When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
I'm 20 years old and I'm scared shitless of getting old/getting wrinkles. I'm almost thinking about getting botox soon, not cuz I have wrinkles, but to prevent wrinkles from occuring in the first place. If I have botox and I move my muscles less I will get less wrinkles that need fixing later.
What are your thoughts? I really don't know if my thinking is right or not so I figured this would be a good place to ask.
Thanks!

Um at 20? I think it's a bit too early for botox however, It's not too early to start using anti aging products (creams..etc) (This is what the lady at the Sephora counter told me)

well to me thats kind of early to get botox. i think the whole botox thing should be done no earlier than 25..which im 25 and thinking about getting it w/in the next 2 yrs. if ur that worried about PREVENTING wrinkles before u get them...just look up a great skin care product that will do that job before having to go in for botox. im looking into oil of olay right now...seems like one of the best.

I was thinking more like 40?

Suncsreen is the closest thing we have to the 'fountain of youth' in this day and age...

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
Yeah, you'd be better off wearing a good quality sunscreen, eating well, drinking a lot of water, and just generally being healthy than doing botox. And obviously taking really good care of your skin otherwise. At most I'd say get facials every other month from someone qualified and use products with retinal at night (with sunscreen during the day!). I'm 30 and honestly my few wrinkles are noticeable only to me and I only even have them because I've lived in Florida all my life and didn't use sunscreen as consistently as I should have. And even that little bit of damage can be gotten rid of with a good chemical peel.

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
Agree with all the others. If you can afford it get a microdermabrasion on your face every 6 ish weeks. Other than that just eat healthy and drink TONS of water. I started getting botox at 28 ... the dermatologist said to me then that it was good to get in while my wrinkles weren't so deep that they couldn't be "fixed." Obviously I'm not sure whether he said that to keep me coming back or whether there is some truth in that!

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
You can definitely start getting it now to prevent wrinkles. I asked my doctor and she says you can do that. It is true that you'll prevent them that way, although it might seem kind of extensive for some. I had it done on my nose (I used to make weird faces where I would scrunch my nose) and am contemplating getting my forehead done soon and I'm 22. Do what you think is best for you, I know botox has kind of a bad rap cause most people think it's freaky looking, kinda like the duck lips with fillers you know.

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
I definitely think 20 is too young to be worrying about that kind of thing. Seriously - just get on with enjoying your youth for the next few year without worry - drink lots of water, use sunscreen and chill.
I'm 35 and have my second facial cosmetic consultation tomorrow - the first one said i didn'y need anything done, may a glycolic peel but nothing more. Am going to see what the second one says, but seriously, sunscreen, nightcream, water and forget about it for a few years.

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
I stopped tanning beds in my early 20s very early 20s. I also avoid the beach and almost always wear sunscreen. Im n my early 30s and some people still think Im in my 20s...Im telling you this is great advice. And as for botox that's a bit extreme. I am waiting until I feel I need it ..If I ever care to get it..Im undecided right now. Also I agree with the drinking lots of water daily...It is a simple yet effective way to maintain beauty.

Everyone wants to live long, but no one wants to grow old......

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
Agree with the ladies here. I know a girl who gets preventative botox and it makes her look waaaaaaay older than she is. Ill definitely get botox eventually. Im starting to get a couple little tiny wrinkles around my eyes now at 28 but its no where near enough to worry about botox yet.
Sunscreen, anti-aging skincare, facials, and make sure you take off all your makeup at night, lots of water. Also this one is a bit drastic but if you are overly animated with your facial expressions maybe tone it down. My friend makes an angry face all the time and she has that deep line between her eyes from it.

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
Saw this and wanted to comment on my own experiences and i'm also a licensed nutritionist and physical trainer who believes eating right and exercising will keep you looking young if you start early. Seeing this I immediately thought of a girl who webcams part time at my cam house. She's been getting botox for almost 5 yrs now and she's 28. very small frame but large 34D's as well as butt injections which i never really understood what exactly they inject but in miami who knows and she said whatever it is it's not really supposed to be there but she does it anyway. she always has small needle marks on her butt as well as it looks so hard and disfigured so she's always going to try and make it more even and it just get larger and more uneven and harder/faker looking. since she's been getting botox her eyebrows are so high up on her head they look like the joker, her frown lines are not horizontal but a vertical line up and down her forehead and when she dances guys guess her to be 34 to 36 she said which makes her go get even more botox when they say this. I've never had anything done but i'm not against it and I dont go to tanning beds, if i do lay out i always wear sunscreen and i've used loreal night cream/wrinkle cream since i was 20 and most people guess me to be 23 to 25 and i'll be 30 in october. I've seen so many dancers who get botox in their face or lips and just look older and faker and it's an ongoing and expensive habit to get into. it's like your dancing to make money right for school, a car, a nicer place to live or whatever it is but then so many girls put that money back into trying to make themselves perfect so the clients keep tipping them so it's like a catch 22. the more you dance, the more you make the more you spend on making yourself look better to dance and before you know it you havent saved much and your a 35yr old stripper. no offense to those who are just saying if you start at 18 you'd think within 5 yrs or less you'd have saved enough to start a business. i'm all for eating healthy getting plenty of sleep staying out of the sun and using spray tans if you want to look tanner, using creams and staying away from drinking, drugs and alcohol because theirs nothing worse than a dancer with a smokers voice and dark circles

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
Agreed with the other ladies who encourage healthy diet + sunscreen + water + healthy lifestyle. It's funny how Americans (especially) are stuck in this mentality that we can throw crap in our bodies for 70+ years with no adverse effects. I am a believer in the theory that diet can intensely change your appearance for the better or worse.
Also remember that it's always better to have wrinkles than to have one of those Heidi Montag-esque plastic faces. I personally think that wrinkles like crow's feet are beautiful, as they usually indicate a life happily lived. That's much more attractive to me (and, yes, to men) than plastic-face.

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
Hmm, I don't exactly disagree with preventative botox....but I've also known a few girls who got it done and ended up looking older. The relaxation of those muscles has an effect on appearance, yanno? Personally, I've taken good care of myself, loooves me some sunscreen and am looking to start botox and peels probably in 2-3 yrs. Right now people still mistake me for 20-ish, which probably speaks more about their eyesight than my skincare, but anyhow....Imma leave it alone for another couple of years.

Oh, ya! I am a complete devotee of a vegetarian diet! Or really any diet that includes moderate lean proten, many fresh veggies and some grains with a few fruits and healthy oils. Fast food is garbage, put garbabe in, get garbage out.

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
I'm 24 and I just got little bit of Botox between my eyes on my forehead where I had visible wrinkling from squinting, etc. My makeup no longer settles in the creases and as a result my "breakout prone" spot is blemish free. I think it just depends on your individual face.

Getting botox before you actually need it will make your face look funny

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
I think 20 is a bit young to get botox. I have been getting botox for almost a year now (I'm 32). I had "worry" lines on my forehead and I hated them. I eat right and work out consitantly...tried all kinds of creams, that just inevitably just made me break out. Botox was a good choice for me. Everyone ages differently. It all depends on how well you take care of yourself and genetics play a role as well. If you are going to get it done, make sure you see someone who is trained, qualified and licensed. Too many of these "back alley" practioners are botching beautiful faces and giving botox a bad rap. A good practioner will not leave you looking like you have a plastic face or that circus clown eyebrow look.

I was thinking somewhere along those lines too.
I am 25 and no where near considering botox. I am still trying to get rid of pimples! LOL
Seriously I think it really depends on your skin type, sleeping habits, stress factors and how you eat. Treat your body with respect and it will pay you back! I have seen 60 year old ladies that look not a day older then 25. But then again I have seen 35 year olds that look like they belong in an old age home with all the people in their 80s.
My mom is a prime example of this. She has lost most of her teeth and looks much older then her real age. She is 48 and looks much older. She is my "white" side of the family (I am mixed-Asian and white). She works heavy labor (in construction/ home renos) but only eats like 1 or 2 times a day. People in our family and our doctor (our doctor has been seeing us for about 28 years) have been getting on her about this stuff for years. She has benefits and a good job so there is no reason she should not be going to a dentist.
My father died at 74 of cancer. This was mainly because of his refusal to go to the doctor. Other then that he had all his teeth, ate good and was 5'10 155 pounds his whole life. IMO his cancer may have come from the fact that he worked around gases and dangerous chemicals. He was a workaholic.
My dad did not have grey hair and did not have many wrinkles either. But being Asian was really on his side. Asian people don't age as quickly as white people do.
I also see the same to be true with black people, they don't age as quickly and seem to take the sun better (they don't burn as fast)

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
I am 39 and even now see no reason to get botox. My mom is 63 and still doesn't have wrinkles. My grandparents in their 80's have only gotten wrinkles in the last few years. I think the secret is not to lay often in the sun, especially without sunscreen, eat healthy (I eat lots of fruits and veggies), drink lots of water, don't wear a lot of makeup (I am makeup less usually at home), and stay healthy.

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
Don't do it! People that have had lots of botox don't look younger, they just look artificial!
-
Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
I actually just read somewhere that getting it early builds up resistance to it so it won't work as well later. Definitely puttin a stop on using it for now.. It might really be smarter just to live healthy for now.

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
well the age at which a person should elect to get botox or fillers would depend on their skin and what it looks like. ive seen some 20 year olds with wrinkle due to excessive tanning and my grandma who is in her 60s has none. if you say you have no wrinkles i see no reason to waste your money on it right now. just stay out of the sun and take preventative measures and you should be fine for a decade or so.

Re: When is it too early to get botox? or is it every too early??
I am 32 years old and have very little wrinkles. The main things I have done and continue to do to keep myself as smooth as possible include:
eating a decently heathy diet where I eat a normal amount of calories and include a good amount of fat esp. olive oil, good fats. eat mostly high quality, organic foods. No body's perfect though I prefer french fries and cheese poppers }:D
rubbing my special mix of organic oils all over my skin (jojoba, cedar nut, almond, seseme seed, hemp oil) I am also trying a new oil that I am very excited about: tamanu oil ;D
watching where I crease my skin the most by my expressions and then stop making that expression. Like alot of people crease their brows alot. I actively try not to crease my brow. I also found this book, Five-minute face-lift, yesterday and am excited to try it.
drink alot of water, pure fitered water, out of glass containers is best
make sure to exfoliate and moisturise the proper amount for my skin
I wish I had more information on botox for you but I am waiting right now! I want to see if I can do it on my own first. Maybe in a couple of years! Good luck to you either way!
