it depends on the city and the club and the season. But i still dont think that 400$ night is banking anywhere. I can see it being an acceptable average in most cities though. I feel like the definition of banking is making a shit ton money to the point where it excites me. 1K and above is banking.
To be honest, it is hard to say what a decent average is, because it varies by region and club. Sometimes, you can't even compare your club to the one across town. I agree that now, working a 6 hour shift, I would be as happy with 400 dollars, as I would have been with 800 a year ago. As far as an average, if I make 200+ in 6 hours, I won't complain.
$400 is banking in some areas and some clubs.
I'm in NW Ohio, the economy is horrible and I'm a clean dancer. My club is overloaded with girls right now because management is being greedy. $500-600 is "banking" for me. In my club, the girls that make more than that are doing extras (I say this not out of jealousy or hear-say, but actually witnessing it or having the girl herself tell me they do extras.)
yeah and that's what saddens me unfortunately.
before the recession i would only get excited if i made over $600; now $400-$500 seems like a pretty good amount --> which is what really infuriates me when i see girly posting about how they are happy about $100 days or $600 weeks because it's still above minimum wage.
well fuck me but stripping should be much more above the minimum wage because we are doing much more than the average worker
I am saddened by the fact that girls are in this industry doing this for $100 or less a day. If more of these girls had standards and quit the rest of us would make more money and the customers would know that we are worth much more than what they are paying us for today.
i used to work in cleveland... my average after all of the tip outs was a little over 450 a night. i usually got to work around 9... so this was a 5 hr shift. probably the biggest detriment to my money was the fact that getting in around 9 meant that i had about 60$ in late fees :(. So if i got to work on time then my nightly average would have already been at 510$ just for lack of late fees... and that doesnt include the additional money i could have made in the extra 3 hours. i didnt consider this banking though, i considered it a good average considering i was a clean dancer working in a city completely beat up by the economy. i still feel like the nights banking are the ones where i am rolling around in my money thanking myself for the day i decided to become a stripper.
thank you, i completely agree. i also feel like any girls who make less than 200 a night should leave the industry and leave it to the rest of the girls who actually know how to make money. that way there would be more money going around between fewer girls. the high amount of girls ok with averaging 100$ a night is part of why we are so fucking overstaffed.
sex work should be banking. you can average more than 100$ a night bartending or waitressing at a high end restaurant.
Why is it sad that some dancers are doing this for less than $100 a day? Doesn't that imply that there's something degrading about stripping for less than that? So stripping is only okay if you're making a certain amount? I iz confuzed.
Banking to me is over 1k as well.
::shrugs:: i am with elusive that stripping is something done for the exceptionally high earning potentials. Is it degrading? thats a separate debate. but the fact that the industry is so overrun with girls who are ok making the type of money they could make in another job that doesnt require education cuts into other girls' money. There have been some nights that i have worked where there have been more girls than customers... and girls would be sitting with customers all night. when one of the customers was FINALLY unoccupied, i would approach them and find out that i was the first girl to offer to sell a dance or a champagne room. And considering they had girls next to them over teh course of several hours,... it would be fucking ridiculous. So basically these girls would be there, wasting space, and making nothing except alcohol to put in their system WHILE making it so I couldnt make money off these customers without breaking dancer etiquette.
so yea, the girls who suck at making money do cut into the rest of our earnings more than you might think. especially in certain regions... ::cough cough new orleans cough cough::
for me, banking is making 4 digits or more.
Not trying to take sides but and I do agree that making $100 a night is NOT worth it to me but lets have a real world scenario. A girl who averages $150 a night and works four days a week is making $2400 a month. If she isn't paying taxes (I have only known 5-6 dancers who paid taxes ever) she is pocketing all that money. If she has no skills and only could get a job at mcdonals/starbucks/walmart, where I personally feel suck more than stripping, is why many would choose to still strip. Lets take in the fact that a person could also have a roomate so there cost of living is low, or if she has children she could take advantage of section 8 vouchers. Obviously not all 'menial' strippers will get hired at high end restaurants or be able to become bartenders. High end bars usually want someone with experience. Even local restaurants like Applebees around here me want someone with experience. Someone with no waitress/bartending experience is not likely to get hired at 'high end' bars and restaurants. Not saying its impossible, but around me at least, its not very likely.
I would much rather strip for pennies than work at McDonalds. I HAVE worked at mcdonalds and it was the worse experience ever. I worked there for 3 years. Now if I wasn't making decent money stripping, I would consider the alternatives and try to find something else. But if I couldn't get hired at 'high end' restaurants or bars, what exactly is one to do? I don't find working at menial jobs all that appealing, but I don't dislike stripping or find it degrading however. Not trying to defend anyone, but making $2400 a month is clearly better than $9 an hour. Lets also take into account that stripping is also a very flexible job usually. Just trying to give a realistic view of why some dancers just won't quit. Dancers in college may need the hours/flexibility of it as well. I can only work after 6pm because my hubby works during the day, and I have kids. So I would also have to find something to work with that schedule because paying for daycare for 2 infants would be insanely expensive. In the small town I live in, the only thing open 24 hours is a Mcdonalds and one gas station. If I had to drive an hour where my club is it would be hard for me to get full time hours somewhere other than grocery stores, gas stations, wal mart, etc. Things arent always so black and white.
I consider $600 and up (take home) banking on weekends, and $400 and up banking on weekdays. My area is pretty slow and flooded with girls and extras however. I wouldn't be happy with $150 average, but it would NOT come close to paying my bills. It would be much better than the alternative however, so I do understand why someone would accept it.
I think it is up to the girl to what is worth it or not. If the job pays the bills, then it should be fine.
For me, banking would be $800+ a night. But anything over $500 would make me happy. With $200 I would be upset, but that is acceptable. I would just have to work more hours/days to make the money I need.
To quote Athena: so yea, the girls who suck at making money do cut into the rest of our earnings more than you might think.
This is true, but so do many other types of girls, such as those who do extras or just want to waste time or are there to just have fun. Should we get rid of all of them?
I would say yes to the latter couple, but just because a girl is not making what WE think strippers should make...why should they not work if they are paying their bills and are happy?
When I do go in to work (unfortunately has not been too often) I consider $300-400 an average kinda blah night. "Banking" really depends on how hard I have worked. Sometimes walking out with $300 feels like I banked, and sometimes walking out with $1000 I don't consider banking.
Banking to me means easy hustle (spending less then 5 mins selling dances) and if I have a consistent night of easy hustling I feel like I have been banking.
There have been nights where I have made $1000 and literally felt like I was pulling teeth to get dances and want to bang my head against the wall.
For example the night I talked about here where the customer was degrading and saying rude things to me, yet ended up spending $1500. I did bank, but it felt like I worked harder that night.
But then there are nights when only my regular comes in, gets 25 dances and then leaves. I always feel like I BANK on those nights even though I may have only danced for one guy.
To me "Banking" only happens when income is consistently high. I could make $800 one night and not feel like I "Banked" because to me that money makes up for a night where I might've made $200.
If I'm making $500+ nightly working 4 nights a week that to me is banking as well as putting you well over the $100k a year mark with no taxes.
to compare... i can usually pull in 2-300 any night of the week. on weekends though i expect 5-600. and some nights, for no reason i'll make 8-900 (not that often) and other off nights 50-100. But for the most part i make on average 1300-1500 per week for the last 3-4 years
~and i try to work 4-5 nights a week btw
i don't really notice the economy affecting my work. guys will cut out money for their family BEFORE they cut out trips to the stripclub
I would have to say $500+ at the moment.
It used to be $200 or go home. I would think the least a person would want to leave with would be three or four hundred dollars.
^^^
I think $700 back in the day was the low end of banking. It was at least effortless and could be accomplished in fewer hours.
Another good gauge is for girls to look at good days versus bad days.
If a dancer is having more bad days than good, and the good days suck - consider doing something other than stripping.
^^^ Yes, I started at a skeezy/low end club (back then I thought I wasn't good enough for high end clubs) in Colorado, and EASILY made $800 with no lap dances or table dances - all stage money. San Francisco I made easily over $1,200 a night at the low end club - which was always busy and I loved dearly. On a good night there I could make $500 in about an hour & a half - that was with no VIP section either - just upselling for single dances. The upscale clubs were enjoyable to work... but honestly it required working a lot harder. It could certainly be worth it though! That city really taught me how to hustle.
Anyhow, I'm sure you all know my opinion on this.
I was just talking about this to another dancer the other day. Some girls will just sit with customers for hours and mind you, there is only a couple of custies in the bar and won't sell a thing. Then after the club closes, I haven't been able to try to sell to those customers cause it's considered rude since she is sitting with them and they will be like "
im soooo drunk...he didn't want any dances but he was nice and bought me drinks". HUH?! So you basically wasted space and none of the other dancers could try to sell a dance cause you were there. In my club you don't get a drink commission, either. ::)
It depends on the city and what your average is. Banking for me would be $1500+ since I regularly make $1,000 on any given day and rarely make less than $500 per 6/hour shift. However, I understand that $500 is considered amazing for some dancers. I've danced in multiple states (mostly major cities) and have always done well ($1,000+) at all the clubs I've worked. As long as you have the skill and there are customers with money then the sky's the limit.
I would also not be doing this job for less than $100 a night, but that's only because I don't need the money. I could see how it would still be worthwhile even at slightly above minimum wage (depending on the club rules, contact levels, effort levels, etc.)
For the sacrifices involved, I personally wouldn't be okay with that much money.
I think it's quite hard to only bring home $100 or less in a six hour shift unless your club has absolutely no customers in which case you should probably find another club.
I know girls that struggle to take home $50 and you know what they do? They sit on their ass for six hours, drinking, talking to customers for hours, talking shit with other girls, and just general laziness. It is NOT hard to make at least $200 a shift if you work hard and stay on your game. If you try hard and still don't make money then you honestly need to find another profession because selling/dancing is obviously not your strong point.
^ Agreed, in general. The least I've ever made by far was $75, and that night was dead on an epic scale. I iz hustlah.
For the emotional labor of this job...$600 a week would not be worth it in my personal situation.
Degrading no, but is it worth it? IMO No way.
If nothing else, the social repercussions of this job are one of my motivators for making a certain amount of money. I miss out on friendships, relationships, school activities, and many other social situations because of this job. Whether it be because of my fear of judgement (or not wanting to deal with it) or fear of seeing guys from the club when Im out with people. So if I am not making a certain amount, it is not worth it for me.
Granted, I love the job. I do. And I would dance for less. But to an extent. There is a limit and if I can make more gogo dancing, waitressing or bartending, I would change jobs. The stress on me and my lying to my family and friends would not be worth it without a certain amount of money.
Everyone is different. Some people are happy with it and that is great for them. I think it is a personal decision!
Back to the OP--
In this economy I would say BANKING to me is a grand or more. Great money is 500-1000. And Good money is 500-300. 300 or less makes me annoyed but I am content because I know I am still happy with my job and my money.
But I always work from 8-4 NONSTOP and I friggin bust my ass. I take a lot of pride in my job and really give it my all. So that's my opinion.
I want to add that contact or no contact probably has a lot to do with the different opinions on what is good money. If girls are doing more contact, they probably expect more for it to be worth it.
