What cam do you use for caming?
So im new to all this and have read a bunch of the threads here about caming and i feel good about toys, outfits, crazy requests ect but i'm wondering what video equipment you all use?
I plan on using the webcam i have on hand and then getting something with better quality and probably a remote (just because that seems super convenient) but ofc any input would be wonderful.
Thank you :)

I use Logitech Pro 9000. Clear picture, good mic, nothing super fancy, but gets the job done :)

Re: What cam do you use for caming?
I Agree Pro 9000 or Orbit AF working absolutly great ;)

same, although truthfully, I like the 9000 better. I have a brand new windows 7 laptop, Intel 5 processor, dedicated 1 Gig video card, so you would think that I would have no issues with the c910, but it locks up on me every so often or it won't even turn off! No problems with the 9000 though.
Anyone know if we can have both installed at the same time? Not necessarily using both at the same time, but just have both cams installed on the computer so I can switch between them? I hate having to uninstall one just to use the other, but I'm not too cmputer savvy.

Re: What cam do you use for caming?
Logitech 9000 all the way, great for a beginner it was one of my first cams . Def don't try to go cheap and buy a 20 or 30 dollar cam unless thats all of the money you have to spend, and you need to get started right now.
I did that when I first started and guys complained about my cam quality, so it probably lost me potential regulars. :/ It's better to just invest the couple extra bucks on a good clear cam

Re: What cam do you use for caming?
same here
logitech pro 9000 and c910
the c910 is sharper, but for me I prefer the 'look' of the 9000 because the colours seem better (even after spending hours playing with the settings for the c910 it still looks a bit 'grey' to me)

Strange, the colors on my c910 are very vivid, almost too much color intensity whereas I don't have to do any adjusting whatsoever with the 9000.

Re: What cam do you use for caming?
I use Microsoft Lifecam Cinema HD... or whatever the hell it's called. I don't really like it, particularly since it doesn't have a 'mirror' effect, but I couldn't find the Logitech 9000 in any stores around here. :'(
It does have a high quality picture though.

I tried that one after using my 9000 but before purchasing the c910. I didn't like it one bit. Everything looked very dull and washed out.

Re: What cam do you use for caming?
^^ I play around with the settings a lot to get a warmer, more vibrant picture. Sometimes I go overboard though and don't realize how orange I look, heh.

Re: What cam do you use for caming?
I have the Logitech HD C910 now and love it. Prior to that, I had a Logitech cam (E3500 or something...I forgot) that definitely wasn't HD, meaning the quality was lacking.
I've heard lots of good things about Logitech 9000 also.
HD is definitely the way to go. :)

Re: What cam do you use for caming?
I currently am using a Logitech C910 and a Logitech Orbit AF.
I've used the logitech 9000 and the Lifecam Cinema as well...
I don't like the cinema, it autofocuses too much for me. I like that it has tripod mount, though.
I don't like the Orbit AF, because it has no clue where my face is and I have to adjust it anyways, so why shouldn't I just move it. However, mine MAY be defective, so I'll figure that out soon enough. It maintains a really low framerate for me.
I like the c910 the best... but it likes to randomly fail for me. Uhhh. Logitech 9000 is my second choice.
Soon I'm going to get a camcorder with a remote and a motorized tripod. I'm going to try to stuff them into rubber casing so I can have them both together but still looking kind of cute, but we'll see how that goes.

Re: What cam do you use for caming?
I'm using Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro for Mac and then once upgrade to Snow Leopard. I'm going to purchase IPEVO Point 2 View because it offers more better features software compatible for Mac & Windows (if I ever want to join a site that only run by using Windows then I can get boot camp with Windows 7 and use IPEVO and then can switch back to Mac platform to sites that supports Mac).

Is it true that IPEVO point 2 view is under $100? Is there another cam called IPEVO POV?
Also regarding Mac OS; I have Tiger and I want to just go ahead and upgrade to Snow Leopard, but someone told me I actually have to buy leopard and then snow leopard; true?
PS: I feel like we're talkin about animal training lol..

IPEVO Point 2 View from the website at the moment it's price $69.00
http://www.ipevo.com/prods/Point-2-V...B-Camera/IPEVO
They first made IPEVO POV (Point of view) that's only compatible for Windows and they reduce the price for that $14.99 from the website
http://www.ipevo.com/prods/PoV-USB-Camera/IPEVO
It looks lot similar to the IPEVO Point 2 view that's both Mac and Windows compatible just the difference IPEVO POV is black texture and that one don't come with the little stand and the IPEVO Point 2 View is in grey texture with the little stand to clip on and off.

If you're using Intel Mac you can upgrade to Snow Leopard without buying Leopard only for PowerPC can't use Snow Leopard. Apple mention on the website for those on Tiger to get the box set that includes all the updates for the isoftware Mac (iLife'11,iWork'11,iMovie'11 and etc.).
I'm going to check with Apple to see if can just get the upgrade without the full box set. I don't want to have to pay for the box set $129 want the upgrade at $29.

I have the same low frame rate with my orbit! If you take it off the stand, it works really really well. Try and let me know if it works better for you;)

Re: What cam do you use for caming?
i use a logitech quick cam af for 2 years now, and i love it...i was thinking some while back to buy a new one the c910 but i read some reviews and comparing those 2, the new one isnt much better than what i have. i also saw on youtube how the c910 works and no difference from what i have. although it is very important the light, doesnt matter so much the cam u use as much as the light in ur room. light makes everything

Re: What cam do you use for caming?
Logitech pro 9000 - great colors! and great cam quality over all
-
Re: What cam do you use for caming?
I have a logitech 9000 too, but I don't like that I have to clip it to my laptop when I use it. I would love to be able to put it on a stand.

Re: What cam do you use for caming?
i use a tripod for my pro 9000, is not the fanciest thing, but it works, i tie it up with an elastic band to my tripod, it has never fall from there and i can move it around my room whenever i want :) here's a pic

Oh whoa! I finally got my ass on the support line with them and they acted upset that my frame rate was so low and made me send it back!
I know the extension stand is just a glorified USB extension cord, so it makes sense that the framerate would lower.. but only if it was really long!
How low was your framerate, mine was like.. 4fps in the same lighting my c910 gets 30fps, without the stick it was 8fps for me. :(

Ok great because I have the black macbook with the intel core duo; so hopefully just the $29
Lol: the next one will probably be Cougar:D
