ct and ma clubs: floorwork
I am still new to dancing and so far I havent made any real money :'(... I have tried a few different clubs in ct and ma, but they just dont seem to be the right club for me.... a lot of the girls at most clubs do a lot of floor work... some girls dont even use the pole through the entire night.... are there any clubs in the area that dont have a customer expectation of excessive floor work? I think a club with minimum floor work would be better suited for me, I just cant seem to find one... help plz!!!!:worried:

If I got used to it, you definitely can!
Yeah, if you want to get tipped on stage, you have to do a little bit of floor work to interact with the customers. Guys will expect you to do a couple of moves in front of them in exchange for tips.
But I don't see anything wrong with doing mostly pole work and then doing a bit of floorwork just to get your tips. If you work in a club where the other girls don't even touch the pole, it could help you stand out! Be a trail-blazer. ;)
Re: ct and ma clubs: floorwork
^I think that's the case in most clubs. Customers would generally rather have you up close rather than hanging off a pole far away from them.
May I ask what you don't like about floorwork?
Re: ct and ma clubs: floorwork
Just do both...floorwork is really easy to learn and you can actually learn some really fun and sexy floor work that can amaze the customers and get good tips, especially if you are flexible!...just look up floorwork on youtube and practice at home!
Re: ct and ma clubs: floorwork
Hey ladies thanks for all the replies.... rhode island is a little farther than I would like to travel but who knows I might just check it out.... The floor work in general I dont know what specifics about it I dont like, I just dont like getting down and I never know any moves and im not flexible.... its just been a nuisance for me
Re: ct and ma clubs: floorwork
I'm not very flexible either, don't worry girl. Do you do yoga? I find a lot of those moves can be sexified into stripper floorwork, and they're easy to do nice and slow to take up lots of time. There's lots of great floorwork videos on YouTube too. It's just a matter of figuring out what your style is. :)
Re: ct and ma clubs: floorwork
wow that was a really great idea I never even thought of trying yoga moves... thanks for the tip!!!
Re: ct and ma clubs: floorwork
No problem! I find lots of stretches are great too, especially with your legs to draw attention to them.
Re: ct and ma clubs: floorwork
I started a new club that has lots of floorwork- my knees, and wrists, and everything..owwww! How the hell do you do good/lots of floorwork and NOT kill your knees? I tried knee pads tonight, those didn't work so well. Next thing I'm trying is leg warmers to pad em up a bit. I see girls without boots or warmers or anything though doing floorwork on their knees, how? And then I hear all these stories of other dancers having to get fluid taken out with needles at the hospital cuz their knees are so bad. Ugh. :(
Re: ct and ma clubs: floorwork
i do private parties which can involve a lot of floor work... basically you learn to be gentler and more graceful with your body and how you move and the bruises become less and less... if my legs are really beat up from the night before i will wear thigh high boots or legwarmers to add a little extra padding like you said.
i hear a lot about arnica for getting rid of bruises on this thread, but idk where it is or where to get it :/
Re: ct and ma clubs: floorwork
I like to wear socks that go over the knee, generally pretty high up my thigh, because they really make a world of difference in comfort, and also help slide more easily on the floor. I still have bruises, but at least I don't feel them. I think it's something that your body gets used to after a while, and also a matter of learning how to avoid being directly on your knees as much as possible.
Re: ct and ma clubs: floorwork
^What are these socks that go over the knees and where do I find them lol? Ive never seen those! And definitely have to figure out how to avoid being directly on my knees, I tried but I dont know where else to put the pressure aghh

I've found them for cheaper at girlie type stores that sell lots of accessories (like Ardenes in Canada) though!
Re: ct and ma clubs: floorwork
I used to feel sooo self conscious and awkward doing floor work. Then i hit a day where my feet were telling me to f*ck off and I thought to myself..."let me see how much I can stay off my feet tonight." And from there on in it got easier and easier.
Either way pole or floor you will get banged up until you learn the right way to do it for your body. Just think soft and sensual at first and leave all that hard and fast for when you get better. Hard and fast it's easier to hurt yourself.
I used to naturally dance faster. Now I can't MAKE myself speed up. What for? The tipping was the same either way.
I once had a seasoned dancer tell me to slow down so the guys can see what they're looking at. Then I got it.
But I know some girls will say their niche is fast. Basically do what comes to you. Be yourself. If not channel someone else you admire. Actress or other dancer.
But I recommend slow first. Walk before you fly.;)
