Re: Write Some Tips For Beginner Cam Girls and Get $15 Reward!
Tip for someone considering independent and going with a site:
Independent = The little stall at the side of the road. You get near 100% of nearly nothing but you can keep your pride because your independent.
Going with the site = Youve got a whole section in a massive retail park. Your overheads go up and your margin goes down but the pie is massive.
Maybe go with best of both worlds but in reality independence cant win.
This is business, dont make it personal.
Embrace the machine, use the system to your advantage, dont fight it. You cannot win.

This is the way it is at the beginning when you just started your own independent web site. Models should definitely partner with cam sites while growing their own web site

I don't agree. Independent can win if you put enough effort into it and don't give up. Growing your own web site turns it into business asset were you can generate revenue in multiple ways. Cam sites can be shut down or they can suspend your account for no reason but your site is totally under your control.

Dont agree with this or anyone who says Indy can win. Your being bias towards indy by saying if you put more enough in and dont give up yet if you put more effort in mainstream and dont give up your earnings will be higher, example below:
This example is based on cars to make it easy to understand:
Sports Car (Mainstream) and an ordinary car (indy) have a drag race. I say the sports car will win but in your terms giving extra effort, lets say NOS to the ordinary car will make it win, while this is true if you were fair and give both the cars NOS then the sports car will always win.
Bottom line, indy cannot win.
Another thing to remember is the small margin differences in indy and mainstream nowadays. AW is able to pay 73%~ in total and indy with all its costs of payment processing, upkeep and your time invested would pay about the same or maybe slightly higher?
PS: For reference for all reading, my top post says have the best of both worlds so have indy too but dont be fooled about it.
Edit: Forgot to say. The chances of a major camming site going down is probably less than the chances of your own site having a hick up or something going wrong with payments etc. All the admin work is taken care of for you by the site.

Re: Write Some Tips For Beginner Cam Girls and Get $15 Reward!
I think it really just depends on what you define "winning" as.
Me, I believe you can be a successful, happy, independent cammer free of mainstream sites. I believe you'd be MUCH HAPPIER as an indy cammer because you deal primarily in regulars who you know. When you take a new customer, you don't have to take a possible 3 minute bullshit show. It's 30 minutes or bust, asshole.
I would rather make 100$ indy a day, than make 100$ on streamate. That indy money stressed me out WAY LESS. Even AW. Sometimes I get to where I want to cut the next asshole who asks me to stand up and twirl!
I'm working towards being mostly independent because to me, that is winning. That is optimum for me.
I could have a sportscar, but I want a toyota camry. I would be much happier in it. That to me, is winning.

Re: Write Some Tips For Beginner Cam Girls and Get $15 Reward!
My winning meant the business sense, money and profit :)

Re: Write Some Tips For Beginner Cam Girls and Get $15 Reward!
Hahahah! Well I think everyone knows you can make like a zillion dollars on MFC!
I don't think ANYONE thinks indy will beat that with just straight numbers!

In my experience this is all very true.
I will still likely do some indy but putting the same effort into a major site where the traffic is high always always nets me more money. I really hate to admit it and I wish it were different, but wishing doesn't pay my bills.

Good analogy. The only problem here is that you won't be able to put NOS on a sports car. You are limited to what manufacturer has provided for it. Yes, it has some great feature out of box that ordinary car doesn't have but you can't modify any part of this car or add something new to it without negotiating this to the manufacturer and making him to add it (which won't happen in most cases)
But with the ordinary car you can do whatever you want. Put NOS, convert it into airplane, etc. If you know what will make it win you can put it and win!

Well, many major cam sites pay only 35-40% to their models so in this case it's significant difference. When you go indy route, your cost can be only 7% for payment processor, $12/year for domain name and $8/month for hosting which will allow you to keep up to 93% of your profit.

Agree on this. Especially at the beginning of indy career.

Ok, but what about when cam site simply kicks you off? I have a friend cam model, she was making around $30K a year on one of the major cam sites. Then suddenly she got kicked off for no reason (well she accidentally made a little mistake) and lost all her fans and all the revenue she depended on.
The point is you can be fired from the cam site as it could happen with any real job. And then what? You are left with nothing. But on the other side, if you run your indy site and it brings you some revenue (even if it's less than what you make on cam site) no body can kick you off. All the fans around your own site are yours forever.

But look at this long term. Let's say you make $100 a day on mainstream site and $30 a day on your own indy site. In addition your indy site can bring additional income from the affiliate links (i.e. passive income while you sleep). In 2-3 years your indy site will become much bigger source of revenue with small community of fans around it and you will end up having the working profitable business that you own. Even if you decide to change your career in the future you can sell this business. And most profitable businesses sell for 3x of annual revenue which could be hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Definitely an endless debate. However, I wanted to weigh in here.
As a promoter, and someone whose sole job it was to bring advertise and bring traffic and raise awareness of products/models/websites/etc. I think the oversimplifications are more harm than good.
Firstly, we need to define terms here. By Indy, how far does that go? Are "Indy Sites" that exist considered "being indy"? Or does it only apply to your OWN website?
Either way:
It would be EXTREMELY hard to start our Indy and work your way up always being indy. So it is correct that a combo of the two is necessary.
HOWEVER, it is my STRONG opinion that EVERY camgirl who wishes to do this as more than just "side money" or a "hobby" should be following a plan that includes starting out at like 75% Camsite and 25% Indy, and moving as quickly as time and popularity allow to 75% Indy and 25% Camsite, with camsites being JUST to drum up business for your indy venture.
AW aside (nothing but good to say about AW here), I strongly disagree that camsites and indy have nearly the same margins. The next nearest in payout is MFC, and as stated before 50%-63% is the MFC margin, with a median 56.5% and that is the ONLY large camsite that pays even close to that. (No, Skinvideo does NOT count yet...they need to improve several things and bring in traffic)...most "Indy sites pay 70%-80% beating out even AW, who, let's face it pays 65% for MOST women who work there, and for MANY pays 59%. The only time AW pays much more is when you are Indy-Camming.
In the end, the entire cam business structure can support full indy (75%+ of income) with MUCH better pay and no loss of customer base within 1 year to 18 months of starting. How do I know this? I have done it for quite a fewl women...But what is needed to make this road MUCH easier is several tools to improve the track and the promotions and so on. Those will be available within the month if all goes well.
I am also not sure that this is a fair discussion, since PJ, while I adore you, you DO have a dog in this race...It is NOT beneficial to you for women to go Indy, and with your business being daily pay, you must admit that women being on those big sites you pay daily for directly benefits your pocketbook. Just as once I have an "indy site" up and running, it will lower my viability to comment on this subject (at least till we open the Big Camsite)...In fact my motives have already been called into question on the Streamate Pay Debate, because I plan to open a site. So no direspect intended, just a person who has a strategy when I promote a girl to leave her with a fully indy site which pays all her bills VERY nicely, and who has done that several times over. That is why I so strongly feel I know what tools are needed to make this happen.

Id normally say this is true but I do help all members of any site as best I can in or out of the service (even indy). I get alot of tickets/emails from people not in dailypay and help them as much as I help my own clients. The service was set up to help performers not to profit off them. We only make somewhere around 1-3p max from every £1 after costs and taxman so it wasnt really designed as a main income, just enough profit to grow itself to allow more people to take part.
Probably isnt my place to comment on indy though :)
(added: aw lets you have unlimited vids and images and gives you a full platform which is all included in its %, your margin for indy doesnt include this though making the gap abit smaller at least, space and bandwidth can be expensive, most dont take advantage of this on aw unfortunately)

You made some good points here! I always push the idea of being indy in terms of having your own web site. Besides making the highest margins, indy web sites ARE business assets that grow with time as long as they are kept updated and live. Whatever starts with simple independent blog on its own domain can grow into multi-million media empire.
So yes, you are right. As long as model is serious about her modeling career, why not to establish her independent web presence at the beginning and then grow it into something big.
