Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?
Hi guys!
New here and currently dance at a dive in Tampa, Fl >:[
I've been frustrated for a while, because it seems like most of the clubs in Tampa
that I've auditioned for have either had their ebony dancer quota fill, or don't want to give me a chance.
I've auditioned at Mons(didn't realize they liked pin thin girls at the time), and Scarlett's(they told me I was "too stiff on stage, and didn't interact with the crowd much)."
This of course was an enormous ego blow but I sucked it up and drove all the way to Bare Assets in Pasco County, only to get rejected by the bouncer because "they weren't hiring" -even though I called before I drove up there to make sure they were because I barely had enough money to make it there. Upset and, on the same night I drove to 2001 Odyssey, and couldn't even get inside of the door because the bouncer rejected me. I've been rejected from 2001 a total of three, count 'em THREE times. All three I have yet to make it inside.
I've also worked at Bliss Caberet in Clearwater, and alas, there was no money for me to be made there. My nightly total was an average $50 with tipout. If I was lucky.
In addition, I've worked at Emporers in Tampa. But that club was an extremely slow hustle. I was lucky to have made $80/90 for the amount of clientele that was present.
I also worked at Shangri-La while it was being renovated into Scores.
I had nothing to show for that except $12 for a whole night shift. Not enough clientele there either.
:'( :-[
I'm saddened and embarrassed that I've even had these horrible experiences...
I don't know if I should just go ahead and pursue a mostly black club, or stick to something where I'm the one of the only black girls.
I mean, I already suck on stage and I don't even have much of an ass as it is...lol.
Additionally, I just don't see myself dancing at a black club because I've always been seen as "bougie" and if the customers aren't feeling it and I'm not comfortable=no money. In no means am I saying that I'm better than other black people, Im just stating my upbringing is a little non traditional.
On the contrary, I would love to land a job at thee dollhouse! But I don't want to get rejected again, or earn what I'm averaging now with higher house fees because thats just not worth it.
At my current club Im averaging 100-200 a night, which is decent. but I feel like I deserve so much more. My stats are 130, 5'3, size 5, 34D...Im going to include a quick face picture and a bikini pic in this post. Im not made up here, but trying to give you ladies a general idea about my looks.
Confused as to what type of club to be pursuing from here...

Re: Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?
I remember working at gold club in 09. There were a shit ton of black girls there including a really hot one who danced to Rammstein.

Thank you for replying!
Did you/the rest of the black girls make decent money? Was the tip out high?

It wasn't too bad like $65 for night shift. I did ok, but I was also homesick and going through some shit at the time so that fucked with me. I worked at FDC on 56th st and it was a fucking blast. I dunno if it's even still around. After Tampa I hit up New Orleans. fun times fun times.

Re: Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?
I am surprised ba didnt hire you as there was a girl there who looked almost just like you when I was there. Dont go to doll house I worked there 3 years and they are picky with black girls though my black gf works there now she is tall and really skinny. You have a more athletic body. I would try some of the clubs on adamo as mentoned above you might have luck there!

Re: Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?
Yea, I dont know what happened with BA.
I went in with a positive attitude and was well spoken. The doorgirl seemed to like me, and didn't mind me auditioning. But then the bouncer came, and he took my id walked back into the club and came back up to me. He then stated they "weren't hiring for nightshift."
The doorgirl looked at him sideways and she was like "are YOU sure?"
Within a second, magically a spot opened up and he told me to come back for dayshift, try it out, and if the manager likes me he can move me to nights, but apparently theres too many girls on nightshifts now.
I wasn't sure if I should have even pursued the offer, because Tampa is a long way to drive all the way out to Holiday/Pasco to work a dayshift to MAYBE make around 100 with tip out because I know those club fees aren't cheap just see if i can be moved on to nightshifts.....
I called them on the phone before I went up there and asked three times if they were hiring-specifically for nightshifts. I know for a solid fact whoever picked up thought I was white.
Yeah, wasn't too sure about dollhouse, but I thought they wanted that body type........
I'll definitely look into the adamo clubs.
But I also would like to hear your perspective on the real reason why Scarlett's didn't like me.
Because there was definitely a black girl who was T H I CK up in there, and that not knowing how to dance bs didn't didn't seem legit to me.
I feel like its harder for black girls to find a club when your not super waif like and tall,
but your not thickalicious either.

in 2009 i worked at 24kt in largo. i was the only black girl mid-shift but there were a couple of hispanic girls. potential to break 100. not as big as 2001 or adamo clubs - i didn't really try honestly. maybe night is better

They probably did fill their *black girl quota* because I didn't think they were really to strict about body as long as you're height and weight proportioned and cute. They prefer the thicker girls to wear one pieces or dresses. The few of the night black dancers have been there for a while.

i didnt know that the adamo clubs were so popular....
im going to have to go down there then as well.
i dont have much to loose.
thank you!

Re: Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?
i suppose at most of these clubs, looks, timing, and persistence is key.
i'll def, have to keep trying then!
its very hard not to want to take things too personally, but i suppose thats what this industry is about.

Re: Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?
Wear em down girl. Keep going back like every two weeks but on diff nights. That way you come into contact with diff managers/bouncers. I worked at a club and the blk bouncer always always turned my petite very fit attractive friend away repeatedly. I told her switch it up. He didn't like blk girls unless they didn't look blk and as gatekeeper he wielded power. She went back and caught another bouncer, who was white, and he took her right in to meet manager. This club had bgq so even saying she was my friend wouldn't have helped. She was hired and after few days they asked if we knew each other and we said yes. The manager said if I had told him he wouldve hired her regardless of quota. The gm said she was lucky he had a girl in mind to fire and the other manager let her in before they fired the other girl because otherwise she would've had to wait.
These clubs can be ridiculous with the bgq and all, but when you find a club where you know you could fit in and make $ haunt their asses. Come in as a customer and tip/get friendly with girls. They may be able to help you with getting hired. In between customer visits and hiring attempts some manager is gonna give you a shot. Even if a manager doesn't think you are a good candidate one will eventually give you a chance to sink or swim just so he can get a break. Think like Rudy Huxtable "I'm wearing you down Bud, wearing you down" Go get em!

Re: Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?
yes girl!! It is reDICKulous about how picky they are with hiring black dancers. I always thought it was so weird bc I have GORGEOUS ones who auditioned (with impressive pole tricks) get turned down and it was obviously bc of their race. But I agree...definetly check out the brandon clubs! Especially gold club (i think it's alled gold rush now??). I dnt know what the earning potential is there now, but it's worth a try!

Re: Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?
thanks for the awesome advice!
i just feel like, as a black dancer that i have to be better. better than everyone else.
its sad.
its funny how they'll give everyone else a chance, but when your black you don't get chances.
you just have to do >:[

Re: Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?
I'm wondering the same thing me and my friend wants to give Tampa a try but it seems as though you have to be white in order to land a dancer job in most clubs. Is it even worth the try or what other places seems to be good for black girls.

Re: Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?

Wow girl, did you eventually find a better club? I hope you did because you deserve a lot more than $200/nite. Maybe you should consider traveling to work and not dancing in Tampa.

Re: Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?
It's funny that you mention it summer time is around the corner, and i feel like my money is already starting to go down already. I figure if it's like this now-I can't wait till it gets any worse. So I actually went back to scarletts last week to see if they would let me audition, but the manager said no "they werent hiring" even though i called before i showed up there so that was a no go again.
However I'm going to try 2001 to see if I can work mid-shift and ease my way into nights.
If all else fails I'm going to try scores and then bare assets :)
Trying not go get discouraged here, but I'm not sure with the real problem is. I'm not trying to be rude- but I don't understand what's so special about every other girl in these clubs and what makes them so much better than me.

Absolutely nothing. That's what racism is, 'we have the numbers and we use them to screw you over...just because'.
Keep plugging away at it. Also consider other avenues like bartending, cocktailing, web camming. There's a lot of ways to put that charm and pretty face to good use.

Re: Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?
So I finally made it into 2001! I'm working mid shift but hopefully I can start working nights if I get in good with management :)
My best friend knew someone who got me in there, and.
I'm so happy :DDD
When I auditioned i might quite a bit of cash easily so I'm hoping earning potential is good for mid shift? I go back tomorrow so we'll see what happens. I'll update you ladies!

Re: Tampa, Fl-Clubs that actually want black women?
If you ever want to give DH a try, you def should. I've been working here for 6 years. We have plenty of dancers of different ethnic backgrounds. Its your overall look and attitude that will get you hired here, not what "color" you are.
