Since you don't specify, I'm going to assume that you have saline breast implants ... and that by being able to 'see' your breast implants you're referring to folds in the implant bag becoming more visible as you weight loss has reduced the amount of 'fatty tissue' in your breast skin.
There are a few options here. First option is to have your PS add more saline to your existing implants. Overfilling saline breast implants forces out the folds in the implant bag. But overfilling also causes the implant to become rounder and firmer, but narrower as well. This is the least expensive option ( since it doesn't involve purchasing new implants ), but you may not like the overall result which may increase the 'gap' between now narrower implants ... overfilled implants that will definitely have a less natural appearance.
Second option is to switch to silicone gel implants of the same size range. The much higher viscosity of the silicone gel tends to inhibit any folds in the implant bag from being as noticeable.
Third option, as you already pointed out, is to consider having a re-do with larger implants ... by 200-300cc or so. This will restore the 'tension' applied to the implant bags by the surrounding breast skin. In conjunction with a switch to silicone implants, this option is more or less guaranteed to cure implant 'visibility' problems. The 'drawback' ( if you consider it as such ) is that you'll wind up 'growing' an additional cup size.
well, with the changes in FDA rules, and the fact that you have experienced 'negative' results with saline implants, you shouldn't have any problem whatsoever getting silicone implants for a re-do. And seeing as how you live in LA, an extra cup size shouldn't raise any eyebrows either !
That's the bad part about a boobjob, changes in weight will change the appearance. I'd say either gain it back or new boobjob. I know it's not very appealing either way..
Melonie-I have a similar problem with the rippling on the underside of my breasts-due to loss of fatty tissue after having my baby. I went to 3 different doctors, and they said the only option is to put in new implants. I asked if they could just add more saline, and they said no, that I would have to undergo surgery and get new implants. But you say they CAN just add more saline to my existing implants?
yes i lost over twenty pounds and the rippling sucks..i just deal w it..i could get them redone but right now its not worth it to me..getting them redone seems like the only way to fix the problem
Technically speaking, yes. But with 'standard' saline implants this still means another trip to the OR, the doctor cutting open your breast incisions to reach the implant's filler valves ( which are normally on the chest wall side of the implant, attaching a filler tube, adding saline, resealing the implant's filler valve, closing the incision etc. In other words, it involves everything that new implants would involve, with the exception of the $1000 price ( or whatever ) of purchasing new implants. It also involves the additional risk that the implant's filler valves won't reseal properly a second time ... plus the original risk that an implant bag with serious folds was weakened every time those folds flexed over each other thus may fail sooner. This is the reason that most doctors won't consider adding saline to existing implants. However, it's routinely done for custom made implants where the $5000+ cost of custom implants is NOT as 'trivial' as the $1000 cost of catalog implants ( nor are custom implants anywhere near as readily available as 'catalog' sized implants ).Quote:

If you want to be sure of good results a second time around, A. go 200-300cc larger to restore the 'tension' of the breast skin over the implants, and B. switch to silicone implants on the basis of 'poor results' with previous saline implants.
I thought fake boobs were just like real boobs?
Thanks Melonie!
mine are doing the same...i got them years ago and since my weight has fluctuated since then my real boobs r sagging over the implant...dunno how elsed to explain b ut it looks bad. time for a new set i guess...
^^^ yup new and bigger set to tighten up your breast skin again WITHOUT resorting to lift surgery.
Actually with this issue I find a major similarity. How many women(without implants) complain about how unhappy they are with the physical appearance of their breasts after losing weight? A lot. Can happen with realies or fakies. The look of boobs, real or fake, can change a lot with weight gain or loss.
