x-pole makes a good sturdy portable. i have one. goes up and comes down pretty easily and is sturdy enough for heavy pole work. runs about $350. some other reputable brand names are platinum stages and lil minx.
I second Mandy. After doing a bunch of research I decided on an XPole as well. I just purchased the Xpole Sport on Wednesday. They say its easy to assemble and take down, drilling into the ceiling isn't necessary. It ran me $280 all together. It should arrive on Thursday. I'm so excited! ;D
FYI- If you go on the website you will find that they have different versions available. There is the static pole and another one that can either spin or be static. Also they have two different finishes to choose from: chrome or titanium, plus you can purchase a 45mm or 50mm depending on your preference.
Xpole! They are suposed to be the best. I live in an apartment and am waiting for my pole to arrive on monday. I'm getting the 45mm titanium finish xpole xpert. Ill keep you updated and let you know if it's any good.
Xpole. Once you properly figure the height and such you merely just loosen it and take it down / put back up. Make sure you give it time to sink into the carpet / push against the ceiling and continually tighten it until you think it's done moving. be safe!
Xpole. Titanium finish is grippier, so I'd recommend that (it's what I have). It's easy to put up and take down so long as you do it semi-frequently. I have two pieces that won't come apart because I left it up without disassembling it for over a year.
so i am the only one that was sold a defective xpole? i will look into the lil minx and plat stages one.
Just got an x-pole a month ago. I don't think I have the grippy finish. I have to use dry hands for holds. But I figure if I can learn on a slippery pole, I can work on any pole.
I have carpet and it works fine and yes, it was easy to assemble.
corey, is your ceiling smooth or plaster?
the fact that everyone keeps saying it's easy to assemble is only confirming that they sent me a defective product.
no, i bought it from their site
yes, i sent it back after they told asked me why i didn't have a maintenance man in my bedroom to help me, and "why is it that you're the only person who can't set up the pole correctly"
This REEKS of "bad idea" to me. If it's something you have to hide from your parents it's probably not something you should be doing without talking to them. What would happen if they found it? Do you really want to have to argue with them after the fact?
You ought to talk to them about this before you do it... especially since it sounds like you are living in THEIR house.
yeah also if you are living with your parents, then you would have to avert disaster when the delivery man came, i know my lilmynx def came as a pole in a box, pretty obvious
Not to mention the potential to do damage to their place... like the ceiling or the beams in the ceiling.
Hey, I have an X-pole and love it ... but I don't think you're going to want to put it up and down every time you practice. It takes 5-10 minutes (depending on how disassembled it was) and is hard to do with one person. It requires a ladder, and the pole is pretty heavy. I CAN put it up myself (I've done it three times), but it's a chore. I guarantee I would never practice if I had to do it every time.
Also, if you mount the pole very tightly, it can leave marks on the ceiling. And, if you don't unscrew all the pieces of the pole when you take it down (if you just loosen it), you have a full-length pole kicking around in your room -- not so subtle! I have MY OWN place, and take my advice, it's no fun hyperventilating while praying your mom won't notice the "plumbing pipe" nestled in the corner!
Yeah, I'm pro Platinum Stages too, not sure about Lil Minx. I've tried purchasing from X-Pole before, their product was out of stock and they couldn't guarantee a delivery time. No thanks. PS, on the other hand, I've never had a problem with.
I would also not take it up and down. It gets to be a real headache. The pole isn't that light. What's the big deal? Tell your parents you're practicing for the Olympics, lol.
I suggest the lil myxn or the x-pole.. I have the xpole and great. Well deff last for a good time. Goes around 400. I got mine for 315.. since I picked it up at their shipping place. As for hiding it... I would let your parents know.. tell them its for fitness.. who knows what might happen.
