Re: Investing in yourself?
I invest in MAC makeup, pedicures, eyebrow waxing, bikini waxing, acrylic nails and plastic surgery lol! Ignore the last thing. But, I think the more money you invest in yourself the more money you earn. I can't tell you how many times I get complimented on my hair or my nails. Guys do notice things like that. Even though we think they don't.
Re: Investing in yourself?
Gettin my hair did! :D
I spent my whole life either cutting/dyeing my own hair, getting it done by friends, or going to Supercuts :P
A few months ago I went to a "real" hair salon for the 1st time & got it cut/highlighted. It came out great & felt nice to indulge
I got a pole for my house and it's fun to play on, even if I'm not working super-hard trying to learn fancy tricks on it. Makes working out tolerable.
And of course, pretty dresses and jewelry (like I got my 1st ever high-quality necklace & matching earring set a month ago, $45, it's the most I've ever spent on a jewelry set).
I've been trying to look "expensive" lately :)
Re: Investing in yourself?
Why not invest in yourself... most of its a tax write off.. Im a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my appearance. I hate to have any little detail off. I feel much more confident when I know I look good.
Me
- pole classes at least 2 sessions/year - 16 classes
- hair - every 6 weeks, colour, treatment
- clip in hair extensions almost every night I work
- mac makeup - its goes on my face...I only use mac Im not cheaping out my face
- spray tan -every week
- acrylic infills - every 2-3 weeks
- perfume - "jessie" actually has her own perfume - the real me wears a different smell
- eyelash extensions - every 2-3 weeks
- facials and massages - a few times a year
- pedicure - once a month
- juvederm for lips - got this last year and need more now but Im off work so cant afford it
- shoes - new dancer shoes 2-3x year and clean and deodorize every night
- costumes/bikinis/outfits - I have tons I never wear and tend to wear my same favourites but I basically buy a new one whenever I feel a bit down and like I need an extra boost.
- boobies - just got them 2 weeks ago (not just for work but they will come in handy Im sure)
- gym membership - usually use it 3-4 times a week
Re: Investing in yourself?
my big investments are outfits. some girls like to wear the same few outfits frequently, and if that works for them, awesome. but i love to play with my look/style and change it up. i have outfits that i only wear weekends (bright, flashy, attention getting and tiny) and weeknights (more sophisticated, classy, soft looks). one night i can look kind of punkrock and the next like a soft and heavenly lady.
other than that:
hair-- dyed every couple months, clip in hair extensions, hair products
makeup-- i don't go too expensive, but i buy a lot of it
false eyelashes-- i buy them in bulk, love them!
spray tan every week
nails done every 2 weeks
eyebrow waxes whenever needed
Re: Investing in yourself?
I think some things are worth investing in and others you can do yourself to save money.
The things i invest in are;
1. Hair cut and colour
2. facials and massages
3.good quality make up and moisturiser
4. yoga and pilates classes
5. eyebrow wax
Things i do myself at home.
1. manicure
2. pedicure
3. shave legs and bikini line
4. more yoga and pilates (i dont pay for classs every day).
Re: Investing in yourself?
- breast implants ( bigger 'tits' means bigger tips )
- home gym equipment ( treadmill, weight machine - allows you to establish a daily routine that includes your workouts versus sporadic trips to a health club)
- home tanning bed ( better results than bottle tans, and much safer to do 2-3 minutes every day or two versus weekly 15-20 minute 'bakes' at a tanning salon )
- 'upscale' dancing outfits ( the more 'expensive' you look, the more customer money you will attract !)
Re: Investing in yourself?
Pedicures: every 3 weeks ( I am so vain about my little size 4 feet)
Stripper pole: I have one but my burmese python commandeered it.
I don't tan but I spend a shitload in SPF 100 sunblock, hats, umbrellas and sunglasses plus avoiding the sun unless absolutely necessary. (Like if my apt is on fire)
Tattoos: I have 20 and counting
My outfits. I buy so goddamn many plus I have custom made fetish wear. My bf is also quite adept at making chain mail bikinis.
Shoes: I get new ones 4x a year plus always try to have an extra pair of my primary pair in reserve.
I have a gym membership in addition to my insanity DVD.
Whips, chains, nipple clamps, extra panties, etc are also things I keep in reserve. Good S&M stuff costs $$$, not the crappy little poseur shit that curious yuppies buy at the corner porn shop.
Makeup, body spray, wipies, all essentials.
Re: Investing in yourself?
Shit I forgot to mention sex toys and waxing. (I still do the peep show thing now that I'm over the Chickenlover incident)
Re: Investing in yourself?
do you feel that sometimes when it is white trash night, that looking too expensive could potentially damage your earning potential for that evening. I try not to judge but budweizer drinking kinda guys always seem to, in my opinion go for cheap unpolished looking girls
Re: Investing in yourself?
but what do we do on nights when whit trash Budweiser drinkers occupy the club? Go in the bathroom change to something trashy and take off out make up;D:D

Well, that's when you take care of yourself, but you do it in a way to look a little on the trashy side lol. When I worked in GA it was all blacklight outfits and crazy nails/hair. I still got manis/pedis but in a way that fit in with the clubs where I worked. So instead of looking 'expensive' I just tried to look 'bright' to catch attention since it was mostly stage money anyway.
Re: Investing in yourself?
I back the idea that looking expensive makes you expensive - although i never over spent my routine had to include gym, nails, haircut and colour and new outfits as standard.
If you feel like a million bucks you exude it and guys will pay for that - i always came across as polished, even when i tried to downplay it - i was still the most expensive looking trashy gal ITC and guys paid me accordingly. Just do whatever makes you feel good. I swear by good hair and nails - the two things that stand out most - even now i'm retired guys always compliment me on my hair so i'd say that should be a priority.
Re: Investing in yourself?
IDK why I bother sometimes... I shell out good $$$ for costumes, I am zealous about my hygeine, brushing, flossing, but some little fucking skeezy bitch smelling like a dumpster wearing a crappy ass bikini from walmart makes more $$$ for her goddamn crack fix. Guys seem to like that shit, so today imma roll outta bed, not do my hair or shower and see what happens. (you know I'm kidding, right?)
Re: Investing in yourself?
Yeah I just couldn't do it. There was a girl in WS that had micro braids that she left in for months and they smelled and were caked in big chunks of dandruff. She made bank every night, just by being skanky. But I just couldn't do it, I'm too much of a perfectionist.
Re: Investing in yourself?
I was already "stripperlicious" before I became a stripper. I guess I am your typical Jersey girl, tanned with enhanced boobs. LOL. I already had my boobs done, tanned on occasion, always had my hair done nicely. I always watched what I eat too. It's not perfect, but it's not shitty either. I drink lots of water & take my vitamins. I like to look good, whether I was going to be a stripper or not...i'm high maintnance.
I use to go to the gym before stripping, but haven't gone back since i've started dancing. I feel like i'm getting a work out at work, but will go to a yoga/pilates studio as soon as I move into my new town.
Now I just keep up with my tan, hair, pedi & mani(I do this myself). I stopped going to the nail salon for fake nails & saved more money that way. I do my own nicely anyway.
I do at home facials & hair treatments. I get a professional facial done on occasions. I treat myself to a day at the spa for massages.
I wanna look young & fit for as long as possible. This is why I try to keep the drinking as low as possible. I'm good with that. Never did drugs either, don't care for it. Also, you think young = "look young". The mind is a powerful thing.
I try to get enough sleep. Have nothing in life to stress about(as of now).
Stripper maintnance is a lot of fucking work!
Forgot to add: I also will pay a pretty penny for work stuff. I wont buy cheap ugly shit, esp shit that everybody else has. It's worth it. I agree with who ever said, "Look expensive, attract expense". ;)
Re: Investing in yourself?
^I like your style Vyanka. This is what I'm aspiring to, having a stress free life and look fab.

AH! I don't understand this either!! There's this one girl at my club with crappy extensions reminiscent of some Britney Spears mistakes, teeth missing and a lumpy cheap lookin boob job (she's also like, giant) and I don't understand it, I always see her dragging men to the lapdance area.
But I guess for what it's worth I never see her go into the champagne room ;)
But enough bitching from me!
I highly recommend massages. I know that I am worn out and get twisted up from dances (and I have a messed up shoulder) so I got a membership at a massage place and go in once a month. Massages reduce stress hormones and it's good for getting the kinks out.
I don't get manicures (I do it myself), but I *do* get pedicures. I do lots of styles of dance outside of work that require me to be barefoot so I have to make sure my feet don't look mangled, also guys always comment on my shoes so I'm sure they're seeing my feet.
I don't get my hair done, but I wear wigs and I buy a lot of them, and not cheap wigs! Cheap wigs will not last a week in a club. I'm totally ready to jump on the salon cut and color bandwagon though, I just am a commitment-phobe and need to find a style I like.
Gym 6 times a week for me, keeps me chipper.
For the girls that have their own poles to work with, do you have any recommendations? I'm not about to go grab one right away at Spencer's gifts, their store isn't necessarily synonymous with quality ;)
Re: Investing in yourself?
I might be the only stripper who doesn't tan or get my nails done. :(
I guess I invested the most in outfits, but even though the most I ever spent on an outfit was $60. Found a great shop in Vegas (that's sadly no longer there) where I could get 2 bikinis for around $25-$30. :)
I never wore the same thing twice in a week.
I bought MAC foundation before, I'd probably buy that again.
Just can't bring myself to spend $30 on eyeshadow that I can get at Wal Mart for like $6 bucks. I guess to me it does the same thing.
I guess I'm just cheap/thrifty...lol
I'll even reuse my false eyelashes until I've either fell asleep in them or cried in them... Lol
I would love day though love to splurge on my hair! :)
Re: Investing in yourself?
^ I don't tan, and I've literally never gotten my nails done! I'm super frugal.
Re: Investing in yourself?
I do hair
nails
gym
good makeup
have a natural tan
I have been working a in club where trash girls bank for a few weeks now the first week was hard, but now with my roots showin ive been doin pretty well, getting my hair done this week and moving clubs.
Re: Investing in yourself?
I spend $ for a hot, original outfit that isn't a copy of what everyone else has on. I go to the fabric store, by 2 yards of a print I like and take it elsewhere to get made into something. I put my own crystals on my outfits now since when others do it, they jack the price up.
I have to spend $ on hair, that goes without saying. I'm going for more expensive extensions when the fall hits, it's too hot for mid-back length hair at the moment.
I go to get pedis, and do my own in between those visits. I hate having people touch my feet so I will admit I don't go in unless I absolutely have to. I have tons of nail files, cuticle scissors, silicone foot cream, ravors and pumice stones.
I would love to get fake nails, but everytime I do I break out. Even when I try to keep them clean my face would break out. I have a bad habit of touching my face at times and it is always obvious when my nails are done. So I don't do them anymore.
Spending $$ on makeup is fun, but not always necessary. There are brands cheaper than MAC that get the job done. I'm no make-up miser either, I love high end brands. Splurging at NYX instead of MAC will really leave some cash in your wallet.
Make Up For Ever blows MAC out of the water anyhow, but it isn't easy to get a hold of for some.

I've worked for months with dancers who wear the same 3 or 4 outfits, no makeup or nails done and they still bank consistently.
Anyone smelling would get embarrassed by the housemom, so I rarely encounter that. I do know the feeling though but I still like to be stripperfied even if others work in an old two piece thond outfit that has seen better days.
Re: Investing in yourself?
I can not bring my self to do this.but I would love to go up to one of these guys and say.You want a dance from her are u kidding?Dude are you in denial of something. This girl at my club wobbles like a duck, and she banks ,no nails make up, flat hair.I don't get it,maybe I should try going in without brushing my teeth........eww}:D:D........:smellie_p:smellie_p
Re: Investing in yourself?
I think some guys are attracted to imperfection. Not saying that's an excuse to smell bad or anything, but there's something sexy about women who are approachable as a result of not looking like 10's. Girl next door n' all that shiz.
Or maybe it's that the smelly ones are turnin' tricks in VIP.
