Got hired, but almost fell on stage
Last night I got hired at Crazy Horse in Nashville, Tn. It was my first time dancing so I was extremely nervous. However I was told I'd be hired before the audition and the managers seemed excited about me. I'm not sure why because I was a nervous wreck when I was dancing. This includes almost falling, banging into the pole once, and all together executing a sloppy dance with a couple of good spins. I'm used to my shoes so I was wondering why the stage was so fucking slippery? Does it take long to get used to the surface? That was the culprit, besides shaky legs, of all of my failings.

Re: Got hired, but almost fell on stage
My first time dancing on stage I almost fell several times. I realized a long time later that the shoes I had worn did not have any treads on the bottom, so they were slick regardless. Once you get a good pair of stripper shoes and get comfortable in them, the falling thing won't be such a huge concern anymore. If your stripper shoes don't have treads on them, buy some thick ones from a shoe store or shoe repair store and put them on yourself. You can trim them to match the shape of the shoe.
You get used to dancing on stage pretty quick. Stage fright is normal at first, but it will go away once you're used to the environment. Hell, sometimes I still get a little nervous when I've been on vacation for a couple weeks and it's my first night back. Just move slowly, have good posture, and breathe. You'll do fine.

It might have been body oil or lotion on the stage. That stuff is pretty much evil.

Re: Got hired, but almost fell on stage
I did my first stage set yesterday. All the girls at my club do amazing tricks. I just kind of walked slowly and did some floor work. I pointed my toes a lot. I have no idea how I looked. I told My DJ to be brutally honest he said was "amazing considering it was my first time.. he said I didn't skip a beat" hmph.. I also wear wedge stripper shoes. Several girls do at my club. They're easy to walk in :)

Could be lotion/oil on the stage... But sometimes shoes are just slick on certain types of stage.
You could try picking up a pair of anti-slip adhesives for the bottom of your shoes if it's an ongoing problem. Something like http://www.heelsncleavage.com/product18289_269202.aspx#

Re: Got hired, but almost fell on stage
Yeah, I'm thinking it was nerves, someone's lotion, and my worn out shoes. I bought a new pair of shoes that aren't worn at the bottom and I didn't slip once! Thanks for the suggestions about buying treads, I don't want to quit wearing my favorite heals but practicing on my carpet appears to have worn out the bottoms.

Haha, yeah, a funny selection of culprits. My top also got caught on my earring so I had to fidget with it for a bit. Oh well, with time I'll get better, hopefully.

I hope so! Thanks for the encouragement. That's the mistake I made, I got frazzled when I messed up.

That sounds difficult. I always practice on a spinning pole, so I know what you mean. The poles at crazy horse spin, but they seem bigger around around and faster, it's weird.

Hmmm... I dont no but I use to work there a long time ago as a waitress! I really want to loose some more weight first and take some pole dance classes, so I will have less of a chance of getting rejected::)
Anyways I know a girl I use to be friends with works there but I havent talked to her in ages... Is the place any good as far as money goes?

I need to take some classes too. If you find a good class let me know :) It would be cool to not have to go to lessons alone.
