San Diego ... 3 questions
1) I can't remember the name of the club in San Diego but it's close to the AZ border of Yuma ... maybe an hour drive or so from Yuma. It's *suppose* to be a good club. Anyone know what club this is?
2) Are there any good clubs (clean, no extras, nice management - topless or nude) in San Diego for a traveling dancer?
3) I have a lot of ink. How are the clubs re: dancers w/ tats and piercings?
My friend from the midwest will be in San Diego for 2 weeks in July. It would be great to visit him and work ... and if I liked working there I could go back and forth from Vegas easily.
Any help will be greatly appreciated! :)
Re: San Diego ... 3 questions
:bump:
Any SoCal dancers out there to help me please? :)
The other night I met a young military guy visiting from San Diego but unfortunately he hasn't gone to the strip clubs there. He said the only club he heard of is Cheetah's and it's close to a military base but he doesn't know if it's any good ... just heard someone mention it. Does anyone know if this is a good club to work at? It's got good reviews on tuscl.net but I always like to hear dancers opinions that have worked at the club.
Re: San Diego ... 3 questions
I always hear that Cheetah's has the highest earning potential, but they have the strictest hiring standards in town(although they're not like the Spearmint Rhino or anything), I hear that the management isn't great(but I'm sure they're not TERRIBLE and it doesn't matter much either way if you don't plan to be there for too long right?) and I hear that there are some extras. But I highly doubt it's Saddam and Gomorrah.
I hear girls saying that the Pure Platinums do good, there's one by the harbor and airport, then there's one up in Kearny Mesa. The Kearny one is beautiful on the inside. The Deja Vu on Midway and the Hustler Club on Midway get pretty busy I hear. All the other clubs here seem to be dead and/or brothels.
Hope that helps.
Re: San Diego ... 3 questions
From what I heard Cheetah's is decent but thats coming from a Marine.

How ironic ... the guy I met is a marine. One of the clubs I worked at in my home town was partially military (every branch) dependent ... they were usually generous $$ so that's my hope in SD.
Re: San Diego ... 3 questions
Tonnnnnnnnnnnns of marines here. Gotta love the kids with loose wallets!! :D

Re: San Diego ... 3 questions
Holy sh*t I completely forgot: To dance in San Diego you need a license and last I heard it's up to around $480 now. Depending on how much you plan on working or being in San Diego it might be worth the investment, but if you only wanna do a few shifts it may not be worth it. :(
Re: San Diego ... 3 questions
All my friends are Marines haha so they are always drinking or at SC in SD and they wont take me>:( I wanna go!!;D

This thread is dated spring 2009 ... The Body Shop in San Diego? http://forum.stripperweb.com/showthread.php?t=131313 ... black_widow wrote the licensing details ... total is $300 but it could have gone up since then so thanks for the warning.
I text my friend today and he's still going to SD in July. If anything I can at least check out the clubs when I visit him and IF a club really appeals to me I'll find out the licensing fee and make my decision from there. It would be cool if SD turned out to be a periodic strip trip but for now I might be better of spending the SD licensing $$ for a r/t ticket to Portland and a cheap motel for a week ... no licensing there. Oh the stripper quandary :P
Thank you again for all your help! :)
Re: San Diego ... 3 questions
It has definitely gone up in the last year. When I renewed my license last summer it cost me what it had initially cost me to get a brand new license the year before. Just to renew mine on time it cost me $311 total. I had heard a lot of rumors that it cost around $500 now for a brand new one and sure enough when my friend had to get a brand new one a couple of months ago it cost her $480, and I'm not even sure if she was counting the business tax license in with that amount. :(
But still, spending $500 to make $2000 is better than nothing right? I wouldn't work at the Body Shop btw... in case you were considering it!

Ahhh, the new license cost more ... good to know! Is the renewal annual? And do you know if I can audition w/out a license? I'm not sure how liberal the clubs are in SD w/ tats & piercings. If I can't get hired at a decent club it won't be worth it.
In Vegas we have to renew our biz lic annually $200 ... use to be $100. Fortunately the sheriff's card is good for 5 years ... and this year it went up to $85 from $45 last year.
Dam the cities are really doing their best to get ALL the $$ they can from dancers :-\
In the Body Shop thread callista mentioned it's a whorehouse ... thanks for confirming that is NOT a place to work. I saved the thread for licensing reference only. Other than that thread I couldn't find anything recent on SD. You really came through for me! I'm gonna stick w/ the SC list you gave me :)
Re: San Diego ... 3 questions
It is annually. Shame that five-hundred bucks only gets you 365 days huh? :(
If you go to audition at a club they are gonna ask you if you have a license first thing, but I'm sure you could easily talk them into auditioning you before you have the license so you know you'll have a job when you get it. Unless having an unlicensed dancer even on the stage is some sort of legal no-no, I wouldn't know.

Wow, it is annual ... YIKES! I will NEVER complain about the $200 biz lic annual renewal in Vegas again ... LOL.
Maybe if I'm lucky and I'll be able audition w/out a lic ... sure won't hurt to try and I'll explain my situation beforehand.
You've been such a tremendous help! Thank you again hun! :)
Re: San Diego ... 3 questions
we have a travelling dancer at our club who mentioned that club near Yuma..she mentioned that they have coin tuesdays? or some day of the week where the guys can buy drinks for a coin and she says the place is packed..they get drunk for cheap so they have money for dancers.

She's talking about a club IN Yuma ... can't remember the name right now. Yes, they have coin tuesdays but the custys are a bunch a cheap drunk idiots! A dancer I met in Phoenix told me the same thing ... that's how me and my gf ended up checking out the club. That club is a nightmare! And Yuma is a shithole! Not sure why that dancer lied to me. IMHO do NOT believe what that traveling dancer is telling you.
The club I'm trying to find out about is in CA, an hour + outside of Yuma. In my OP I said in SD but now that I think about it it's probably in another city.
Re: San Diego ... 3 questions
Hmmm I've considered traveling to Yuma to dance before....not good?

OMG honey do NOT go there! Why the hell any dancer would say it's great there is beyond me!
Last month some biker friends did a road trip and landed in Yuma ... why I don't know ... LOL. So of course they visit the local SD. Next thing I know I get this text from one of them telling me their horror stories. I told him he should have asked me before going there ... LOL.
Being that you're in SoCal a trip to Portland would be a user-friendly trip. Have you considered Portland for strip trips? I'm researching ... again :P
Re: San Diego ... 3 questions
From what I've heard it is very indie-scene even in the SCs...and I'm not indie. :/ I'd love to check Portland out period though just to see what everyone is raving about, could be really cool. But I could NOT make the drive(tons o' mountains). :(

I'm not familiar w/ the term indie-scene ... what does it mean?
I'm not a driving road trip kind of gal ... I'd be more like a kid ... Are we there yet?! :D So I'd HAVE to fly to not loose my mind ... LOL :O I haven't checked airfares but the dancer I was talking to said recently she got a one-way from Vegas to Portland on JetBlue for $93 including all taxes. *Maybe* airfares for you as well would be affordable.
I've saved threads on SW re: Portland and got some help recently. My problem is my ink ... even though Portland is liberal re: ink there are still some clubs that do NOT allow it. Not sure if you have any body art or not ... if you don't, it will be much easier for you to get into clubs than me ... Dolphin being one of them.
BTW ... not sure if it's seasonal ... need to research that again.
Re: San Diego ... 3 questions
I have heard that it is a more artistic, alternative scene. I heard that tats were the norm too.

IMHO I think it's to your advantage not being part of the norm ... and from your picture I can see the guys there going crazy over you!
