Melbourne Australia clubs
Hi there!
Ive just recently started working at THE MENS GALLERY in melbourne. The hours are long and im averaging at best $400 on a Sat night. Im there for about 10 hours on a saturday night and about 8 on a Wed or Thurs where il make about $200- $300. Is this a normal wage? Ive only been doing this for about a month.
I guess I find it hard to hustle on the floor. Any tips in making more cash?

Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
I hated working in Melbourne. Shifts we way too long. I worked at Bar 20, it seemed that even the most in shape girls were doing coke to get thru. No thanks!! You also can't really sit down down dances there.
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
anyone got any current news and/or reviews on Centrefold Lounge, Mens Gallery or Dreams?
Thanks
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
CF is slow ... long shifts also. Young guys with no money on Saturday ... usual stuff. And deathly quiet during the week. I found we fluctuate a lot and while we can get customers we don't often get 'money' customers any more ;-/
Men's is pretty steady I hear but lots more competition.
Not sure on Dreams ... Haven't heard much on that one for awhile.
Short and sweet but hope it helps x
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
Unfortunalty the adult industryacross the board is on the decline. The Austrailain Industry has reported a 20% decrease in turnover per year over the last 2 years and is expecting that to continue. It looks like the story is the same in the US and UK from reading these boards and listening to backpacking dancers. So when dancers say they were earning twice as much a few years ago they are completely correct.
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
Yeah, I am really, really struggling at MG - last week I worked Tuesday and Friday and managed $0 and $230, which is probably my worst week ever. I have literally tried everything, amped up the hustle, tried different personas, etc.. so I have given up blaming myself and have realized that people just aren't spending.
Sigh.

Wow I'm surprised you're having trouble!
It really depends on the night. Saturdays are fairly busy compared to weekdays so the money does vary alot.
For me, getting 400 on average is a great! Anything more than that, I'm ecstatic.
I think there were two different girls I work with told me that Melbourne is the best place to work cos they only charge your house fee and you keep the rest (like, they don't take a cut from every show you sell).
A customer also told me that I'd earn alot more if I worked there at Melb also... But I dunno.
Does sound tempting, but I'd be away from family and friends If I were to travel there myself to work...!
I'm down at Sydney working at the clubs like Men's Gallery there (melbourne not associated).
& I gotta say money is not fabulous, but it's alright.
I've had 1 or 2 good nights before, but I guess It's cos I just started not long ago :/
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
Dang! Melbourne must have changed. I used to go there every weekend cause it was so good. I am now only in Sydney and I gotta say I can easily make $400 without trying in 5-6 hours. On sat I seriously didn't talk to a single person. Sat on my ass most of the time and got a bit drunk and therefore too shy to talk to anyone and still made $400. If I actually try $700-$1000 is doable.
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
Any ideas as to why...? Are strip clubs on King Street considered too young and trashy for money-type suits or likewise?
Seeing that the economy has stabilised itself since the recession doom of previous years, yet the core customers (middle-aged men on a business related outing) seem to be staying away...?
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
^Maybe just too many clubs in melbourne? Winter on its way and people staying in? A lot of the Sydney guys like LDs in melbourne but hate the fact that they get harassed 3-5 times before they've even got a drink and the girls sometimes get rude if they get a no. Honestly when I worked at Rhino I felt like it was the dancers that were bringing it down. Beautiful girls but a lot that had no customer service skills at all. Melbourne girls usually hate working in Sydney because the style of sale is so slow, but I am making better money now than ever by embracing the style.
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
Hi Jessie,
Out of curiosity, what is the customer to dancer ratio in Sydney these days...?
Do most customers that walk into the club end up spending money on the girls or are there a lot of "just there for the beer and the free perve" type customers (a type often found in King Street strip clubs)... :(
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
I can't really comment on weekdays cause I only work weekends now, but usually we have around 20 dancers on fri and sat nights and it's still busy enough for most girls to make in the $500-$1K range (after club commissions). I know there are a few girls who only make $100-$200, but theres always a few in every club that just seem to think thats acceptable. Any more than 25 girls and the new ones just don't come back.
Where I work its a lot of stage tipping. So customers do tip on stage... but some nights they are tight and others really easy... it ebs and flows like anywhere. During summer we are very busy sat nights though... lots of bucks bookings, but in winter it can be very quiet. On weekdays it used to be quiet when I worked too, but I also made good money lots of times on weekdays.
The hardest part of sydney is no LD so it is harder to get shows. But I find its more a regulars type scene. My club has a few regulars that will come in 2-3x a week and spend $500+ on the girl they like. So once you have your regular you are set. There is still the free perv guys but generally they at least tip on stage or give you a tip for chatting to them. I find new girls generally don't last very long because it is such a slow cultivation. You have to drink and talk a lot and cannot be aggressive - which is pretty much opposite of Melb or UK, so those girls usually hate it. They see all the old girls with their regulars and cant figure out why they can't have that, but these girls have been working on these guys for months.
Then there is the commission rates they take and its all on tax. Basically my thoughts are Sydney is good if you are willing to invest the time to make it good and accept that almost half your money goes to the club/tax. I still make the same here as I did in Melb and I am talking after tax and commissions. I like regular types and I've managed to get a few that also give me cash for dinners, dates etc. so in the end its worked for me, but at first I hated it. I only stuck it out because my husband works here and I was tired of being away from him. Now I love working here. I've also worked in the cross which is cash, and a faster pace, but soooo sketchy. I don't mind a bit of sketch, but I couldn't stand all the dealing that was going on in the clubs. When you ask custies for a dance and they tell you they are either there to pick up an escort or get coke... I eventually wanted to punch people in the face.
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
Hahaha I can relate for wanting to punch people in the face for said reasons (London has a few places like that).
Seems like Sydney is more your flow. Regulars that pay you to talk make the job worthwhile. Makes me feel like more than a set tits!
Even more great if you feel safe enough in their company to be paid for your company outside of work. My boyfriend wouldn't tolerate me seeing customers outside the club but to be honest even when I was single I never thought it was my thing. Or maybe it is not a Melbourne thing as once you're in their lap dancing the seem to expect more 'intimacy' than 'company'.
I know a few girls here that make quite a decent wage dinner dates but in most cases the guys are being lured by promises of a relationship or something equally unsavoury...and who knows they might flip or turn into a creepy stalker when they realise what's going on!
Though like you said Melbourne it is a different hustle. More girls and more guys but a lot of them are just there "for a drink", which is quite often a 5 dollar beer! Seeing that girls pay upfront to be there...not so good. I worked in Adelaide and really liked the commission system as it's a far better club atmosphere when girl numbers are capped. The club probably makes more as guys stay longer and spend more when they're not harassed every 2 minutes by a new girl asking for a dance!
I'd say money-wise you're better off in Sydney. It seems a bit like London where dances are squeaky-clean and you get sit-downs where you get paid to drink and chat!
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
CF is very slow lately...what i used to make on an average night 2 years ago, i now class as a great night..i'm too scared to do a week day in fear of it not being worth it after club fee, taxi, dinner etc.

Me too whenever I work next door! Some comfort in that it's not us, nor the club but the situation in Melbourne in general.
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
So Melbourne is declining too? I'm coming over from Perth and was told Melbourne is the best $$ right now!
Does anyone know where would be best to work for a girl like me with piercings, few tattoos and blonde/pink hair? I worked at Voodoo in Perth and we had lots of 'alternative' girls and I earned quite a lot... though I know not every place is like that!

Funny, I thought Perth would be great as apparently WA is by far the 'richest' state in Australia and whever we have guys from Perth in our club, they always spend very well?!
Anyhow, Rhino accepts travelling girls and there are a few alternative looking girls in the club with tatts (incl me) etc. There are travlelling girls in the club right now so can't be too bad in Melbourne (think most of them are from Sydney or Queensland though). Either way it's best you see for yourself by doing an audition in the club one night to see if it's for you.

Bar20 also has a few alternative looking girls.
And shameless Ive found the same with Perth guys too. When a guy says he's from Perth I'm expecting him to spend. Funny thing is I find Melb guys really cheap, but its a lot easier to make money there than Sydney.
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
Hi Jessie, so true about Melbourne guys. Sydney customers are quite generous as well but thinking that is because they don't mind spending on a lap dance versus a table dance (the norm in Sydney right) x
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
^Ya I find the sydney guys spend good here too (even for table dances) but after club commissions and taxes, the dancer gets around 50% ... but I actually make about the same in sydney. So when you think about it the guys are spending double! But it takes a lot more mental hustle and regulars... I much prefer lap dances and less mental crap but alas I'm stuck here now.
Re: Melbourne Australia clubs
Its more travelling guys in general who spend. All the eastern state guys who come to Perth buy dances because they're over for business or a holiday or whatever and have money to spend... a lot of the locals will come for a drink and perv just because. Then again in Perth we do get a lot of the miners who have been away for a few weeks and not got any action at all and spend all their money in one night ;)
So yeh I'm thinking of Bar 20 after reading all the reviews.... Spearmint Rhino seems a bit too 'classy' for me I hate having to wear fancy dresses and stuff. Kittens sounds ok too but I'm not a fan of the idea of touching D:
Also- in Bar20 whats the dress standards? I cant find any info in the reviews about what you have to wear there... only that you can dress up in the dungeons.
