Grip with inside leg down the back of the calf from knee to ankle.
Push inside armpit back onto pole, lift your chest.
Drop your free leg directly behind you (not to the side). You're probably not opening your hip enough, so you're turning off the pole.
It's all about creating a lock, forces opposing.
The move in that video is harder, as it's a bit off balance, which is why you need the inside hand on. Make sure your hand is in your crotch, not in the way of your thigh grip.
Your link isn't working for me.
When I do that trick... I do it with no hands... but the only way I can maintain a grip... is to make sure there's nothing covering my sides.
Somehow... that little bit of bare skin gripping the pole makes a huge difference for me.
I do this with no hands too. You have to use your armpit (your side).
Think about where you are touching the pole. Your right leg should touch on the outside calf and the inside middle of your thigh, and SQUEEZE the back of your right armpit against your side HARD, around the pole. SQUEEZE SQUEEZE SQUEEZE! Then try letting go of your hands slowly.
I have a hard time nailing this trick once I invert with one leg for some reason. So, I let my free leg slowly swing around the pole and once it's in position I pull it down into the hold with both free hands. Mine looks more like an arrow, I'm laid back, as much as possible, and my arms are fully extended. Hope this doesn't confuse you.
Good luck, keep practicing!
Thanks everyone....too sore from last night to practice again today but I'm not giving up!
it took me a long time to get this down, and when i did get it it just happened out of the blue and i was like yayy. sometimes certain pole tricks just sneak up on you
