'The Day The Music Died.....' John Lennon - RIP
It was 30 years ago today, that one of the finest musicians and songwriters that ever lived - died in a New York Hospital, after being shot by a maniac fan with a gun. He was irreplacable and we were robbed of beautiful, beautiful music.
There's no room for hatred in this World....."All You Need Is Love"
John Lennon. We Love You!
Re: 'The Day The Music Died.....' John Lennon - RIP
My parents weren't fans so I had no idea who he was, but I knew who the Beatles were. I remember asking my mom who he was and she said something like "he's a rock star" then that was it. As I've gotten older I've become a fan and own all their CDs and two of their movies on DVD (A Hard Days Night and Help!). I really wish my parents had been fans and I don't get why they loathed them, especially since they liked other bands and other British bands (my dad is British to boot). My mother especially though she's admitted as of late she likes some of their songs.
True story but when I was very young I thought the Beatles ripped off the Monkees! I laugh about it now but for the longest time I thought they were the same group and when I found out they weren't, I would tell people that the Monkees influenced the Beatles.

Is American pie written about John Lennon? That's the song btw, not the movie.... Because 'the day the music died' is one of the main lyrics, and I have no idea what it's in reference to...

That song is in reference to the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and The Big Bopper (Jiles Perry "J. P." Richardson, Jr.) in 1959.
The same sentiment easily applies to the day John Lennon was gunned down though. That was indeed a sad day.
