OK...so why was he arrested? 'Peep Shows' - or the modern equivalent - haven't been illegal here in the UK since the late 1960's.....are they illegal in the US? Or were they staking out an unlicensed premises perhaps?
Leave it to the American legal system -_- I hate this country
Knew someone this happened to. They sued on the grounds that for the time they rented the booth, it was their property and they had a right to privacy, very much like a hotel.
They won, but a few years later someone else tried the same thing, and lost.
When I first saw the partial headline at the top of the forum listing (most recent posts), it just said "Priest arrested..."
I immediately thought 'altar boy again'. :D
Sounds to me as though it could possibly have been a crackdown on gays meeting new partners in the place, as opposed to a guy just whacking off. The implication of the nod being 'Come on in, I want you to'. No way a straight guy trying to whack off to some porn in peace is going to invite a passing stranger into his booth.
But who knows how it really went down? Plus what's the harm in gays meeting somewhere to watch porn and whatever--unless the owner doesn't want it in his shop, in which case it's a different story.
But you read about the cops busting gay strangers fucking each other in secluded parking areas, etc., all the time. Ruining their lives in the process, naturally. Personally, I'd rather they reopened unsolved murder cases, anything, something more valuable, less vindictive and homophobic.
Just cause it happens doesn't make it not a crime. Masturbating in a private booth is illegal even if 99% of the people who use them do it. The same way nobody ever comes to a complete stop at a stop sign unless a cop is watching, just because nobody ever does it doesn't mean you are not in trouble if you get caught.
Exactly, a stop sign is a stop sign, we KNOW not stopping is illlegal. But i thought peep-shows were legal. And I thought because it was a rented private booth completely seperated from the dancer/model masturbating during one was legal. But US sex laws freak Me out sooo.
Also side note, did you know there is a city in the states where on the books it's actually illegal to have sex while intoxicated? It was in one of those "Crazy but True Law Books".
People,
Its not the peep show he is being arrested for. It is lewd conduct or solicitation.
An undercover officer approached and exchanged a nod with him, followed by the locked door being opened for the undercover officer.
One officer involved in the sting said at that point "he whipped his junk out" and started masturbating for the undercover officer.
The article never mentions the sex of the undercover officers. They could have been females or males. I do think that the context suggests better that the officers were men. But, who knows?
*blushes* I actually never even read the article itself just kinda ran with it, hahaha.
There are actually a couple things illegal about this...one is the fact that he was doing this in front of the cop (oops), but other than that, although peep shows are legal, in most states, masturbating isn't, for either party - even the girls are not allowed to masturbate (with toys)!! Stupid, I know, but thats how its supposed to be...which is why a lot of places have the sign "If you don't see skin on skin, don't stick nothing in!" (If the custy has whipped it out, hes NOT an undercover cop!) LOL!
wonder if he was tapping his toe like Larry Craig? :D
