for another week.
I'm super bummed and bored as shit in a dippy little hotel room in the ghetto, attempting to nurse my busted ass back to health :-[. Thank god for Stripperweb, it's my only distraction!
Phew. Alright, thanks for that. Back to my smiley self! :) Chin up girl!

what city are you in? i might know people in it who would let you crash their couch (i have a good network across the country at this pt) .
Re: Can I whine for a minute? Just a minute?
Can't you rent a room from someone? I mean .... even sleeping on a mat or a twin mattress thrown on the floor in a SAFE house sounds better than this. Hotels are so expensive long term. Search the sublets / temporary sections of craigslist ( I imagine you already have ? ) .
Re: Can I whine for a minute? Just a minute?
Yeah, I've tried looking around for other places to stay, but this is less than $200 for the week, and it's attended to 24/hours a day. It hotel itself is safe, just not the outside.
I tried the craigslist roomshare thing, but most people wanted first and last and employment info, and I don't have that right now. Nor do I have references in Canada (I just moved to Toronto from Florida). And Athena, it's a sweet offer, but I'm not sure if you know anyone in Toronto...? Is couch surfing safe?

I couldn't couch surf in Toronto lol. There are some serious shady people.
I would keep an eye on renters news, they have some sweet rooms to rent very affordable. I found a place on north kipling for $400 a month and it was really nice, it was basically an apartment with 2 other girls in an sweet old couples basement.
Im assuming your at Filmores(when you say hotel on top of club I thought Filmores). Its actually not THAT bad to walk at night. I did it all the time when I lived there(yes I lived at Fillys for like 6 months lol) just walk towards yonge street and don't make eye contact haha.
I still have a lot of contacts in Toronto i'll ask around and see if anyone knows any places for rent or looking for sublets or what not.

^That would be amazing! Damn you girls on here are helpful! It's cheeing me up beyond belief.
I've been told by pretty much everyone here not to go out alone at night - mind you, I'm sure if I really needed to one of the guys who works here (Bouncer or somebody) would walk me to a subway stop or something. I've already been grabbed at by one panhandler in the middle of the day with lots of people on the street, and I kinda elbow'd the poor guy in shock. I really didn't need to be so forceful, but I freaked. Most of them are harmless though.
It's an alright situation I have going on because I can walk to the dressing room in mah PJ's. I like that, the workaholic I am.

I'll try anything once. I tend to move around a lot, so in a few months time if it's not working out here I may take you up on that. Maybe go to smallerish town in Ontario, or Western Canada. I wouldn't ask you to lie - I could see how if everyone lied a little, then the CouchSurfing thing could get dangerous really quick. The whole concept it great though!

Girl, don't feel bad about whining - in actuality you're not whining at all, you're just talking about where you're at right now and how unfortunately you're on a downward slope rather than upward - I've been there - no kids or anything on this end either and I have the world in front of me but I'm in Los Angeles (almost 2 years now) - had to end my relationship with a dumb ass and am pretty much alone.
Just keep it together - nurse your ankle/foot back to health - try to make some money online via webcam shows maybe since you may not be able to dance and entertain yourself via the tabloids :)
My heart is with ya ! Stay strong.
