None of those people would say something like that to her face. The internet makes people so ballsy. Most of them just need to be mean to people on the internet because they're so pissed off about living in their mom's basement.

Yeah I hate the internet meanness. I was playing an online game last night and it's soooo rampant! A game. Meant for fun. What the fuck?!?!? And I checked out a video of a really talented pole dancer dancing in her living room and some guy called her a drunken tranny hooker. She looked nothing like a man and was obviously not drunk because she was really graceful. Why do people even take time out of their day to say completely moronic shit like this?
GRRRR!! Ok, end threadjack.
I recently turned down an agency that works with Hustler and Penthouse because they said they do not book girl/girl or solo scenes... they only booked straight sex. While it could have been a great opportunity for me, I don't feel comfortable with it.... especially after reading this thread... true it's way more money, but what if I came back and infected my partner?
Yeah. I just don't wanna fuck dudes. Women, yes. Myself, ok. Just don't wanna bounce on a penis lol. They made it very clear they DO NOT do lesbian scenes... like girl/girl is a bad thing haha!
LMFAOOO @ "Bouncing on a penis"! OMG I'm loling so hard right now! what a visual!
I wondered about how much pornstars are making recently, just with the advent of free internet youtube-like porn sites, torrents, etc... It's so easy to get big-name pornstars' videos for free, I can't imagine the industry and thus their pay aren't both suffering from it...
And that poor woman! :( Ugh, I don't know what I would do. Good for her, for talking about it and not disappearing though.
Well... the first porn I ever watched... that's what she was doin! :D
And yes, I HATE free porn sites. Hate hate hate. I think it affects every aspect of our industry. Also, these sites are easily accessed by under age kids, seeing as you don't have to have a credit card to sign up. Anybody can click 'I'm 18, let me in!' I mean, yes some pay sites show a little on their main page, but it's not like all out access. I vote for abolishing free porn! :D Lolz, like it would ever happen. Even if every pirated video ever was miraculously deleted, there would still be exhibitionists doin it for free!
This is spot on. The thing is..you can be booked solid for a month, then not have a booking for 2 months. So you cant rely solely on porn for your income. Even the biggest stars in the industry dont. I do a lot of things outside porn...camming, mainstream work, non sex fetish stuff...because porn isnt a reliable paycheck.
It was slow for a while..but it is picking back up. I've gotten a lot more bookings in the past months then I was getting all year. And I dont do anal, gangbangs or any kind of humiliation crap(unless I'm the domme). I'd get a lot more bookings if I did anal...or did "private videos" but I dont. I'd rather cam or whatnot then push my boundaries and regret it later.
Yeah, anal was another one of my boundaries a lot of people don't want to work with.
And while I wouldn't mind being a submissive for spanking or tickling videos, I don't want to do humiliation that ends in me getting fucked... unless it's by a hot chick. :D I'd much rather be the Domme also!
Do porn for the credits, and do it cause you want to do it. Don't do it for your only source of income.
Couldn't have said it better...exactly! BTW if you really wanna do g/g porn, is suggest trying some other agents. You probably wouldn't work a ton, but it would be extra cash (and credits) without having to do anything you didn't want to. There's a lot of agents out there that may work with your boundaries
its possible she was always a meek person and that could explain alot as to how she let herself get manipulated by the porn producer the way she was. the meek ones are the ones that are usually the easiest to decieve or push into doing something they didnt really want to be doing. becuz people see them as "weak" or "spineless".
or its possible she became shy or meek as a RESULT of what happened to her. a situation like that would humble the most confident of people. how long ago did you meet her?
not to sound pessimistic but -- as scary as lara roxx's situation was in the porn world, stds can also be spread as easily or possibly even more easily OUTSIDE the porn world if one has multiple partners, e.g. in personal lives or with customers. in the porn industry they require std tests once every 30days and even that has shown to be "not enough" for protecting people like lara roxx. but in personal lives alot of people tend to be promiscuous (e.g. college parties) and some go for several yrs before getting std tested. theres alot of risk in that too. although i suppose that most sex done in personal lives or with a client/customer is more "mainstream" and not "gonzo", which might cut down on the std risk (since double anal causes more ripping, increases likelihood of transmitting hiv).
also -- thankyou to all of you who agreed that there are dangerous risks in the industry, especially the person who was influenced enough by this thread to refuse to do any boy/girl vids. i feel very strongly about the issue of stds -- and try to help people thru word of mouth whenever possible.

I blame free porn for the reason I'm obsessed with bdsm. Never tried it (very closeminded boyfriend's) but DYING to. The first free porn site I ever stumbled across was free-hardcore . com (subsidiary of Kink haha) when I was like 14 or 15...and my weird ass just got into it. I still visit that site 3 or 4 times a week for "alone time" lol.
As a result? The only thing that pops into my head during "sexy time".
I NEED a guy who's into it just so I can get it out of my system.
Yeah people do tend to blame the evil world of porn when it comes to things like this but the fact is people are infected every day that have never even touched porn, escorting or dancing or anything that's considered the 'dark underbelly' of society. (cue scary music.) I hate the fact that she was manipulated into pushing her boundaries, which should have never happened. But people need to understand that despite the 'seedy' appearance of porn, there are probably only a handful of cases like this, as opposed to, see above, your average frat bros. HIV happens, it's very real and very scary. People shouldn't assume they are 'safe' because they don't work in the 'dirty' sex industry.
I know I am going to take heat for this but I have to say it....
Its actually rather difficult to transmit HIV through vaginal or oral sex. Most heterosexual transmission is due to unprotected anal sex. And even then it is dependent on viral load and the frequency of contact with an HIV+ partner.
Basically its not easy to catch HIV in the adult industry. If you look at the number of scenes shot over the past 10 yrs in comparison to the number of positve transmissions.... it's a really low percentage.
There's probably more of a risk to a performer's health on the drive to the set than actually performing.
Again, if she doesnt do anal and she is informed and selective about who she performs with - HIV exposure risks can be kept to a minimum.
This is why I choose not to do anal at all, even in my personal life. See also:

I'll probably get heat from dissing anal as well, but meh whatever. It's my body.
This is a creepy thread, though it is very realistic. I too considered getting into porn, even did a pro am video (which so far has never resurfaced and the company went out of business) but the disease aspect among other issues really scared me. Though condoms were used, the guy who filmed the video did tell me that if I wanted to make it as a professional porn star I would be expected to have unprotected sex. That is one of the reasons I decided against it (plus I couldn't handle it and felt dirty because to me sex is sacred). For months after I did it, I was so scared I contracted AIDS. Luckily I didn't contract anything (though I did get HPV but that could have come from anywhere and is common). That was strictly a boy/girl video with no anal or any of the other things that seem to be common now. I don't get the idea that risking one's life to make $500 is worth it. It's not, because that money will be gone before you know it. I certainly wouldn't do anal, not even with serious boyfriends (luckily my current guy is against it). I think for me monogamous is important.
I really feel for that Lara Roxx and anyone else. I can't imagine how I would have felt if I got AIDS from my one time into porn. Honestly, I think it's scary how many companies require no condoms at all, including anal.
I think I'll stick to things that are 'pornographic' to fetishists that require no actual penetration. Such as foot porn, financial porn (showing off the money some pathetic worm gave me hahaha!) Domination, solo, etc.
If you do go with a company, go with one that uses a small pool of people. I like Burning Angel because it seems like they only use a few guys. I wouldn't mind selling 'cuckold' videos of me and my guy goin at it though. :D
I guess I just don't *get* anal with straight couples. It's like, I have this pretty awesome vag and you want the pooper OVER the awesome vag??? Ugh! I also read (I don't think it's included in the article) that the tissue of the colon/ rectum/ whatever you call it is very thin and that's why people have problems with it.
I know a guy who owns a few sites he does everything from basic modeling to porn but he offered me $150-$200 for a video of me playing with myself if I was comfortable with it haha Im way too shy but he doesnt make models do anything they arent comfortable with haha didnt want bad karma. Idk I cant do porn.
ur forgetting one of the easiest - and least sexual - ways to contract hiv. what if a guy jacks himself off, and in doing so, accidently shoots in someone's eye? i heard of this happening to some1..and yes later it was found out the guy was hiv positive..the eye has even more thin membranes than the mouth or vagina or anus hence an even easier route for transmission. takes a miracle to not get hiv after something like that. thats prolly the easiest way to spread hiv and it doesnt even have to involve sex or even nudity (on part of the 'victim'). hmmmmmmmmmmm
Malaya, unfortunatley sometimes the problem with listening (especially to an agent) is that sometimes they don't have your best interest in mind. There are agents out there who are more concerned about getting paid, even if it means steering talent in the wrong direction. That is an example of where having an industry mentor would have been helpful. Also, there's a huge difference between a PR agent (who is being paid by you to establish & keep your name in good standing) & a talent agent who is interested in getting you booked (sometimes without caring the circumstances) in order to get paid.
