Jobs Not Related to the Adult Entertaintment Industry, anyone?
It seems all jobs listed in here are related to the adult entertainment industry.
I'd like to know about people who have different jobs.
I mean, I'm a computer technician (most of my costumers are other strippers), a journey man electrician (I work with nuclear reactors), and I'm in the naval reserve (actually, I got my stage name in the military).
I only do stripping for very few hours on the weekdays, and that's why for me $250 is good money; I don't work more than two or three hours on a weekday. On a weekend, $745-$934 is good money, however, unless I'm on base, and if that's the case, I will host a private party on base (the money depends if it's a payday weekend).
Why I dance for such a short period of time? Dancing is my main source of work out, and keeps my stress level low, but I don't see myself doing this full time for the rest of my life; I'm ok with stripping for life, but not for more than 18-20 hours a week. I really love dancing, I love the attention, and I'm such a teaser, but I feel if I do stripping full time, I'd be wasting my skills in other areas.
I'd like to know other women who think in a similar way; that are using stripping as a back up financial solution, and/or have back up plans besides stripping, like resuming college or things like that.

You're not the only person on this forum who works in another field.
That's why you get called on your crap so often, most of the stuff you post doesn't make any sense to anyone who knows better.
But keep posting journey man, I like the lulz.

Re: Jobs Not Related to the Adult Entertaintment Industry, anyone?
I plan on doing webcam for another 2-5 years, but after that I'd like to either go to nursing school and become an RN, or save up money and start my own (non-adult) business.
Sometimes I do get the sense that I am "wasting my skills". I don't really make any kind of positive impact on the world, all I do is just look hot so guys can shoot their loads. But then again, I'm supporting my family and making 3x what I made at my last "real" job so it's all good. If I had made better decisions in the past I would have a BA by now and probably wouldn't be camming (maybe... although a BA doesn't necessarily guarantee a good job so for all I know, I might be in the exact same position only with thousands of dollars more in student loan debt)..
I doubt very many strippers, camgirls, porn stars or others who work in the adult industry plan on doing it indefinitely.

"It seems all jobs listed in here are related to the adult entertainment industry."
well, we are not computer technicians, and this is primarily an sex industry forum.
This thread could be potentially condescending tot he ones who ARE going to do it for the rest of there life.
Thats like me coming in here starting a thread a bout what i did in a law firm today.... every body is gonna look at me like ---> 0.o . its a time and place for everything. theres other forums for vanilla people =)

Re: Jobs Not Related to the Adult Entertaintment Industry, anyone?
I doubt all the girls here ONLY work adult industry jobs, and ONLY plan on staying in the adult industry, and if some women here would like to do this forever, then so be it. I have a vanilla job outside of my adult work, have been to school in the past and plan on furthering my education. I also think it could be a little condescending to the ones who plan on always doing this.
Like CW said, this is an adult forum, hence we mainly post about adult related topics. Op you should do a google search of other forums. There are 2 other forums that I am on, that are solely for vanilla type work.
I would not be on a vanilla forum, in a computer programmers thread, asking why nobody is considering being a stripper, escort, cam girl, or phone sex op. Everyone would probably shut me down in 1 minute or less, and run me off the board.

You're such a troll, you knew that, right?
Explain me (in a PM preferably) why it doesn't make sense. It does make sense to me.

Re: Jobs Not Related to the Adult Entertaintment Industry, anyone?
Hehe before the bomb blows , and everyones ripping on everyone.
Its because this is a stripper websites .
Most strippers come to the "other work" thread when there ready to leave that.
Strippers are use to making tons of cash fast and easy , and that is what cam is .
Most strippers have hot bods, thats where porn and nude modeling comes in.
Im sure other people on the thread have other jobs , but not as exciting as adult work.
And lastly , there is no other thread like this for fellow adultworkers to speak among each other, and the help means the world to us.
Be kind to each other =P

Re: Jobs Not Related to the Adult Entertaintment Industry, anyone?
Another thing...I tried to post about being a cam model on another, non adult related forum, and was called a stupid whore, a low life, stupid, childish for being a cam girl, and all sorts of things. Then they started a new thread asking "Why do whores feel the need to be respected when they don't even respect themselves?"
All this because a girl asked how do you take pictures alone. I responded how I take pics for a websites, and someone responded "Are you one of those cam models?" I said yes, and basically was treated like crap.
So naturally we all need this forum to talk about our adult related work. "Civilized society" does not welcome us, and thinks that we are not worth talking too. :)

Re: Jobs Not Related to the Adult Entertaintment Industry, anyone?
I think I've actually gotten to a point where the outside world kind of scares me these days. Yes I have a vanilla job but I don't talk about it much here. Why? Because it pretty much sends me off into a blind rage. I hate my job and I think I part of me hates the people I work with. I have ALWAYS been more comfortable with the adult industry and I come here to be around people that completey accept that about me. I don't know about anyone else but I find it hard to find my footing in the vanilla world but I totally rock the seedy sexy underbelly lol ;D
So yeah I would really rather just hide on SW these days, who CARES about my vanilla job *eyeroll*

Sorry to hear about the way you were treated Busty. It is ironic how afraid people get about things (IE camming) they don't understand. Human nature is really to blame, just look at how many times has it messed things up for people..... And I bet you know more about business than 99% of people on that board...
If you look at what the education of camming has taught all of you, I am sure you would be amazed. I know I am. Still being new at this, there is so much I have learned from this board. Camming really encompasses all the aspects of entrepreneurship; marketing, sales, accounting, and business planning. Understanding and mastery of all of these aspects needs to be happen in order to succeed at this, or any other business.
If you are making a living from this, then you have something to be extremely proud of, for it is an accomplishment, no matter what anybody says. The "sex industry" has always been sort of a side work for myself which includes, escort, camming (for 1 week), except when I managed a club which was a great experience. I consider my boss during that period, the directer of entertainment, one of my greatest mentors in life. What he taught me, and what the girls I worked with taught me, I have used accross the vanilla world to great success. There is always a way to cross utilize what you know. So really I think whatever is learned, is a gain in both knowlege and wisdom, no matter where you get it from.
So I do have a vanilla job, and am doing quite well. But I still learn from every post I read, and try to apply that to my own "camming business". I really believe this industry will only continue to grow in both popularity and money.
This whole thread was started about what people do outside of the industry, and it sounds pretty innocent enough. I don't know why some of you got so worked up about it. This is a "sex industry forum" and it was a sex industry question I thought. What do you do besides this? I think the post itself was a bit self rightous, but aren't we all sometimes?????

Re: Jobs Not Related to the Adult Entertaintment Industry, anyone?
well i code websites (you know, html, java, php, ftp, etc) in my spare time by craigslist and i'm also an electrician in my spare time ( i do jobs every weekend through my union so i wouldn't call it a job honestly), and i'm also a student majoring in engineering. I don't plan on staying in the adult field though... it's just easy money to use for rooming! :)

I'm on the same boat when it comes to my regular job. I'm so happy next week will be having a semi vacation and the next week after that semi vacation from my vanilla job. I would rather cam only wish it was always more stable for me always for me have to depend on vanilla job just in case deal with the slow times of cam and that can happen any given day/time doing it.

Re: Jobs Not Related to the Adult Entertaintment Industry, anyone?
I do find your posts a bit condenscending but I think it's awesome that this work (dancing) is something you do for fun and not for income. I'm sure it's much more enjoyable for you not having to rely on dancing to live. Having said all that, This is a stripper forum not a forum for software engineers and just because it's a stripper forum doesn't mean that all the ladies here dance full time. Alot of them have non adult related jobs they do and dancing is just an icing on the cake. You're not better than anyone here Jay. I have read your past posts. You seem to have multiple issues with yourself and others.

Amberluv, thanks. I really needed a good laugh :)

Re: Jobs Not Related to the Adult Entertaintment Industry, anyone?
I'm studying to be a secondary school History teacher. I dance because it's easy to schedule around my classes, it's excellent money, it keeps me in good shape, and, most importantly, I LIKE IT.
I agree that your post comes off very condescending and judgmental. This is a thread for strippers and other sex-workers. It's where we can chat and exchange ideas and techniques and, most importantly, support each other. Your post doesn't sound all that supportive.

Re: Jobs Not Related to the Adult Entertaintment Industry, anyone?
I was a stripper for 7 years. (Quit back in October 2010). Was one of those rare strippers who actually got WORSE the longer I did it. LOL
So now, I'm a full time Mommy and wife.
I like to think of myself as a maid, chef, therapist, doctor, seamstress, among other things...lol, so to me, it's the most rewarding thing in the world.
Screw an actual paycheck. :P
Leave that to the hubby...LOL
(well, unless you wanna count the hour a day I log on cam and make my $60 a week..lol, but that's just extra cash.) :P

Jay, this really sounds off. I spent four years active duty in the military. You say you strip from October to May and fulfill your military obligations during the months in between? This makes no sense. You can't live on base and not work for half the year, that just doesn't happen.
Also, private parties on base??? HIGHLY doubt it. If you're in the military (even the reserve) you can get in a lot of trouble for working as a dancer so I know for sure that if you were hosting private parties on base you would get found out by higher ups and in a lot of trouble along with people attending those parties. Even if you were in the reserve and managed to not get caught stripping you can't live on base.....
You have given plenty of reasons for me to believe you are an outright liar. I absolutely cannot stand people who lie about being service members, it is pathetic and completely disrespectful to true veterans such as myself who did a lot to wear that uniform with honor. I put in my time and did a lot of things that weren't fun including a tour in a combat zone and I don't drag the title around like its 'just another job.' Have some respect.

Re: Jobs Not Related to the Adult Entertaintment Industry, anyone?
I smell a pathetic military spouse on this forum.... is your husband a sailor and you just add his job on to your list of specialties? This is sadly what a lot of military spouses do; sit at home all damn day on the internet making up fantasy lives, and if they're not doing that they're talking shit about other spouses. If you're not a spouse, you're still pathetic.
