well...my parents came into my job
last night I was working at a dive that doesnt require a permit because my real club was closed for the day. anyway im dancing for a custie and I look over and see my parents. They yelled at my in front of everyone. My mom threatened kept asking for "her" car keys (which is in her name but I paid every single dime for) Now the whole family knows and they kicked me out of the house. Im so upset, I dont know what to do. I am not a druggie whore type stripper Im in college trying to pay for tuition. My family is very close minded this is why I didnt want to tell them. But the secrets out now so how should i handle it from here?

Re: well...my parents came into my job
That is horrible. Your parents must be absolutely insane to actually go inside with the possibility of seeing you naked. They aren't paying for your school. Move out, keep doing it, stay clean and they will get over it.

not exactly. I have money to rent a room, but thats it. They are threatning to take my car away (which I paid for but is in moms name >:() which will make it that much harder.

Re: well...my parents came into my job
Oh my god, I feel so bad for you! You poor thing! You can slug it out! Can you stay with one of your student friends? Or hop on craigslist asap. I found that when I wasn't hiding from my parents I could work more hours, do cam show stuff and therefore make more money. Maybe its a blessing in disguise. Good news is: from this point out, take control of your life. You obviously have nothing to be ashamed of from your job, its not illegal, and in a few years when you've finished school and have a "normal" life, they'll get over it. You just have to treat it like it's a decision that you made on your own as an adult that they must accept and that you accept the consequences of it (which aren't that bad anyway). If you act like an adult and not the child they kicked out, then they can't fault you. Sometimes we have to be as forcible with our parents as they are with us.

you may have a point. This may be a blessing. I havent talked to them in a couple of days but today I am going to talk to them. Im just going to stand firm in my decision and not allow myself to be intimidated

Re: well...my parents came into my job
Good for you!!! That would be a hard thing to deal with. My family has issues with my dancing as well. I've stood by my decision to keep dancing and am still dancing now. Use this job to your advantage and stand strong!!! Good Luck!!! :) p.s. keep us posted :)

Re: well...my parents came into my job
My dad stopped talking to me yesterday 'cause I told him I love being a stripper. He just doesn't understand that this makes me happy.

Re: well...my parents came into my job
*hugs* don't worry girl! You aren't doing any thing wrong by being responsible and paying for your tuition through stripping. You will get through it

Re: well...my parents came into my job

Re: well...my parents came into my job
i worked with a girl who was like just 18 or 19 her parents had the car in her name when they drove past the club and saw it in the clubs parking lot they reported it stolen.
Give up the car unless you want to follow their rules, i understand you paid for it but it isnt yours. it is in their name.
If you cant live under their rules/roof then start looking and asking friends if you can stay with them. hustle rides to work. look at bus schedules, or find a really close club near where you are staying for the lowest cab fare.
alot of girls make fast friend ships at clubs...is their anyone one that you worked with you can crash with?

Re: well...my parents came into my job
Let a little time go by to give them a chance to calm down. Then you can tell them that you just dance and that you aren't doing anything more extreme like prostitution, porn or drugs. My sister knew about my stripping from the beginning and when my dad figured it out he was not happy. But my sister told him ya it's true she is stripping but that's it. I think most parents are afraid that you will wind up in something more destructive and dangerous than stripping. Not to say that stripping is an easy life.
Remember - You are the one paying the bills which makes you the boss of your life.
If you have proof that you have made all payments on the car; maybe you can threaten to take them to court to be reimbursed, or have the title switched over to you.

Re: well...my parents came into my job
i guess you can sit them down and explain to them what is it you do and why and how much for and stuff like that if they would listen and see your side of the story, not just being naked on a dudes lap in public.
im terrified it will happen to me. i wanna tell my mum so bad. she wont get angry just dissapointed.
i reckon try talk some sense into them and if it doesnt help just move away for awhile till everything cools down

Re: well...my parents came into my job
If they don't want you to strip through college, they should either pay for your tuition and living expenses or get over how they are mad at you and accept that you dance.

Re: well...my parents came into my job
I know this can be heartbreaking. But You have nothing to be ashamed of!!! I'm a smart ass, so I would have asked my parents what they were doing in there since its so shameful. But seriously, they will come around.

Re: well...my parents came into my job
My opinion is slightly different then everyone elses... Dancing isnt as easy and glamorous as a lot of people think it is. Talk to your parents. They love you or they wouldnt have bothered coming in there. They obviously want what's best for you and want to protect you from things in life you may not be able to see yet.. If you do move out on your own, trust me once the bills start coming in your not going to have half as much time to do your homework, and in my 7 years of dancing..MOST dancers never make it through school because they get too caught up in the lifestyle and think the money lasts forever.. IT DOESNT.
Anyway whatever you decide... make amends with your parents. LIfe is short. You are an adult now and it is your life to live. Hopefully you will be able to make up with them and come to a compromise...Good luck

Re: well...my parents came into my job
Feed off of the strength of the independent ladies in this thread! Most of us have dealt with some opposition from our families at one point or another for this job (though you truly have undergone the most extreme form of this).
As long as you know that this job isn't changing you negatively, and you stay away from drugs/alcohol, it really can do good things for you. So you may consider severing all ties with your family (including the car, if the title is in your parents' names) at this point.
Keep doin' your thing girl.

^^^I was going to point out that if your parents are really that upset and they demand the car back that you should just go ahead and give it up since they can report it stolen.
A horrible thing to do... but parents, like everyone else, can make mistakes when they're upset.
Sorry to hear about your situation, and I hope it all works out for you.

Re: well...my parents came into my job
they must have had some suspicions that you were dancing because usually when people drive down the road they don't look at what cars are parked at a strip club. I know when I'm driving I look at the road in front of me and the cars around me.

Re: well...my parents came into my job
Good luck girlie. I had something similar happen to me.

Re: well...my parents came into my job
I hope things r/ your feeling a bit better now.

Re: well...my parents came into my job
I'll echo the same sentiments as the other ladies on here...sorry to hear about your crazy night. That's pretty crazy that'd they confront you like that....like they couldn't wait until you came out of the bar or something.
Wishing you the best!

Uhmmm yeah, why the $%^# were THEY there!?

Re: well...my parents came into my job
I had a similar story happen to me!
I told my mom that I was dancing once I turned 18 and she was cool with it; then ALL of a sudden her boyfriend starts to comment on it negatively so my mom starts to not like me doing it. One day while driving with her and my older brother in the car RANDOMLY she decides to tell my brother that I stripped! So my brother was furious, telling my mom not to let me use the car (that was in her name) anymore, blah blah blah and it was suppose to stop me from dancing. So my boyfriend started to take me to work including some of my stripper friends on some nights and got money to buy my OWN car! It was a decent car and I'm now on my second one (a nice sexy Mustang!). Honestly, if that NEVER happened I would have still been driving her car and I'm glad this kicked me in the butt to get my own and be independent! To this day they STILL don't know that I dance.
YOU CAN DO IT! KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE THAT'S IN CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE!
