Start Camming - Quick 101
Here I am aiming to do a VERY quick/general instructional post about the basic process of camming. Im hoping to make this sticky worthy so I WILL NEED YOUR HELP! please fill in what is missing and elaborate (pros/cons/opinion) on whats already posted. I will come in periodically and edit this original post based on everyone's info.... think of it is as a quick cam wiki ;)
1. DO YOUR RESEARCH! Search forums & threads and read EVERYTHING!
2. get a decent webcam: Logitech Pro 9000/ Orbitz/....../....../…..
-make a little money then upgrade. Some suggested upgrades are: (HD camcorders) Sony/Canon/.......
3. choose a name: consider “life-like” names vs. playful names, you may want to Brand yourself in the future
4. throw together a couple of outfits and toys: spend little to nothing
5. start a blog
No need to worry about updating yet, just make sure you can reserve your chosen name
6. sign up for payment processors:
- some sites have their own payment processors
-epassporte
- alertpay
-……………
7. google: cam sites/cam girl/……/……/……..
8. Check forums regarding the sites in your google results
-consider security issues? payouts? pay schedules? traffic? no free chat? non nude? fetish friendly?
check out this thread for already-posted cam site info: http://forum.stripperweb.com/showthread.php?t=137369
9. decide which ones you want to try
10. Sign up for your selected cam sites
11. Set a schedule
***at this point, you may want to begin updating your blog with your cam info: sites & schedule. Also, consider creating (social networking) a myspace, facebook, twitter…. For your persona. ***
12. Watch a few cams and videos to get show ideas: pay attention to their customer interaction/dancing/talking/terminology (don't flat-out copy others though!)
13. Google different fetishes and tricks: role play/faking orgasms/faking squirting/golden showers/Small Cock Humiliation/Cuckolding, Dominatrix/feet/ ANYTHING & EVERYTHING you can think of!
14. Start camming 2-3 weeks on your self-made schedule
15. Take a break
16. Start camming again
17. If you want to continue camming, invest.
Buy more toys and outfits, upgrade webcam, tweak schedule (if needed), update social network profiles more frequently….. consider going independent
INDEPENDENT
1. Sign Up with Indy Sites
-Camgirlsites:
-Xxxcambabes:
-Websfinest:
-..........
2. Sign Up with payment processors:
-AlertPay
-CCBill: if you have a website
-Zombaio: if you have a website
-ticketsclub: if you have a website
3. Promote/Brand your persona
please remember contributors, this post will mainly apply to those starting from ground zero, so please keep info short and simple. THANKS!

Re: Start Camming - Quick 101
In my opinion you are going about it backwards.
I can't understand why newbies think they need a blog or website or payment processors. If you work for a cam site and you send customers there they are going to fire you immediately! (with the exception of MFC, but even they frown on payments other than tokens through the site).
It's very hard to start out processing your own payments unless you have experience and a large following so unless have customers already there really is no need to get payment processors.
Also the blog can wait in my opinion. Much better to find a site with traffic, sign up, just jump and start camming, then explore other options like a blog and websites and payment processors later. (and this is something you build on your own, over time by finding your own customers, not something you would use to steal customers from the sites you work for).

Re: Start Camming - Quick 101
Courtesy of the Lovely Ladies Here...... This is what I have learned. Especially Malaya, Minnie, and Raven!!!!
1. First Search the Threads Here and READ! Read every thread that you can because it is lots of valuable information on camming.
2. Buy a decent and affordable webcam like a Logitech Pro 9000 or Orbitz. Until you are able to Upgrade later.
3. Sign up with epassporte if you want to receive your money through them when you get paid even though cam sites do have other options.
4. Come up with a Cam Girl Name. You probably want a name you can brand just in case you want make it an "Image when you go Indy" so BRAND yourself.
5. Sign Up with many Big Cam Websites like Imlive, Streamate, Webcams, MyFreeCams, Cam.com, Camcontact, Adultwork, LiveJasmine, etc ( there are many cam sites out there so search and read) Type in each cam site to pull up information on it here to find out the pros and cons on each one.
6. It will be trial and error to find a cam site that works for you. Just because it works for one lady does not mean it will work for you. So experiment.
7. See if you actually want to cam before investing money into it. Have a goal of what you want to make a day and see which cam site helps you reach it faster.
8. Try to have a consistent schedule for a week or two to see how you like it. Cam in blocks like 3-4 hours and take a break then repeat.
9. Once you feel like you want to do this and made some money then start investing back in the business. Buy toys, costumes/outfits, upgrade webcam, upgrade internet connection, etc.
10. Learn and get familiar with different Fetishes and learn how to Role Play. Learn webcamming tricks like faking orgasms, faking squirting, and even peeing...lol ( Again search the threads here and or Google) Common fetishes SPH= Small Cock Humiliation, Cuckolding, Dominatrix, Modeling, Feet, etc..many many more,
11. Start a BLOG to bring in traffic. Use every social networking site you can think of to promote and market yourself such as Twitter, Facebook, and yes even Myspace.
12. Look at other Ladies on cam sites to get tips from them. Pay attention to how they talk, move, dance, and interact with potential customers.
13. When you can not find an answer then just ask a question here or to any of the friendly ladies here and they will gladly help.
14. Start going Indy ( Independent Web camming) since it will put more money in your pocket and give you more control on your business.
15. Sign Up with Indy Sites like camgirlsites, xxxcambabes, websfinest, etc
16. Sign Up with payment processors like AlertPay, CCBill, and Zombaio (if you have a website then zombaio).
17. Promote, Promote, Promote yourself Indy so you can take home more pay even though the bigger sites do help bringing you traffic
18. You can work big web cam sites together while you are INDY too. Just use manycams and splitcam.
19. Save your money and do not forget to put money aside for taxes as well.
20. Check out other webcamming forums too like textilicious.com , psosupport.com, adult-webcam-faq, and camgirlhandbook. And read all Malaya Threads
Sorry, If all my information is not on point. I am a newbie camgirl myself so I am still learnig as well.....( Started in February...lol) but this is what I have gathered in a nut-shell so far......

It's interesting to me how some call those Indy sites (not just you, ive heard it several times).
To me, if they are processing payments for you and taking a part of your earnings then you are still working through and for them and they could remove you at any time. (and they often do just that I hear if you violate their rules or if they even think you have taken any payment outside their site, or if you have too high of a chargeback rate).
To me, independent would be finding your own customers through a blog or website, having your own payment processor such as Alertpay or accepting payment with Greendot moneypaks or similar things.

Re: Start Camming - Quick 101
^ Ummm those are Independent camgirl Listing sites..
Yes they are BUT you are free to call it what you want of course!
I guess google thinks so too.

Maybe I misunderstood, but I used to work for xxxcambabes and they took part of my earnings! A big chunk too as I recall.
Also a couple ladies got banned for taking payment outside their processor too.
Have they changed now to allow you to accept your own payments and not give them a cut?

Yeah, I understand what you mean..... maybe not the best terminology because complete Indy will be I suppose no middle man...But in the end yes the best option is always to promote your own website and or blog and set up payments through a payment processor and stuff....so you can have more control over all aspects of the business.

Re: Start Camming - Quick 101
@ laurie.. Read my post again..
That is just what they're called. I never mentioned anything about a payment processor.
Fact of the matter is Indy sites take less than big camsites. They're still Independent camgirl listing sites in the sense that we're independent camgirls and list on their site and customers find us on THEIR site.
@ Hustlette: It is the best terminology if google says it is. :) You got it right hun! I pm'd you btw.

Yes, very true, they do take a lot less percentage.
I would love to be truly independent and find a steady stream of customers my own without giving anyone a percentage of the $. (Much easier said than done)! :)

GREAT POST! I really appreciate you taking the time to type all that out and ADD to the post instead of trying to to tear apart something that hasn't even had the chance to develop. Ill chop it up, edit and add your valued info to the orig
of course nothing will work for anyone 100% it’s all about taking info, mix it up and do what works in ones situation. I just want to create a starter point for those who might be looking
Yeah there is a lot of info in the forums but what I’ve noticed is things are very spread out and the search feature isn’t the best. Some questions are never answered or elaborated on. Some issues aren’t updated or re-addressed

Thanks for sharing your opinion. Payment processors, I dont know much about so can't really comment there just yet. In my opinon the blog goes hand in hand with building a fanbase so i think its pretty important to give it some LIGHT attention from the start. im not talking all out graphics and major photo shoots. just, get a name, throw up a pic, stats and schedule. who said anything about stealing customers?
i mentioned payment processors because it was my understanding it allows you to add funds from different sites, i think most girls are on more than on sites (even from day 1).... please, ANYONE correct me if im wrong
if you have anything to actually add to the post, it is welcomed! :)

Re: Start Camming - Quick 101
I THINK A BLOG IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.
1. keep your fans connected... why wouldnt you want to?
2. get new customers.... % get your referral money up.
3. its the start of being independent when the site gets old... your fans always can keep up, no matter where you cam at.
okay?
I can attest having over 6 blogs since i started, i have made money BECAUSE of it.
promo promo promo
these same blog readers...start turning into MEMBERS { IF YOU HAVE THAT SECTION , EVENTUALLY...dont rush on that)
we need a camgirl hustle thread....
and I need Hustler of the year award...haha

Re: Start Camming - Quick 101
2. get a decent webcam: Logitech Pro 9000/ Orbitz/....../....../…..
-make a little money then upgrade. Some suggested upgrades are:
Logitech cams are really the best webcams to go with. They might be a little expensive for some but there worth it. Once you make money you can always upgrade to an HD camcorder preferably one with a remote so you can control your show. In my opinion the best brands for camcorders are canon and sony.
