some clubs do...kinda like if you get a food handlers card, most restaurants keep it on hand until you quit or get fired.
o lol. once i got home i freaked out! but thanks!!
The club keeps it? How are you supposed to go audition at other clubs? (forgive my ignorance, but we don't have permits in my area so I have no idea how these things work).
No, i think they are only supposed to copy it. I have never heard of them keeping it, I thought we were supposed to always have it with us "in case".
A couple of clubs in Vegas hold on to your sheriff's card.
I'm assuming that is like a permit. Maybe I'm wrong.
Good thing out here, no license/permit/sheriff's card to dance! :D
they may have forgotten to give it back to you tho; i would just ask lol. and i meant to say in my last post that i have heard that some clubs do like to hold them. i don't actually know that for sure tho since i've never had that happen to me. wouldn't consider it unlikely tho since some clubs don't like it when you work at other clubs (from what i've been told tho this is kinda rare.)
interesting tidbit ...
You can usually audition without showing your permit / license ... but you can't actually 'work'. Thus clubs hanging onto dancers' permits / licenses serves as a de-facto guarantee that the particular dancer won't be able to work at multiple clubs in the same 'market' at the same time. In the cases where even an audition is not legally allowed without a permit / license, clubs hanging onto dancers' permits / licenses provides clubowners with de-facto 'dancer loyalty' i.e. they must first quit their present club in order to get their license back to try and get hired by a different club.Quote:

^^^ That seems like that would be illegal, since we're independent contractors. Is it?
Yeah that's standard procedure at quite a few clubs in DeKalb county... it sucks because one of the perks about working in DeKalb IS that you can have one permit and work multiple locations. You could say you lost it and go back to the police station and pay like $15 for a replacement. That's what I did when I wanted to work multiple clubs in that county.
im new in atlanta and been thinking about dancing. i never done it before so any advice helps thanks
