Bad work environment
Due to circumstances, I have to work in a club that has lots of extras, drugs, depressed women. I'm a "highly sensitive person" who just got out of a very trying relationship and I feel there is a lot of negative energy in this place and I'm very vulnerable to it right now.
Does anyone know how to combat these feelings at work?
Unfortunately, this is the only club around that has money and I have to be here for the next few months. I've worked here 4 times and find myself drinking a lot just to deal with the atmosphere. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Bad work environment
Is there any other work you can do? Camming? Phone sex? Retail? Food service? Customer service? It doesn't sound like that club is a very good place for you.

Re: Bad work environment
get ready at home, be in the dressing room as little as possible, just change into your outfit and out again at the end of the night, don't talk to the other dancers. make yourself as blissfully ignorant as possible. bury your head in the sand.
it's very hard to do. good luck.
try not to drink. you'll become one of them.
what area are you in?

^This. I've had girls trading pills in front of me before and not noticed until someone said something later. Just do not pay attention. Focus on yourself and your customers. Don't talk to or about other dancers.

Re: Bad work environment
I'm in a small college town in South Carolina. I've worked here before YEARS ago but it seems like the good looking, hustler orientated types have all flown the coop.
Girls making out, tongue and everything, to get guys to do CR. <yuck>
I like enviornments where majority of the women are taking care of themselves and out to get money, I like to compete and it helps me stay on my A game, you know?
Thanks for all the responses :)

There are still decent clubs in Columbia. How close are you? There's also Charleston too.

If I were you would stay sober so you can handle things as they come your way.
Agreed: ignore everyone. Get dressed at home. Don't talk about other girls.
