Pushy Bartenders?
Okay so the club I work has dances starting at 25. Technically 25 only buys the dancer a "drink" but that will get u a 1 song dance. The "drink" is the dancers preference of juice. 50 buys 15 minutes, etc. etc. Now of that 25 dollars the dancer gets 9, the rest goes to the house. So of that 50 I'll only get 18. As soon as I sit down and talk to a customer (and it's not just me it's all the dancers) a bartender will come up and is like "Want to buy the lady a drink or go in VIP for 50 for 15 minutes" Like we don't even get a chance to really connect before the bartenders are literally doing our jobs for us... or at least trying to.
One of my customers last night asked me how much of the 25 I got (after the pushy bar tender came back twice) and I told him I would much rather have him throw 25 ones on stage than to "buy me a drink". Am I wrong for that? He then went on to say I hate how they try to pressure you into dances before you even get comfortable. He went on to throw about 75 dollars in 1s and 5s on stage while I was dancing which was cool because I got all of it, rather than just 27 dollars which I'd of gotten in the VIP Room.
How do you counteract the pushiness of the bartenders who are trying to make money for the house but cutting into your money?

Re: Pushy Bartenders?
cut off the bartender. be like "could you give us a second?" when she comes over and then tell the customer about how the club rips you off before she comes back.

Re: Pushy Bartenders?
So wait, wait... the cost of the drink ALSO buys them a dance?
Or you're saying the cost of a drink is the same as a dance? /confused

Re: Pushy Bartenders?
Let's a say a customer wants to buy a dancer a drink. The cost is 25, the dancer gets a glass of juice (customer does not know it's juice), and the customer gets a dance (if the dancer wants). Anything 50 or higher is a guaranteed dance for a min of 15 minutes. The house banks $16 for each "drink" (which is really juice) that a customer buys from a dancer so they push that really hard as well as the VIP cause they bank 16 dollars for every increment of 25.

Re: Pushy Bartenders?
K. I get it now... Wow. They're really ripping you off.
In the case of the $25... okay, sure fine, take the drink, don't do the dance, yay, you got $9 for nothing... that way you don't get in trouble for always making it hard for the bartender to sell drinks... otherwise... yeah... cut the bartender off before the customer can answer and you get dicked.

Re: Pushy Bartenders?
can you charge for the dance in addition to the drink? those prices REALLY suck. maybe encourage the custie to buy 50$ for 15 min... and then pay you 20$ a dance?
or try to sell your own time... if 100$ is the minimum for a half hr and you only get 36... change hte price to 200$ for the half hr... this gets you 4 drinks, the custie unlimited dances and 136$ in your pocket. 200$ a half hr is pretty standard across thecountry and 136$ to you is also relatively standard across the country.

Re: Pushy Bartenders?
Last night was my third night dancing. After I get more experience as a dancer I fully intend to explore other clubs. I've heard of clubs having drink requirements for dancers but not with this percentage.

Re: Pushy Bartenders?
As Gigi mentioned it is a good idea to ask the bartender to give you a moment and then explain to the customer.
I worked in a club like this where they expected me to sell really expensive 'cocktails' and champagne. But I would discretly tell the customers that I didn't want a drink so please don't offer when the bartender comes back. At that particular club it was cheaper for the customer and better for me if he just tipped me or got dances.
