The 9000 is one of the best for webcams. If you feel like making an investment you can go for a digital camcorder and stream it. The nice things about camcorders is you can get one with a remote control so you can zoom and pan easier, plus they can take vid/pics for whatever teasers you might wanna do down the road.
Some of the older Sony Handycams (5-10 years) are still great for hosting so you don't need to go too nuts, unless you plan on doing HD. You can probably get one on eBay for under $200.
Just make sure you have whatever imput is needed for the camera before you buy it.. S-Video/Firewire, ect. You can use an adapter for USB but you will lose a bit of quality.
i use the logitech 9000, as far as the lag try unchecking the facetracking box, and the "rightlight" box
I have a logitech 9000 and sometimes I use the cam thats already embedded on my HP laptop ....
i have the logitech 9000, as i think most do.... i love it !
yeas it does lag sometimes with rightlight.... just turn that feature off or the face tracker off like Rylee just mentioned.
I can't find the one a fellow webcam girl made years ago.. but this one pretty much explains it: http://unique.20webs.com/weblight.html
Tip: I found having a light directly pointed at me without a shade gave me headaches and made me tired really quick, so try to soften it just a bit with something.
I also get great light when the sun is out.. If you have a large window in the room your camming in try to take advantage of it when you cam during the day.
I use the 9000 as well. I just got the orbit but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I brought lighting from . The lighting I got was only like $130 and it really made a different... I wish I invested in professional lighting sooner.
You don't need to change your cam, when your using it you need to have it n the basic settings with your logitech or disable the logitech software.
and your lagging might be your computer power, sometimes when you increase your RAM in your computer things improve. So it would be a idea to find out what are your computer stats and see about upgrading your computer.
Upgrading - usually is the RAM, maybe the video card. (if your not usre how to do it from watching youtube videos then take it to a best buy or future shop tech guy or find a local computer repair guy or nerds on site.)
You would tell them your using your computer to stream live video over the internet like on ustream.tv and you need to make sure you have the best quality your computer can produce.
and as for lighting you might not need the high tech semi pro stuff, if you can get the the regular light bulbs that produce 100 watts of light but actually use 60 watts of power then your set. I am actually going to have to sell my pro lamps and go back to my regular walmart lamps.
If you do us regular lamps you should try fluorescent bulbs because they give off better lighting. Make sure you check how much wattage your lights can handle because they can get pretty hot.
i have a reg desk lamp (the kind with the bendable arm thingie that holds the light) that has a LED bulb in it pointed right above my cam at me, a tall torch lamp with compact fluorescent bulb, and my lamp on my nitestand in the corner. all from target
Logitech 9000 is the way too go. But I also have an HD Flip!!! It's AMAZABALLS!!!! You can put it in you pocket wherever you go, and make naughty vids for your profile. Or you can hook it up to your comp, and cam. :}
Check out Amazon.com. That's where I bought mine, and I found a pretty good deal. You just can't beat the quality!
Good Luck!! And YAY!!!
