I have a 12 Gb Alien wear gaming built computer
And my feed sucks.
It means nothing if the internet isnt good , and your cam sucks hehe.
More can never hurt though right.
I say just buy the best you can afford. I run a 2.0 processor with 4gb ram and 512 graphics. It struggles with split cam but is fine one site only. My internet is excellent.
Ok, hubby says "If the computer can run the webcam according to the minimum statistics on the package for the cam, you should be fine, and for ram even 512m is usually fine. So 2g is great."
He went on to say that it isn't your quoted internet speed that is important, but your "upload speed in real time" as quoted from and THAT is the real deal.
The faster that UPLOAD speed is, the better, because your camera doesn't rely on download much if at all. 256kbits is slow and should be good for probably ONE cam stream...512k should do two camstreams OK or ONE HD cam stream, 1mbit and above is desirable for camming and anything above 2mbits will rock and allow usage of several multicams, or 2 HD streams.
So, there ya go...

^^ I recently doubled my upload speed from around 500k to about 1MB. It makes SUCH a huge difference and I can finally use Streamate's HD encoder. I'm no longer getting complaints about my cam being choppy or bad quality. It only cost an extra $10 a month too so it's definitely worth it.
Yeah - in the UK the best provider for high upload speeds is BE broadband (as recommended by AW) - it changed my camming sooo much and is cheaper than BT.
=[[ My internet company is complete shit
I live in the country so we have limited options.
We are suppose to have 500 , but it literally stays at around 200
Witch is so pissy , when we call them , and ask them they says its our computers.
Witch i know its not because im a abbot gamer.
I thinking of upgrading, A extra 20 , to 90 a month for the 1000
But the last time we upgraded , It still stayed at 200 =[
My feed is awful.
i work on a netbook (now you know who i am :P) which had 1 gb of ram until recent and now it has 2 gb of ram. the sites i was on everything worked fine with the netboook, but now that im looking at bigger sites, i dont think this will cut it. it all depends on the chat software.
It could be your computer's settings, Buffy. If you google "increase my internet upload speed" you will get a lot of results that you can try.. you basically want to increase your upload speed.. your download speed is probably stellar- but your upload speed sucks.. ask your provider what your cap is on your upload speed. It should be 128kbps at least. But your computer's ability to receive that number is another thing. Basically though- just google, and maybe try youtube to find a patch for your pc. I'm guessing you aren't using windows 7.. make sure when you do buy your new computer that it has windows 7, because it has a feature that will automatically optimize your upload/download speeds. There are a lot of different options- you just have to find which is the best option for you.
Yes , My computers a brand new windows 7 with 10Gb Harddrive , And 1000 Ram.
Top of the line , Its juts my internet..
Im calling my company today and seeing why their crapping me out of the speed im paying for.
