^Wow that doesnt sound like youd make money even if it wasnt cut throat..can you try a different club or area?
nowadays a new stripper isn't going to make as much as the experienced strippers. I've been dancing for about 10 months now and I'm still ALWAYS learning different hustling tricks. plus some girls are just naturally better at it than others. sometimes a girl will have a personality that's just a huge turnoff and there's nothing she can do about it. some girls aren't good actors
I would say try to hustle in this environment. it can be a good way to learn FAST. try it for a month. if nothing is changing, try a new club, but I bet in a few days you'll start learning what your hustle is.
^x2
What works for one girl won't necessarily work for you, especially if you're forcing it. Take different approaches they use that you're comfortable with and integrate them into your own hustle. Over time, you'll develop your own style that will, hopefully, be effective in selling you dances.
Also, it's okay to be a day girl. I'm not a big fan of the night environment, both because of the girls like that, but mainly because I get tired and then cranky, and that makes for stripper fail - I just don't have the patience for drunk dudes or guys just wanting to chill and not buy dances. You didn't mention any complains about the day shift, so why don't you try more of those? Or if possible, do a swing shift so you can get half the day shift crowd and half of the evening/early night shift crowd. Best of both worlds and that way you're not tired from essentially working a double.
^ I agree. I worked nights for almost two years before switching to day shifts. I liked it much better and actually made more money. Wading through all the dead wood at nights was irritating and I felt drained and worn down at the end of my shift.
There are usually more regulars on days and most have limited time to spend sitting around in the club. So, they spend their limit and leave (usually to go back to work before they're missed).
the cool thing about day shift too is that most clubs will allow you to stay for a couple more hours if you did bad or just want to make an extra hundred bucks or whatever. I like day shifts more because of this. There's a high earning potential for day shift at my club, and I usually hit my goal, but on slow days I can stay until 9 or 10. Night shift starts at 6 so most of the girls haven't even arrived by the time I'm gone and the manager loves the fact that I'm willing to stay.
Plus day shift is just less draining in general. You can have a normal sleeping schedule and driving at night is tiring. And you don't get stuck in traffic! If I go to the club at 12 and leave at 6 or 7 I miss all the early morning and 5 o'clock traffic jams :] lol it's the little things in life...
that's pretty good you made almost 200 on your first day? my first day I made like 150 and I was WICKED nervous and didn't talk to anyone so it got a lot easier.
and don't think of the dance prices as "expensive". when you're talking to a customer, remember, you're worth it! you're young and beautiful and interesting and if you weren't in the club you wouldn't even give half these guys the time of day!
does the club get a cut of your money? mention that! use that to your advantage when the guy starts trying to haggle you.
example:
Dancer: "so are you ready to get naughty with me in the lap dance booth?"
Customer: "how much?"
D: "it's only 35 :)"
C: "35 dollars?! they used to be 25!"
D: "I knoowww, but I have to pay the club 10 dollars for each dance I give. come on....what's an extra 10 dollars....for meeeeeeeeeeee?" *puppy eyes* "aren't I worth it?"
C: "yeah you are... aww ok let's go!"
From one newbie to another here is what helped me a lot. My first night was terrible. I mean awful My second night was much, much better :) This is what is working for me...
1) Eye contact. Gaze into their eyes a bit. I saw a experienced stripped doing this it works :) Tilt your head to the side (this is body language that shows you're interested in what they're saying)
2) My DJ told me this. Have you seen little mermaid?? Remember she can't talk but the prince falls in love with her through body language? That is what you've got to do at a strip club. He told me men want the women they could never talk to on the street. Nobody wants a dance from their sister. Here you're a sex goddess.
3) I remember I saw your pics you posted for your audition. I have a similar look. I'm brunette, semi pale skin, no implants etc. Hustle the older gentlemen. The ones that look like they have money. They have also been the kindest most respectful to me. I mean I've enjoyed their company the most so far... The younger guys go for the implant, blonde thing more. That is b/c they have never experienced it. I think we're like the pretty girl in high school they would date but they want that stereotypical stripper "look" You know what I mean?? That doesn't mean you shouldn't ask. Everyone is different.
4) Smell good. Know men respond to touch.... stroke his arm or leg. Play with his hair. I'm not saying grab his crotch. Be seductive. Remember you're the girl he could never talk to on the street.
5) Read up on body language. When you're done with your stage set approach the men who tipped you. You can sit on you knees in front of him. Touch his knees. Introduce yourself. Ask him how he is. Say Lets go dance. Or would you like a dance? Smile look happy.
Good luck
Oh and get to the men ins suits after work. The men with nice watches.. etc. you'll see the experienced dancers almost run over there. I don't think they mind since they often HAVE the money to spend. Those seem to the kind that drop hundreds in VIP. Good luck. I guess we'll learn as we go.
Whoah whoah wait, not to derail but that's ALOT of money for a club to be taking?! This sounds like Deja Vu.
Waaait, the normal price is $100 for one song? Are you serious? How the hell do you sell any? How does anyone make that worth it?
^ Jesus Christ. My mind has been blown, truly.
Is that just expected in the club? Or do most of the customers laugh when they hear the prices?
Isn't DV a huge club? So every night you have like 70+ girls working. How could you possibly consistently have enough high-dollar customers to even get every girl ONE dance???
Dude...wtf. Who the fuck would pay that much money for one song. I could have money coming out of my ass and I still wouldn't pay that.
I'm totally freaking out...Here in the MidWest, guys balk at spending $100 for a 1/2 hour CR.
Are the rooms beautiful enough to warrant that pricing? I mean 1 song is hardly enough time to even really start dancing!
Seems like San Francisco is a really odd place to have prices that high. I mean, you might expect that in Vegas or someplace where the city is founded upon vice and extravagant spending.
Is it.. DEAD dead... like... there are 2 customers all day?
Or is it just... quiet?
Believe it or not...Mexicans who speak no English.
And no... there was just a row of booths maybe 3 feet wide each. Lol
I would never have stopped working at that club if I spoke Spanish... but it was so hard trying to communicate to sell dances. LOL Half the time the customers would try to stop me to talk... then when I didn't understand them... they'd just hand me money and gesture at the lapdance area... but when it was dead... I was SOL since it's hard to hustle men who don't even speak the same language as you.
There's a certain mentality that goes with upselling from the already-ridiculous price to 2x the ridiculous price. Perhaps the girls are successful because they're putting themselves on a different level than you. At $200/song, it HAS to be worth it, right? So maybe that's what wins them the sale.
Also, perhaps you can brainwash yourself a bit to make them easier to sell. Pretend you're trying to sell the dance for $10 instead of $100. I mean, your dances are definitely worth $10, so that'd give you the confident air to sell the dance with an "I dare you to even suggest that I'm not worth it" tone.
Yikes! Sounds like your only hope is to build up some regulars. :-\
Sometimes that's the only way to keep your income decent when the club is dead like yours is now.
