I have a 3-bedroom townhouse; rent is $600, but I live w/ my bf and another couple so we split it 4 ways. So I only pay $150/month in rent now :)
Our only other shared expenses are water, power and internet (we don't have cable or a landline), and every month these shared bills come out to less than $60/person in total.
We use the extra bedroom for arts/crafts, stripper pole, yoga/exercise, etc.
I pay £600 (886.38 dollars) a month for a luxury, one bedroom apartment in the city center which comes with a free gym, balcony etc. I'm moving soon though, starting to crave the quiet life.
I pay 700 out of 1200, 2 bedroom 2 bath, ( I have a roommate) I get the bigger room with the attached bathroom so that's why I pay more then half. Unfortunately the apartment is roach infested (even after fumigation-twice!) and basically falling apart- but that's what you tend to get for 1200 in the San Fernando Valley! Oh and did I mention the extremely loud neighbors? ::) We're looking into moving asap!
Hey does any one live in the L.A area? I'm planning on moving there in feb. or march I'm an aspiring actress and I want to be somewhere that would be close to the city yet not an an area to expensive but no more than 40 mins away from the city. And I have no idea what is the average for rent out there help please! Sorry for thread jacking also!
That's it... I'm moving south of the border! Hmmm Belize.... Costa Rica.... :D
I am moving soon to the Washington D.C. area. I own a house out here that I will be renting out. I am not looking forward to paying DC prices. My bf and I will be staying with his parents for few months so that we don't make a hasty decision about where to rent.
Hmmm look for rentals in the surrounding area... I've heard Springfield is nice and has some decent clubs too.
I've never paid more than $300 for a 2br. I will be moving within 2 yrs so my son can be in a better school system when he starts kindergarten, that rent will be in the 400-500 range. I'm in Alabama.
ETA: Who lives/lived in Miami??? What's the rent like there in a decent area?
Rent in Alabama is very low. I would imagine Miami is pretty high, and you probably don't want to be in a bad neighborhood there.
Lol, I'm trying to grow out of cheap mode. I know when I finish school I'll be making more money & was looking for areas that paid the most. It's a toss up between ATL and Miami.
Everything I hear about Miami is bad. People make it seem like all Haitians are zombies and every Cuban is a murderer and if I go to Miami I'll get "turned out" or I won't meet a man because all the women in Miami are super beautiful Latinas and no one will want me (WTF) and I'll get hooked on drugs because everyone snorts/sells/supplies cocaine.
I just need a microbiology job. That's all.
$700 a month, everything included, for a small two bedroom apartment in a house in a decent area on the outskirts of Orlando. It's far, far away from the theme parks which is a must for me, tourist traffic and gas/grocery prices are sick. It's a huge house split into three apartments and the landlord lives in another separate apartment in the back yard. I have privacy but also still have the safety of living with four other people and still have my own kitchen, bathroom, can walk around naked, everything. It's pretty sweet but my boyfriend and I want to rent a house together. He pays about the same as me for a room in another house and nice 3/2s with fenced in yards and two car garages in the area we both live in now are going for as low as $800-900.
Miami isn't THAT bad, it just sucks to dance there and it's expensive. You have to WANT to do drugs to get hooked on them. Not EVERY woman is gorgeous although there are many. The nicer areas are awesome, but there are some rough parts. It's the same with Atlanta though. As long as you put safety first, I doubt any of those things would happen.
Someone asked about LA?
I'm in LA.
1500 split with a roomie.
OP - gl with moving out.
Honestly. Sometimes the fact that you know you NEED to make more money makes it easier to make.
i live in miami in a nice area for $1060 for a 1060 sq ft one bedroom one and a half bathroom apartment but you could definitely find something smaller for less...LOL at the girl super worried about Miami, its not that bad, Miami is kind of ghetto and you do kind of have to be aware of yourself but its not like omg murdahhhh lol
don't forget about Panama !Quote:

Uptown New Orleans, 950sq feet, we pay under $900/mo.
$1400 for my half of a 2bed/1bath apartment in Manhattan, not including most bills. (Doorman building w/ gym, though, so that softens the blow!)
I'm in the southeast and we pay 400 a month for a two bedroom house on fifteen acres. Cost of living is pretty low in my neck of the woods though. We do have to pay our own utilities, water and trash-pickup though, plus yard maintenance for the two acres of lawn is about 100 a month.
just moved out! flatshare with my bestie and her friend. 200 weekly. pretty average for a sydney flatshare i reckon.
id like a studio someday in the city though!
$435/week!
Thank GOD for the SOUTH!!!!
I pay (in AL) $545 montly rent for a 3br 1ba house in a safe area. Along with the house is the empty lot next door that I have turned into a massive veggie garden (neighbors think I'm country & insane).
Been home browsing with a buddy who has relocated from NY and he was FLOORED with the home prices here. I took him to the "affluent" area and shocked that he could by a large 2story historic home for 200k.
SO is paying 2200 a month for a 3bedroom w/out utilities...but the BAH system works differently overseas with the whole 'goal' being to get the more expensive places since the money isn't given to the individual, lol.
