And no, I wasn't dancing at the time. I was 17, but were still together 4 years later, and happy.
i met my boyfriend at college, his frat house was right next to my sorority house and i wasn't even planning on going out that night cuz i'm not all that big on partying... but i'm so glad i did :) i can't imagine my life without him now, he's helped me be everything i want to be and he'll do anything for me
I met my husband at Myspace.com
In france, wandering down the street with an immense hangover, bumped into a friend and was introduced to my now boyfriend. It happened very quickly, the next day I ran into just the bf and we went for a drink, then a ski date, then we took turns in getting so horrifically drunk together that nothing happened between us, then I made him a mountain picnic for his birthday complete with absinthe and firecrackers, and that night he said he wanted me to officially be his girlfriend. I think it was all rather perfect, and I'll be recreating the mountain picnic this year for his birthday/our anniversary :D :D
That is cute!
I met my bf through very open-minded activist friends. It helped him get used to the whole stripper thing because he had a couple friends who danced and were in succesful relationships. Also, buying him dinner and letting him order all the beer and appetizers he wanted. After that we've had zero issues with me dancing.;D
However, we're mostly friends now, just not in love anymore, but still together. And lately I've been meeting TONS of single guys through volunteer work and community events. I'm not interested in dating anyone right now, but I'm just saying, TONS of single guys. Many very open minded. I think I involve myself in a lot of progressive communities so dancing doesn't seem so taboo.
Lol, highschool. He was a grade older than me and had mutual friends. We became friends after grad then a few years later we got together.
I met Joe through the girlfriend of my ex's best friend Moe. After my ex and I broke up, this girl moved up to the area from Missouri to live with Moe. I'd stayed in touch with her from the few times my ex and I had hung out with them, and I felt kind of bad for her because she didn't know anyone in the area, and Moe was wicked sexist and controlling and didn't like her doing anything on her own.
We hung out a few times, then my really hot friend-with-benefits Jon and I decided to take her up to Saratoga to walk around, as she'd never been there. It was originally supposed to be just the three of us, but Moe didn't like the idea that Jon and I would be around her together, as he thought our relationship was immoral, and he thought I should still be celibate in case my ex wanted to get back together. Moe is from Egypt, so he is wicked conservative about a lot of that stuff. Anyways, as Moe thought Jon and I would seduce her or that our "immorality" would rub off on her, he decided to come with her to chaperone. Or whatever. And he brought his FLAMINGLY gay brother (whose sexuality Moe is completely in denial about) with him, and his friend Joe, who was on crutches from having broken his ankle a few months before.
Moe spent the entire time grilling me on why my ex and I broke up and all the problems we'd had in the relationship, and asking me why I never went to him for help. He kept trying to convince me to let him patch things up between me and my ex, and I kept trying to explain that I couldn't be less interested in getting back together with Noah. The entire night must have been extremely awkward for Jon, who didn't really know what to say. And I was getting frustrated, because I REALLY didn't want to spend the entire night rehashing two years of a miserable relationship.
So anyways, after we ate, we all walked around Saratoga, and I ended up walking next to Joe all night and talking with him, while Moe and his brother fought and Jon played with his new camera. Joe and I discovered that we had a lot in common, and it was really easy to talk to him. Then Moe's brother went and got a bottle of alcohol from a liquor store and downed it in about three minutes and got WASTED, which only made Moe freak out more, as he is Muslim and believes alcohol is evil. So, Moe said he had to leave, and Joe had to go with them as it was his ride. Afterwards, I told Jon that Joe was pretty hot, and Jon encouraged me to text Ashley and tell her to give Joe my number. So I did.
Later I discovered that Moe had spent the entire time in the car on the way UP to Saratoga trying to convince Joe to hit on me, and spent the entire time on the way BACK from Saratoga assuring Joe that I was a "sure thing." Joe called me the next day, and we hung out a few times. We had sex on the third date, then we started getting really serious, and we were in a monogamous, official relationship exactly one month after we met. And that was early last spring, and now we're engaged, with the wedding date set as October 27, 2011 :)
Oh, and as an update, Moe and Joe had this epic falling out over me, because when Moe realized Joe actually wanted to DATE me, he freaked out and kept telling Joe and all their mutual friends all this nasty stuff about me, how I was a whore and cheated all the time. And Ashley turned out to be this pretty epic drama queen and liar. But that's okay, because I wouldn't have met Joe if it wasn't for them.
My Ex and I met at Graham Central Station in Nashville, TN. She shot me in the face with a squirt gun by way of introduction. We dated exclusively for two years, then I was sent to Europe for three years and she met someone else and got married. We are still friends. She couldn't go to Europe with me because she was divorced with two grade school aged boys and custody issues.
I meet my pooky on www.plentyoffish.com. I was checking my profile and cleaning when my friend Silk pointed out the "Viewed me" section. "This one seems right up your alley" she said. I started chatting him up for about 2 months. I had a booking in a certain little shithole in North Dakota ::) which I left a week early to come see him.
As soon as he picked me up at the bus depot I jumped in his arms. We went back to his place and fucked like bunny rabbits. We went to Wildwood, NJ to the beach on August 28. In a shitty little boardwalk theater that was massively overpriced, he told me he loved me.
I left my friends, my family, everything back in Albuquerque to be with him...And I don't regret it.
3rd Grade.
Acting class. Ten years ago.
I've posted this before but it's worth re-telling.
I met my husband through friends at a party in London. I fancied him right away but we hardly got to talk at all that night. After that, I didn't see him again but he'd really made an impression.....
About 7 months later I spotted him from a distance in our village high street. He didn't see me so again I missed the chance to speak to him. By now I was head over heels for him but still hadn't met him properly.........
A week later I took a Sunday drive out to visit a girlfriend at her new house and took a wrong turn, ending up in wooded glade trying to turn around. Disaster. My car got horribly stuck in the mud and I just couldn't get it out.
Enter my 'Knight in Shining Armour'.....(guess who?). By a massive twist of fate, he was out walking his Sister's dog. He must have heard me revving my engine and spotted me spinning my wheels in the mud. So he came to my rescue with sticks and stones under my tires, and a good hefty push....(swoon...). I was very grateful, like...VERY grateful - and we ended up having a rather sweaty 'quickie' over the hood of my car.
We started dating - and we've been together ever since. It's our 22nd Wedding Anniversary 3 days before Christmas.:couple:
I was dancing on stage a t this one club I worked and and my husband walked in looking for a job, saw me on stage and told his friend "I;m going to marry her". That was twelve years ago. :heartbeat
There are some really cool stories in this tread...Still looking for my best friend.
I met hubby at my ex-boyfriend's birthday party in the middle of the woods.
We've been together ever since - going on 7 years now.
I met my boyfriend at my old job, in an Autotrader office. He was one of the supervisors.
We started sleeping together secretly (because of the supervisor thing) which was hot and exciting.
After we got laid off we kept seeing each other, but he didn't admit to having feelings for me until I went away for 7 weeks in the summer. I was at a language school where I wasn't supposed to be using English, so we didn't get to talk a lot and I guess after seeing how much he missed me he decided to tell me. We started dating the first week I was away and pretty much have been since.
I walked up the stairs to apply to dance at the strip club, and there he was at the top of the stairs =) (he was the manager)
a salad bar in barcelona!
I met him when I was 21. I was student and I worked for my local city council part time. He was my boss.
At Austin City Limits festival. I was with some girlfriends, and we got bored, and were pointing out and taking stalkerish pictures of hot guys. I had like 20 pics of this guy, and decided, fuck it, I'm going to ask him to be in one with me. He asked for one with me too, and for my number. The rest is history.
Oh, and no, I wasn't dancing at the time, and am not currently dancing. I keep planning to go back, but it just hasn't happened yet. It's been 1 1/2 ish years since I danced. I told him I might go back, eventually.
I met my amazing man through a friend of mine who also dances...she was hosting a charity event to raise money for the Cancer Society (dancers for cancer) and wanted someone to do a similar charity event with bands...I went with her to talk to her favorite event booker/promoter, and it was this gorgeous metalhead...She gave him my number, we went out, and within a week, I told my friends I'd be marrying him. We're getting married soon....
And the best bit? He was already friends with other dancers, and really closer with a couple of the bouncers and the DJ at my club, so he has the perfect attitude to my work. As far as hes concerned, its just a job. At the end of my day, I tell him funny stories from customers at the shop where I work during the day, and when I come home at 3am, he sets an alarm to get up and hang out for half an hour and hear funny stories from the club. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have a man who is so accepting of my work....who sends me encouraging texts at work, brought me my locker key to the club when I forgot it, and laughs with me about taking guys money...: )
I started talking to him on MSN Chat when I was 17.
He drove down to Phoenix from Vegas and I moved to Vegas with him.
We've been together ever since.
9 years in March. :)
