Not only do the women that work on cam sites have a reasonable expectation that their information is kept safe but its the LAW in most states that sensitive personal information is encrypted. And if any breach occurs each and every person's who's information has been compromised MUST be notified and informed about the breach and what they can do to protect themselves.
If this information was kept in a directory and not encrypted, we in the legal field call that negligence.
I am no longer involved with 2257Safe (now 2257Snap) because of this issue. Our (your) records were stored on what are called PCI-DSS compliant servers. They are the gold standard of online security. Thats the kind of servers that credit card and banks use for your information. The are almost impossible to hack. No one in adult uses them because they are extremely expensive to maintain. But I was not comfortable with anything else.
I am now involved in mass copyright downloader lawsuits and I didnt want 2257Safe to be a target for hackers so I stepped aside from the business to protect people's security.

If a company is going to ask you for IDs and personal information they have a duty to protect that information from everyone - hackers and disgruntled employees.
If those that post on this board do not bring this issue to a broader audience it will never change. Independent cam sites will continue to store your records online and if they are only 64 bit encrypted most teenage hackers can get those. Even 128 bit encryption isnt that hard to hack.
I am just a lawyer but if my personal information was compromised by someone's negligence I would want to see SOMETHING done about it.

Re: warning about your privacy.
Wow u girls need to let this shit go! Really! All I see is some money hungry females honestly or drama queens. Me personally I am on camwealth and my id leaked out but guess what, this is the INTERNET. Anyone can get hacked and shit happens! No need in making this man life any harder than it is. & I recieved emails and yahoo IM from him stating how sorry he was and the issue is resolved. He even stated he's loosing sleep. So why the fuck would u sue someone just b/c their site got hacked? Even if it was behind a password protected page guess what ... IT WOULDNT HAVE MATTERED! Hackers hack! "Enter password & username" isn't gonna stop a hacker, so either way u chicks r making a big deal out of nothing.
I am just disappointed at how some of u girls r looking at this situation. Getting hacked is not fun and is very stressful. Why would u bash someone for their website getting hacked, no matter if u where a model on there or not, SHIT HAPPENS! Thats life. Get over it. i don't care how u take this, but ive been camming for 2 years, i have my own website and too much to be worrying abt than to go and make a poor man life even more miserable & to sue him. Give him a break. You chicks just tryna get paid and if its THAT serious then u need to change your job occupation. This is the internet, anything can be leaked out trust me. I am a fucking computer nerd and I KNOW even if he had our id's behind a password protective page or w/e that it still couldve happened.
Obviously if ur upset at him for getting hacked then this is not the job for you. Hell if your site got hacked, im sure u wouldn't want anyone suing u especially a model who is not even verified on ur site. SMH find a clue please.

Re: warning about your privacy.
cashiers see your ID, they can stalk you too.
should I sue Winn Dixie or Publix?
-
Re: warning about your privacy.
yes but we are trying to keep our identity on the low- especially those who have other jobs, family.
also, theres more of a chance that a guy on a camsite would stalk you than a 16year old cashier at the grocery store.
i know stuff can be leaked, but shit- that is not cool what they did.

Re: warning about your privacy.
@ Charnixxx The site wasn't hacked, The "hacker" didn't have to break the networks security to get through, probably didn't spend anymore than 20 minutes on the net looking around, the IDs were just sitting on random pages- which in the black hat world we wouldn't consider that hacking. I used to be in a group (when i was a kid) where we trolled and actually hacked away through a very popular forum on the internet (which i have seen stated here a while back) and also left keylogger and such on public computers just to see if we could... i'm computer nerd. Not just someone who knows some fancy htmp/css to make a website, i deal with the actual operating systems portion, and can send PCs and sites from working to "DOS/DDOS" in just under 45 minutes (but i dont do things like that anymore... lol illegal! I'm mad at Camwealth for not giving us information on the case (and lets say a case number so we'd know that something is being done by law enforcement, not just a "we're handling the situation.") I don't want money im not "thristy" (just learned that term too lol), I just want to be sure that in the case of something BAD coming out of this situation, that they will be liable (if it can be connected to this incident) without contest in court from them. Also, some of us want to keep our private information just that- private. Some of us aren't that casual and chill about having info out there on us... I hardly post my face in photos online (definitely no nudes in public) and if i do its 95% of the time in a members area if the site is catered to North American consumers, and if overseas then I will post face (with big watermarks to deter people from using i around the net). Also the difference between the supermarket worker and some person who is "targeting" cam models is the fact they have quite a bit of blackmail goodies, while the supermarket worker probably have never seen your ass in their life and will hardly remember you due to the fact they see tons of people daily.
Also anything can happen in the hacking world, not even if its password protected. If someone (or a team) is dedicated enough to find it they will eventually. Thats kinda why you make hard copies of information... and keep it at a secure location. I'm sure this "hacker" wouldn't have James Bond'd himself into the facility to just get some ids. Unless it was for some freaking CIA operation. It was a VERY avoidable situation.
@CamWhore ....... you guys still got Winn Dixie? I thought they went out of business like circa 1997 .... huh.

We have absolutely NO proof he was "Hacked" and every reason to believe that the IDs were carelessly stored in an open directory.
We have ABSOLUTELY no proof any other site was hacked, and every reason to believe that this site is claiming that to keep the heat off.
I am NOT effected by this other than to be horrified that some site allowed the worst thing to happen and that the repercussions of this could last for years, and STILL the information needed to lay it to rest is not forthcoming.
I agree with pornlaw, this needs to be brought out like a vampire into the shining light of day, and those who are liable should pay.

Re: warning about your privacy.
Charnixxx, its easy to say this , right ?
But when you were in business for long and appeared on many sites before this one and such thing happend you wont be so happy and say "OH , this is life , what we can do ? Nothing! Why you are in such drama girls!"
And just to sit at home and laugh with friends about it. And why not to make a party ? This is not a drama but a crime. Be serious Charnixxx!
I want this one who hacked the site and have the IDs, used them to blackmail us and stress us, to be punish by the law. I dont want money .
-
Re: warning about your privacy.
In the end, it is not like anyone else seeing your ID, because it was the guy/gal who came and FUCKED with you Camwhore who saw it....Not a clerk, a malicious motherfucker who is bent on causing problems and making sure these ladies KNOW he has em by the short hairs...so it IS serious....and none of THAT is even the point.
If they left the IDs in an open directory, for even ONE minute, they deserve to be shut down and removed from the internet, because they commited the worst sin in the adult world...you NEVER give the secret identities of your superheroines away...PERIOD. EVER. They are like fucking diamonds and gold and need to be kept in a lockbox under the sea buried beneath unstable world war 2 torpedos.....and irradiated...with sharks swimming around....and armed mutant robot killer whales!

Yah, I have no real problems with suing for 1 cent...just show that the negligence is punished. I think that to store IDs in an open location is a travesty.
The money is unimportant...it's just that everytime someone says "sue" people think it is about money...personally, if my ID was compromised, I'd sue for like $3million and then give it ALL to charity. Satisfied that I shut down the motherfucker that leaked my ID.

Re: warning about your privacy.
I just got a pm from CW on Yahoo saying this has all been a rumor and there's no evidence that any information was taken from the site:
Quote:
Models, it has come to our attention that the incident that occured on November 14th has caused a dramatic flare up of rumors, false information and slander toward our company. The official and factual information is located at
http://camwealth.com/loginmodel.html . At this time we have not received as requested in that official statement ANY evidence to support information was taken off of our servers during that breach. We welcome all information in regards to this issue to be mailed to
[email protected]. Even though we are required to inform you all of the breach it appears that with out any evidence of damages this has become more a rumor, slander and false information story. Our system is secure, and your safety is our #1 concern. Thanks for your continued support.

ive been readin, but havnt posted as im not indy, this question does apply to me so ill answer.
I would try my hardest to find out what exactly happened, and i would sue if they kept our ID online and got hacked due to careless security measures (which mfc seem to have bad security anyways), if it was kept on a directory, i would sue out of carelessness to protect documents. Only because theres so many stalkers/wierdo's out there on camsites/the internet, who would probably jump at the chance to scare the shit out of me through blackmail. (all those dicks i banned), even a loved up reg could prove troublesome if he knew my details.
but i would only do this, if i had someone qoute my address, full name, an show me the copy of ID i sent in.

Re: warning about your privacy.
Ummmm anyone get this message?
I'm sending you this since CamWealth is irresponsible and won't tell you any information. As you probably know, the site you work for CamWealth left your ID and the other models- in an open directory. If you didn't understand that let me give you an image. We have a walmart, we have 30 empolyees (cam models), a boss (Chris), and there is a desk outside the store, that has your and the others IDs on it. Anyone can see them, and take them. That is what happened with the site. If you care anything about this situation I would advise you to quit ASAP and get legal consultation. If you don't care that in the future your identity may be stolen and you linked with illegal activites, then ignore this message. :D friendly neighborhood watchman.
