After baby body advice/suggestions?
I'm 8 months pregnant right now and just want to get a game plan going on how I'm going to get back into shape. Does anyone have any suggestions besides eating healthy and working out once the Dr okays it? I also plan on breastfeeding. I'm more worried about getting my tummy back into pre-baby shape than my boobs, those are doomed lol
This is baby #2 for me and while I bounced right back from #1 that was oh.. 7 years ago and I don't want to just hope for the best lol
Does anyone have any suggestions for fending off the "pouch"? I've had friends suggest waist cinchers and although I'm sure that'd help with the actual size of my waist I'm more worried about the skin..
Also until I'm able to go back to dancing I'll be on a pretty tight budget. So I can't afford anything involving lasers :-\
Re: After baby body advice/suggestions?
You probably know this already - but moisturise your tummy every day to help keep the skin supple.
I don't really have any miracle cures as it took me 10months + to lose my baby weight and my tummy still isn't as tight as I would like. Just came down to hard work and not drinking in my case!
Re: After baby body advice/suggestions?
the nurses offered me those compression belt things at the hospital. i didn't take it, and i think i should have. i have a couple friends that used them and it really helped speed up their tummy flattening. look into those, it can't hurt you and it might really help.
working out and eating healthy is the only thing that will truly help in the long run, though. for the first few weeks/months (depending how your recovery is), just try to get as much sleep as you can, eat when you can (healthy foods), and take the baby on long walks.

I'm 3 months pp and I suggest breastfeeding the hell out of your baby lol. my weight fell off in 3 weeks---i only gained 33 and the baby was 9lbs though... DO invest in the belly band/cincher thing. I wish I wore my longer, I had to work harder to get my stomach flab to tighten up. It wasn't too bad... took me about 2--3 weeks. And I took her on lots of walks starting at 5 weeks pp. Good luck!
Re: After baby body advice/suggestions?
I'm also 8 months pregnant with my second and I plan on getting the Belly Bandit since I've heard so many good things about it. I'll wear that everyday all day, and I'm nursing as well, so we'll see how it goes. With my first child I didn't use a waist cincher, just nursed, and I barely used stretch mark cream. It took me about a year for my stomach to get to it's best and I still had a little loose skin but you couldn't really tell. My ab muscles did separate also. I didn't diet or exercise, just pole danced atleast 3-4 x's a week.
Hopefully this time around I bounce right back! I'm taking extra precautions this time since I don't have money for the laser tightening procedure either! Good luck!
Re: After baby body advice/suggestions?
I breast fed for two years, that seemed to really help with the weight loss. Also, I worked out through the pregnancy. I took about 4 weeks off from the gym after she was born, then started back with the workouts. Even when I was not going to the gym, I'd take my baby and put her in her stroller and go for long walks, like 2+ miles.

Re: After baby body advice/suggestions?
Belly band thing helps a lot, also lots of moisturizers and water, getting up and active as soon as your doctor says it's okay. Breastfeeding helps the pounds drop off faster but I had the issue with leaking so I was literally in the bathroom between sets expressing milk.
Plan your post baby diet now and try to stock your house with healthy things so you don't even have to literally think about what to eat after your little one arrives. You can even make and freeze a few dishes (try a recipe site like allrecipes.com for some good healthy ones) before your due date.
It can be done - I promise you!
Congrats BTW!!
Re: After baby body advice/suggestions?
I'm getting a Belly Bandit, I've heard rave reviews on the thing, so here's hoping! I'll let you know how it goes. I'm 9 months now. I thought she'd be out by now, but she's being pretty stubborn. lol

LOL good luck to you on your delivery mama whenever you have her :)
Re: After baby body advice/suggestions?
Laser-Tightening? Can anyone advise what this is? x
Sounds good - I have that mummy-tummy , covered in Stretchmarks thing even though I'm slim everywhere else. I've got 2 children but I did have a tendency to get HUGE just by eating normally, not too much, and also I didn't use any cream either.
I'm sure you ladies will be fine. (-: Good luck with the deliveries
Re: After baby body advice/suggestions?
Thanks everyone for the advice! I'm not worried about losing the weight as much as I am about the loose skin on the tummy afterwards, so far I've gained 27 lbs and with my first I had gained 38 lbs total and lost all 38 plus a couple more before even leaving the hospital. I've been practically bathing in lotion and drinking tons of water to help fend off any stretch marks, so far it's going good. I will definitely look into that belly band, it took a few years for my skin to tighten back up to normal last time and I just felt so self-conscience about it, I don't want to have to go through that while dancing again.
Also, to those of you that've returned to work while still breastfeeding.. I know that once you have a set feeding routine you have a bit more control over leakage, but are there any tricks you use while at work on the off chance that you might leak? Pretty sure I can't pass nursing pads off as pasties ;D
And if it's anything like last time I'll have an over abundance of milk, I was able to pump out up to 18 oz after a full feeding so leaking was a constant problem for me before. Didn't help that I had also had my nipples pierced back then either, had some hilarious misadventures in breastfeeding thanks to that haha
Seriously though, thank you for all the advice ;D
Re: After baby body advice/suggestions?
A few years to make the loose skin taut again? What did you do to make it go back, and did it eventually go back to what it was before?
Re: After baby body advice/suggestions?
My body shape changed permanently as a result of getting pregnant (age 19) was blessed to have no stretch marks, but now I have an "outie" ish bellybutton ... I used to have a solid "innie" ... weird huh? The muscles almost like, split down the middle of my stomach ...
Breastfeed!!! Yay! It's really good for both of you, I was skinny again in like, a week, because I breastfed. Your baby will suck the calories out of you. Boobs? Mine don't look like they used to :( BUT they look nicer now that I started working the muscles underneath ... pushups, climbing, etc and they're not that bad. Still "perkyish" lol. Just remember to be NICE to them, I had to pump and that might have fucked them up ... I should have been nicer to my boobies (supportive bras, not pumping when in a rush)
Good luck!
Re: After baby body advice/suggestions?
P.S. I used vitamin E oil every day religously everywhere (except my boobs - always busybusy and they were harder to get it onto without a mess) guess where my stretch marks are?
Yes, my boobs. Maybe a correllation? Lol

I didn't really do anything, back then I had no idea there were things you could do to help. It did eventually go back to the way it was before, I think part of that had something to do with lack of stretch marks though.. Plus just being young and active.
I don't want to leave it up to fate this time around though lol
