First print modeling gig on Sat- nervous!
I just found out about this today...I have my first real modeling gig coming up on Saturday, I've done a faceless, implied nude shoot for an old club, and another shoot, but nothing I was actually serious about at all.
I'm sorta nervous. I'm going to be modeling with a friend and some other girls, and it's for prints. I'm not 100% comfortable with the way my body and face looks right now. It's fully clothed, but still...
I'm planning on eating low sodium, drinking a shit-ton of water, sleeping well, and maaaaybe taking a water pill.
Any other tips?
Re: First print modeling gig on Sat- nervous!
Congratulations! I've done a bunch of print modeling, and it can be really fun, esp. if you have good creative chemistry with the photographer.
Hmm, some tips:
- try to wear a wireless bra, or at least one that's not super-tight, on your way to the shoot. Tight stuff leaves unattractive pressure marks on your goodies. Because you'll be fully clothed, I guess this is somewhat of a moot point. Still, it's one of the best tips I got starting out.
- bring a Clif bar, or a Luna bar, or something comparable to snack on! Nothing like hunger pains to get the energy out of your eyes.
- model in the mirror beforehand, to find some poses that you ARE 100% comfortable with. For me, I know that my ass is one of my strong points, whereas my stomach is one of my weaker. Especially since you're clothed, you'll have some leeway with this. But confidence is the sexiest thing! And if you're able to convince yourself that you look really good in a certain position (which I promise you will!), then you'll be able to more than convince the camera.
- go light on the under-eye concealer (hrm, maybe this is a tip that more applies to me). Depending on the lighting, this can look really haphazardly done. But again, maybe this is just me.
- find out if the photographer will be shooting black and white, or color! This can make a serious difference in how you look, in how forgiving the camera is, etc.
- figure out your limits BEFORE you start shooting. This is probably way obvious, but still, I wish someone had stressed it to me before I began.
I know there are a gazillion more that I'm not thinking of right now. Need. More. Coffee. GOOD LUCK! I'm sure you'll do fantabulously!

Awesome, this is just the kind of stuff I needed, thank you much! I do get bags under my eyes, and they SHOW on camera! I've heard (besides concealer) that butt cream works? The stuff for hemroids? I was also thinking like Visine, does it really help with redness?
Gah, I had something else I was going to write but I, too, need coffee!
