We all repeat moves. As with any style of dance there is a "set" of basic moves that are used in that style of dance. Modern striptease is really no different. I do use the pole, and I do have favourite moves that I will repeat. For me though it doesn't feel so repetitive because I try to concentrate and make eye contact with different customers... even if they aren't at my table.
Oh yes I definitely repeat, but what I do is work with the costuming..we have a six song set ..so I try to make it look different by slowing removing a different piece of clothing for each song. I rarely wear just a two piece..it's usually a button up top, jeans shorts, gloves, anything you can think of to slowly remove and TEASE. The office girl get up is a winner every time.
If you do themed sets you can play with your prop. For example if I am a sexy nurse I'll slither to the side of the stage and listen to a guy's heartbeat with a stethoscope.
i say practice with the pole more. like try working on getting up gracefully from a move. there's all kinds of standing twirls you can do and i think having a pole to practice with at home is an advantage. you could even do a few poses while hainging on to the pole, and try building up your strength to proceed with advanced tricks. are you on studio veena?
Keep working on your pole moves and exits. Remember when you come down from a spin you don't always have to get right up. Stay on the floor and do some stuff there! There are plenty of ways to move away from the pole to do floorwork and not look like you're trying to heave your butt up off the floor ungracefully. Ha :)
Also - we all repeat. If you look interested in what you're doing, most people wont even notice. If you look bored, they'll be bored too.
I don't do pole tricks... and while I FEEL like I'm very repetitive... customers and dancers alike tell me they love my show.
Just own it and have confidence in your 4-5 moves and no one else will really notice. <3
Lately I've been feeling like I am boring the crap out of people.....I probably am, but most of the dances I sell are to people who sit pretty far from the stage anyway. At my club, the guys who sit at the tip rail rarely get up from their spot to get dances.
The tip rail crowd at my club usually demand ALOT before they will fork over the dollars. We get alot of females at the tip rail and they all want to see crazy pole tricks or have me pull them up out of their chair and make a big scene.....it's just not my style. I work with a bunch of pole queens and girls who can contort themselves into a pretzel, so when I get on stage and do my thing (which is usually your standard stuff, same 3-4 moves and 2 simple pole tricks) people are like :-\ or :bored:
I want to get a pole in the new place and learn so I can improve my stage sets.
At least you have a pole onstage. Yea, you heard that right. The old hag that owns my club believes that we should learn how to dance rather than relying on a pole. So we have to get mighty fucking creative up there.
^^^ A lot of people believe that. In Colorado some of the clubs don't have any poles and the ones that do usually only have 1 pole, and there are typically about 4 stages.
Also, if you ever get into featuring in the US most of the agents want to send the dancers to clubs without poles first to make sure they actually know how to dance versus relying on the poles.
I do tons of pole tricks, and think i would hate a pole-less club.
make sure that the pole is warm as well as your body and you will stick like glue. the weather plays a big role beleive it or not. keep up the great work!
i'm too old and my joints are too fucked up from dancing as a youngster to do anything strenuous. i make the same amount on stage whether i do anything exciting or not.
i will not work at a club without a pole though. that's asking for a stiletto disaster.
zippy, try doing squats and pushups. pole work is no different from gymnastics really. you need a strong body to do most things. speaking of which, i need to pm nakita about how you do a vertical pike on a pole. but i feel like i bother her so damn much with all my question-asking.
I would soooo try out/brush up my pole moves if I had a pole at home.
But I ditch the pole altogether anyway cos in my club, the pole is far from the tipping rail.
I lack originality in my set though... Always just doing the typical floor work every other girl does.
I pull a burlesque move every now and again, but that's about it.
Maybe a few youtube stuff would help me out :P
for veena it's twenty a month, or you could get a year for a hundred. actually before there wasn't many lessons, but she has been doing an amazing job in adding more vidoes. she's even doing more strength building and floor moves. VEENA IS AWESOME!
