Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
I'm so heart broken right now! I was in a booth with a bachelor party for an hour tonight, dancing for the bachelor boy. Their were 4 or 5 other guys in the room too, but they were cheap-asses and weren't getting dances themselves (pet peeve of mine is bachelor parties who take up space, but oh well....).
They did an hour with me, then decided to change the girl up. The friend of the bachelors was paying, and I was right next to him when he was telling the waitress that I did and hour, blah, blah, blah, and the waitress said she would take care of it. At our club the men don't close out their tab until they're finished getting dances, as there's a charge for every transaction. It's normal for the waitress to keep track of what girls did what, and get the guy to pay it all out that the end. Not the way I like it, but it's worked well so far.
I go back to the waitress an hour later when I see the guys are leaving, and she says "Oh no, they said they paid you in cash babe".......>:( I'm super pissed and basically RUN across the club screaming at the bouncers to stop the bachelor party from leaving....which doesn't work. I literally catch up with the guys JUST outside the club doors (where the bouncers can no longer do anything)....and they tried to tell me they already paid me. Bull-SHIT! I argue with them (they're very hostile) out in the middle of the sidewalk in stirpper shoes and all. Finally the fork over $80. I wasn't willing to argue any more, so I just took the money and called them pathetic for trying to rip off a stripper.
I'm so upset! The waitress is claiming she never heard the guy tell her I did an hour, and the club always sides with the 'staff' so theirs nothing I can do. I had a pretty crumby Friday and only made $140 aside from the bachelor party, so this just broke my heart.
Has this happened to anyone else? How did you get over it. I never want to go back to the club again now, I feel so neglected and used.

When I got back the bitch told me that she had given the money to the customer because technically it was his and she couldn't keep it. I never found the custy.... I lost out on $160.
I will never know if the bartender kept it, or if the guy ran out on me.
Karmas a bitch tho because that same night a party walked out on a $260 tab and the manager made that same bartender pay for it that night. I saw her take out her debit card and pay.
OMG! It's a similar setup at our club actually - the guy pays and signs, and then the waitress goes to get your funny money. I could totally see that happening at my club too - it's one of the nicer strip clubs in town, but yeah, I can see how would happen.
Funny thing - I believe in karma too, and I know these guys will get theirs (along with the bimbo waitress). Revenge is sweet.

I noticed this once i got back into the locker rooms and ran after him but he sprinted out of there apparently. I was so upset but you live and learn.
HOLY HELL! That's rough! That's actually one of my biggest fears - guys who pay with fake bills. I always try to get the waitress to check 'em or do my best to check them myself. Sorry that happened to you, but again with Karma - that douche will the fake bills will get his.
Thanks for sharing ladies! This is actually making me feel a lot better....:) I guess misery loves company.
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
we all have a rip off story. it doesn't make it suck less but it happens. sorry you had to go thru it. it really sucks when it's staff that does the fucking over. *hugs*
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
^Thanks babe. It's true - we probably have rip off stories. Believe it or not it kinda helps to know that....makes me feel less stupid (even though I had done everything I could of).
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
i got upset when i got ripped off by $30! customer reckons he didnt get the full time and snatched all my money..bouncers only made him pay $20 instead of the $50.
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
Sorry that happened to you! It sucks how the transaction is organized like that, and the communation could have been better (from the waitress and bouncers!) You did everything you could have, keep your head high and know it happens to everyone in any job, you just met a few sour apples, the next day will be better!
Karma will get them back.
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
at the club we worked at together a guy ran out on 200$ of mine. He essentially said that even though I was there and dancing for him I wasn't doing enough so he wasn't going to pay. Then he started yelling about how I was just watching for the bouncer while the other girl fucked him???? And then! Then! the bouncer came over and the manager was like "whatever get him out of here." And they let him go.
girl got ripped off 200$ yesterday at my club and my friend at the same club got ripped off 20$ tonight. Both times they just made the guy pay their bar tab and sent them on their way. It's only a matter of time before word gets around that guys can go in, get dances and then essentially walk out because the bouncers and management won't back them up. They only care if people are ripping off their end of the business.
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
How abt when you sit with a guy for 45mins on a Friday all while he tells you oh "I'm going to take care of you" then he gives you ten dollars at the end of the night....yeah,thanx for taking care of me. At my club though they almost ALWAYS take the dancers side unless u are ugly, obnoxious,or a skeez. Everytime I've been ripped off managment got the cops involved and made the guy pay or they couldn't leave. Lol one time they had a guy in the office in handcuffs over $60 and even asked me would I like to press charges.....I love my club.

If a guy says "I'll take care of you" DO NOT BELIEVE HIM unless the cash is in your hand. I have come to associate that particular phrase with cheap guys who want to get as much of our time as possible for as little as possible. They either give you a little up front, like a twenty or something, to tease you on and then at the end give you next to nothing and act all surprised when you get mad. They'll often say something like, "Well, I gave you a twenty, didn't I?" or if you drink, "I bought you a drink, didn't I?" and look all smug and happy, like they got one over on the stripper. They'll also often try to keep you with them if you hint at needing to get up and work the room, often with the phrase, "Don't worry, I'll take care of you." Douchelords. God, I hate these guys.
A GOOD customer who tips for time will consistently give you money as you sit, not at the end of your time together, and these guys in my experience will often let you know that it's all right for you to go work the room if you need to as long as you still come back to him. Guys who tip well for your company respect the fact that your time is valuable and know how things work so they don't say anything about taking care of you, they just do it.
Of course this isn't always the case, I've taken risks and I'm sure everyone else has, too, and had it work out, but as a general rule I won't sit for more than fifteen minutes without getting something.
Sorry for the threadjack.
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
I've indeed got hundreds of 'rip off' stories. And even if you exercise the very best preventative measures, like carrying your own counterfeit bill check pen or getting the money up front in every possible situation, there's still no way to completely protect yourself.
Undoubtedly, bad economic conditions contribute to the likelihood of being ripped off. Ripoffs were practically non-existant in the 90's ... then a wave of ripoffs started in 2002-3 as the economy turned down. That wave subsided in 2004-7 but has now obviously risen to new heights. This was true on the customer side, but also tended to be true on the co-worker side. I guess it boils down to how bad somebody needs to keep / earn an extra $20 ( or whatever ) versus the risk of being caught / hassled.
And as Sadie points out, in most dancer rip-off situations the club is likely to give the customer every benefit of the doubt. This is somewhat understandable since, in many cases, it boils down to the word of the dancer against the word of a customer PLUS the club itself was not ripped off re THEIR portion of the customer's 'bill'.
Also, as was also the case during the 2002-3 downturn, the willingness of some dancers to provide 'higher mileage' as a private dance sales tool can and does lead to potential customer 'satisfaction' complaints when those customers don't receive the same amount of 'high mileage' from some dancers. Thus from a clubowner's standpoint they must recognize that a gray area could exist in regard to the dancer-customer transaction ( where in the worst case the dancer 'promised' to provide something in order to sell a private dance that they did not actually 'deliver' in the private dance area ).
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
I have gotten ripped off many times. One big time was when this dude did dance after dance after dance and few hours later, he didnt have the money when he said he did. He owed me like $800 in dances but only gave $200. I wasted hours on him and there was nothing the bouncer could do because he said he didnt have an ID or credit card on him (yeah right). Another time a guy did three dances with me and his credit card didnt go through so I didn't get the $75 and he knew that his credit card would get declined too and he sprinted out like an asshole. Last night I got ripped off out of $50 when a guy did 5 dances with me and he said he thought he only did two and then paid me for 3 dances in stead of 5.
Last week I finished doing 2 dances for a guy and didnt collect my 50 before the fire alarm ran off and everyone was required to quickly evacuate the building. I never saw him again (when everyone went back into the club) and I didnt get the 50 back.
I get ripped off all the time and I'm beginning to get used to it. :(
Money just comes in and out of the club so quickly.
Sorry that happened to you. You have to be more careful, is there any way to get the money upfront? Usually at my club when we do VIP or champagne rooms the customer is required to pay up front before the hour starts.
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
im glad in aus they pay in advance before the dance and extend later. it gives me the opportunity to walk out if theyre dickheads coz its already paid for.
the worst part what i hate is there is absolutely nothing you can do in some rip off cases. you wanna put a stilletto thru his head and make him eat concrete but yeah... cant...
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
I hate clubs like that!!!! I COLLECT MY MONEY before hand. Even though we are all a "family" at most clubs, we are all there to make money. If a waitress can easily profit off of you, why wouldn't she? As for the custies that stiffed u, I am so glad you chased those busted down losers!!!

No need for apologies, because it's totally true! I feel for this a few times as a newb, but not anymore. If they 'take care of you' then they do it right away, and that's that.

It's hard for me to believe there was ever a time when men wouldn't run off on their bills...essp. in the 90's. Actually, EVERYTHING I read about dancing in the 90's is hard to believe becasue it sounds so different compared to what it is now. Now it's a rat-race with every douche trying to push boundaries. Dancing in the 90's sounds like it was much classier.

This is why I'm glad that my club makes the guys pay out at the end of the room for sure. The waitress will bring the funny money and tell the guy "Okay so this is $175, please hand it to your dancer." And then after I put the money in my purse she closes him out. Also, if a guy gets dances and didn't bring enough cash and only realizes this after, a bouncer will walk him to the ATM inside the club. So it definitely minimizes the chances of being stiffed.
That's a dream set up for me! Our bouncers wouldn't waste time walking men to the ATM - the bouncers are there for the CLUB itself, not the girls. They won't do ANYTHING for a dancer without a really huge tip.
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
I had that happen once - but it was for one dance.
However I once took a CHECK for being in the CR for two hours. Oh my lord was I clueless back then! Of course it bounced and I had zero recourse.
Money up front - or at least part in between, like if I am doing a bunch of dances in a row as not to disrupt the "flow".
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
This all news to me (as I've never danced before), but I can't believe some of the stuff people try to get away with. Granted stripping my not be a traditional "product," but these guys have some nerve to to try to stiff you girls who are working hard for your money. Shameful.
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
How can these guys look at themselves in the mirror??? *hugs* 4ever. :(
I've had a couple guys rip me off at my peepshow. I usually yell at them something like: "Yup you're mama must be PROUD of you boy!!!" }:D
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
Aw! Thanks for the huggies! It's such an irritating thing, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who has to deal with it.
I'm completely over it now though. I make more in a year than these douches do in 2. I've decided my free dances were a charitable service. Haha!
Wonder if I can write that into my taxes somehow....?
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
I got ripped $240 recently, so this is nothing.

Well, the 90's definitely had it's share of douche bag club customers ... but in general they weren't present in upscale show clubs because management wouldn't tolerate it. The thing to keep in mind is that, prior to a 2000 federal court ruling that male businessmen entertaining customers in strip clubs constituted sex discrimination against female businesspersons ( which ended the previously existing business expense tax deduction for strip club entertainment expenses ), there were far more 'upstanding citizen' businessmen strip club customers. These 'upstanding businessmen' in general had far more respect for dancers, and far better financial ethics, than today's typical club customers do. I'm not sure whether the greater respect for dancers and higher financial ethics were a result of those businessmen being 'better people', or just as probably those businessmen fearing that a strip club related 'incident' would be bad for their business / personal reputation. In either case, today's strip club customers don't seem to have the same sort of worries ( reference the widely publicized $100k+ lawsuits between corporate execs and Scores over bogus credit card charges ).
Re: Heartbroken - they ran out on my bill!
A guy tried to run off without paying me, and a bouncer AND valet chased him down. In the end, they caught him three blocks later because a tow truck driver saw the chase and tackled the asshole. They gave him what was in the jerk's pockets ($27), and DRAGGED his ass all the way back. They threw him at my feet, made him get the money out of the ATM, and I left right as the last song was over.
They did all that for 60 fucking bucks.
That just makes me even more outraged when I read stories about clubs letting girls get ripped off.
