Here goes nothin'
I'm finally doing it-- going in to see if I can get an audition. I've been stalking these boards and a couple clubs for weeks, and I think I finally have the nerve up.
Thank god you guys are here. Could never have done this without the advice and inspiration on these boards.
Thank you, and wish me luck! <3

Re: Here goes nothin'
Audition tomorrow. Panic! I have no shoes, no clothes other than a velvet corset thing and a couple garter belts.
Can anyone advise what I could pick up relatively cheaply that would flatter a flat chested girl with a big butt? I get compliments on my hips/ass all the time, but the boobs are just lacking. Maybe something I can pull down a little so what I do have pops up?
I have a friend that works at a sex/lingerie shop who can get me 40% off, so there's that, and that's awesome. But I don't know what to buy, or how much to invest when I might be turned down.
Thanks all <3

I would have advice to have waited until you have your (dancer) stuff together
Nevertheless good luck ;-)

Re: Here goes nothin'
If your friend's store sells shoes, get those. Best investment ever, since they really are more comfortable and make you look a lot more like you belong in the club. Find out the club dress code and plan accordingly. You'd be surprised by how many long shirts in your closet can double up as dresses for the club. Otherwise, get some cheap stuff if you really have nothing to wear, because you'll quickly learn what sort of stripperwear is for you once you start, and there's no point blowing lots of money on stripperwear you won't end up liking that much once you get into it.

Re: Here goes nothin'
Just an update, and a question! :)
I had to delay the audition until today because I was sick. I did get some shoes, thanks for that tip!
I think I did okay. I didn't fall over in the scary stripper shoes, at least. Felt like I sort of ran out of "moves" so I mostly sort of walked around and posed.
The owner called me over to talk, and told me I should start out on a day shift because "weekends would eat you alive right now". He has the schedule all filled up until next week, but said he'd send me a text if something opened up after that. Soooo not exactly an instant hire, but not exactly a "no", right? Should I be expecting him to call, or is this a polite brush off?
He also mentioned that if I wanted to start right away, I should go try a few other clubs in town, and mentioned a couple specifically. Just not sure really what I should read into this, and it's driving me nuts! What did he mean by "eaten alive"?
I had so much fun just doing the audition, I think I will go hit up those other clubs tomorrow. Thank you again so much for the amazing advice and support! Whee!

Re: Here goes nothin'
So I went to one of the other clubs the first guy suggested yesterday, and got hired after my audition and asked to stay all night and work. :)!
I loved it, everyone was so nice, the customers were sweet and respectful, and I met a really cool girl who helped me a *ton*. I only managed to stay until about 12:30 because my legs were so tired from the shoes, and my boyfriend was freaking out asking me to come home. But in 3 hours I sold my first dance and made about 60 bucks on what looked like a pretty slow night -- there were maybe 5-6 guys in the club on and off, and two of them were completely hooked on another girl and wouldn't look at anyone else.
I'm scheduled to work Saturday night now -- eek! I'm really hoping I can make some good money; 60 in 3 hours is okay but I want to make *bank* so I can quit the day job. I really need to learn to be less shy. Mostly I played up the newbie role and asked guys to "let me practice on them"...for cash, of course. :P
Does it sound like I did ok? I really don't know how much is good/bad on a Wednesday night. To me, what I made sounds promising I guess, but I'm nervous about doing it full time yet.
And the boyfriend is really not happy about this. I need to figure out what I'm going to say to him tonight when we discuss it. At first he said he thought he'd be ok with it, but now that it's a reality I think he's having a really hard time. Anything I can say to convince him that this will be ok?

Re: Here goes nothin'
My boyfriend was like that to begin with I had to talk to him for three months before he would let me dance without a fight. Finally I just got so frustrated I screamed at him, I think the gist of the screaming was I refuse to live off the state if I'm able bodied and if you like being poor you can but I'm not. :) but I'm just dramatic lol

Ebay?
No idea...been stripping for almost 2 weeks now, the boyfriend is still not *happy* about it but has chilled out a lot after a couple good fights, and I'm so glad I have him to come home to after a bad night.
I've had several amazing nights, and 2-3 really bad ones. Today was terrible, we had 7 girls on and maybe 5 customers all day, and most of those were regulars who didn't want to talk to anyone but their favorites. I'm starting to think I need to switch more hours over to the other club I've been working at. I don't like it as much, but I've never walked out of there with less than $150 while the club I like can be so painfully, painfully slow...made $40 today after staying for 8 hours. It was awful.
Still loving dancing, I just wish I were better at being "up" and hustling all the time. When it's slow like this I get down and I have a hell of a time pulling myself back out of it.

Yes, ebay is great for stripper wear.
Try different clubs.
