Getting motivated to go in?
How do you ladies trick your minds into wanting to go in to work?
I've been having problems getting myself to go in to work this summer. Going in to work means I have to leave my beautiful, peaceful apartment. If I have nothing to do that day, then I just wait around the apartment dreading going in. Blah!
Things I do:
1) Watch clips of 'stripper movies': the cheesier the better. Striptease, Showgirls, etc.
2) Read about other clubs (club chat) on SW. For some reason this makes me want to go in more. I also stalk clubs' websites on stripclublist.com for fun: I like looking at photos of big, nice clubs.
3) Watch the dumbest 'documentary' ever, The Strip Game on hulu.com. Watching girls dance and make $$ makes me want to make money!
So excluding all of the ladies who just love going in to work these days, tell me your secrets for getting motivated!

Re: Getting motivated to go in?
eh, I don't really get motivated per se. I just drink a red bull and go in anyway, like I would for any other job. That's not the best advice I guess but it works for me. Getting there is the hardest part.

Re: Getting motivated to go in?
I don't think anyone really feels like going in. I just try to lazer my focus in on what I want to do with the money ( I'm allowing myself to buy some stuff now that my credit card is a little bit paid down ). This week it's a queen sized mattress + lux bedding to match my nice bedroom set ( which has my cheesy double mattress on it for the past year even though I intended to buy the Queen "in a couple months" ). I'm visualizing myself bringing cash to the mattress store, plopping on the fluffies, picking one, and handing over the cash. I get a thrill out of spending my stripper money still since most of what I've made in 2010 has just gone to debt from being depressed and lazy in 2009.

Re: Getting motivated to go in?
Just out of curiousity .... how close is a nice club to you? If it's something like 6-8 hours ... you could totally get an early start and drive out to one just to work a few days. Stay in a hostel to save on costs and your travel costs wouldn't be all that much ( my economy car costs $37-$40 to drive about 6 hours for example ..I've got it down to a science ... that's both ways for me, but even one way it's not so bad). This could totally scratch the "posh club itch" you have.

There are nicer clubs relatively close to me (1 hour +). I'm just a very practical person, and I recognize that my desire to work in a nicer club comes from a kind of "club ADD" in which it's almost easier for me to find a new club than to just work more consistently at my current club. I admire your willingness to drive so far out of your way for a club that works for you, but it'd be silly for me to do so.
And anyway, I burn out waaay too quickly these days to go somewhere and work for a few days in a row. I can only handle working about one night a week.
At my new club, I don't abhor working or anything. I'm just looking for ideas to take the edge off of the thought of going in.

Re: Getting motivated to go in?
Listening to upbeat, happy music makes me wanna go in sometimes.
New outfits always make me wanna go in because I'm excited/eager to wear them and show them off and try them out.
Today, I'm really unmotivated. Sundays suck.
Sooo...I'm gonna take a bubble bath, listen to music, shave, and just take my time getting ready. That way when I'm all "dolled up", I'll want to go to work and show it off.
(hope there's just people to show it off to!) :P
I like the idea on the stripper movies. I know that when I watch those, I always wanna go to work too. I'm gonna try that today. :)

Re: Getting motivated to go in?
I look at SW, play some music and remind myself of what drew me to dancing in the first place. Easy Money. Of course after dancing for sometime we all know that's not neccesarily true but hey..... It's easier than most, we get to listen to music, drink if we wAnt, and we don't HAVE to work. I think of nights where I was mentally not there but becAuse I was a hot half naked girl... SOMEONE spent money on me. I know I am totally romanticizing it but that's what gets me thru. I think about the 82 year old greeter at Wal Mart or the lady clearing plates at 3 am at Denny's or the 20% of people in my city standing in an unemployment line. Add in a glass of wine and suddenly my ass is motivated

Oh, here's the link to the silly documentary I've been watching lately:
http://www.hulu.com/watch/163630/the-strip-game
I skip past the commentary parts and just watch the dancing. :)

Really depressing, but very true.

Re: Getting motivated to go in?
I usually love working... but hate getting ready. The thing that gets me in the mood to work is my perfume - because I started wearing it when the money was REALLY good... so the smell always reminds me of making money.

Yeah, it's interesting. Nothing really profound, but it's entertaining.

I suppose it would be more interesting to someone who has never danced and doesn't know the environment. I showed some of it to my teenage sister and she was watching the scenes with the two-girl dances and just got a funny look on her face, :D LOL I just laughed and said, "yep, that shit is real." I found it to be very funny at some parts, but nothing I haven't seen before at some point in time. I'm a sucker for documentaries either way :)

Re: Getting motivated to go in?
alright. im leaving for work in an hour n half.
motivate me.

Re: Getting motivated to go in?
I just....go in. On days when I'm not motivated and it's really hard I just remind myself that I need to work to make a living and I have to go in regardless. I drink a Coke and and do my hair, and at the end of the night I'm usually happy I went in and didn't waste the day laying around home watching TV.
Listening to fun music helps too.

Re: Getting motivated to go in?
The fastest way to motivate me is to go to the mailbox and sort through all the bills I need to pay..lol that usually works everytime..lol
-
Re: Getting motivated to go in?
^Haha, yes. I'm looking more for positive stuff...things that make me go "Yeah! Stripping is fun and exactly like in the movies!" or "Let's go in tonight and hustle our asses off!"
Music is good, but surely there are other mind tricks out there...
I love _Avery_'s trick where she gets ready to go to work without committing to it (she dolls herself up), and then ends up deciding to go in just b/c she looks so hot. What a cool idea...
-
Re: Getting motivated to go in?
yeah i mean you cant waste all that pretty now you have to go in and show it off.....
some people talk about a routine before going in. so everytime you begin that you somehow subconsciously prepare youself
-
Re: Getting motivated to go in?
^Yes, I do this too. Sometimes it's hard to start the routine though, b/c you know it'll end with going in to work.
Am I the only one here with severe pre-work anxiety???

Re: Getting motivated to go in?
I tell myself I'm the most beautiful fucking woman in New York and people are going to spend a shitload of money on me tonight-not as much as I'm worth, because God doesn't even have that kind of money, but enough to let me buy _____ (plane ticket home, new shoes, whatever). And I keep telling myself that from the minute I've got my face on till the minute I climb in a cab home.

I love this espeacially the part about God not even having that much money. This is a fucking awesome mantra. I'm borrowing this after making appropriate adjustments. Thanks.;D

I do! It's rough. The hour before I go into work I'm pretty well a mess, and have myself convinced that I bound not to make a dime tonight, or ever again, the money I made the night before was just a fluke, and the money the night before that, and the night before that. I start getting all freaky, telling myself I'll never make another dime and I don't know how to hustle at all...blah blah blah. None of it's true. I'm an awesome hustler and it's not likely that my money will 'dry up' in the space of a day, but I work myself up pretty bad. Then I tend to just go blank until I'm actually at work in the dressing work and I start to feel better. It's so weird.
-
Re: Getting motivated to go in?
^Yeah, I do something similar. It's not like I talk myself down or anything, but I always feel a shitload of pressure to make money (even though I have no reason to feel this pressured).
